  1. Well, I hear the kidney market is booming. You only need one anyway ;). Now I wonder how much the Monome guys are paying for these.
  2. I think someone on this forum molded his own buttons and were offering to make them for people too but I'm not sure what happened with that. Right, here is the thread http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=4997.0
  3. Received my 3 chips two days ago. Excellent packaging and surprisingly cheap shipping, didn't cost more than domestic even though it was from across the globe. A+, would do business again. Thank you very much for the cheap SIDs!
  4. I'm interested in the same kind of LCD and just like you I've only found them at crystalfontz. Maybe if we organize a mini-group buy the shipping cost won't be so crippling.
  5. I'm also curious as to why he has his feedback hidden. As a general rule I avoid sellers like that because they are probably hiding something.
  6. As my MBFM project proceeds I have now reached the "getting everything to work" phase and run into some trouble so before I do a double check again I thought I should ask you. MIOS is uploaded, I recieve F0 00 00 7E 40 00 01 F7 followed by F0 0B 0B 01 05 F7 at startup, this is how it should be I think but the upper row of the lcd is black while the lower shows nothing. I remember reading it's supposed to show a copyright message so there seems to be something wrong. MBFM app is uploaded too, don't know if this changes anything. So, does anyone have a clue as to why the lcd is only showing a black bar?
  7. j9 is for din, and since both buttons and encoders use din, both are fine http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_midibox64e.gif found at http://www.ucapps.de/midibox16e.html should explain how to connect the din and dout and it seems like you already know where to connect the ain
  8. I forgot the part that says "Mount all the parts with the exception of the three ICs." Don't fry your SID!
  9. http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_sid.pdf Apply power to the module and check the voltage level between pin IC1:Vdd(28) and IC1:Vss(14) - it must be 12V for the 6581 SID, 9V for the 8580 SID. IC1 is the SID chip, Vdd(28) is the pin marked 28 on IC1 in mbhp_sid.pdf, Vss(14) is the pin marked 14 on the same chip, Vdd and Vss are printed next to the corresponding pins too. Hope this helps Cheers
  10. Well, I have some mixed electrolytics and I think some of them are non polarized (they don't have a minus sign on them anywhere) If i can't use them I'll just get some polarized. Thanks DRÄPPEL
  11. Hi! I've just started working on my MBFM and I'm wondering if the electrolytic caps on the opl3 board can be replaced by non-polarized caps Cheers /DRÄPPEL
  12. Tack för tipset! Nu har jag redan beställt pottar från trimlog men kanske nästa gång. Hur är det med kvalitén?
  13. I'm not quite sure yet, thinking of going with a very simple lfo design so I can squeeze in as many as possible. I'm just about to start building a MBFM so I still have some time to think about it. I'm aso not sure which effects I'm going to use. So far I'm thinking ReboteDelay, Small clone chorus, some kind of distortion ( it's very hard to pick one, they have alot of them at tonepad and there are even more if you look at other places too) and a compressor, although I'm not sure if the compressors made for guitars will sound good with synth sounds. If you find the cvmod that would be great! In the meantime I will look around for it too.
  14. I'm going to build the ReboteDelay too but I think I will wait for them to make a pcb of the 2.5 version, also I'm hoping there is some relatively easy way of adding cv to these effect units so I can build some sort of modularish effect box with a couple of effects and a few lfos
  15. Hi! I'm about to order some parts for the MBFM project and ran into something that made me scratch my head. For the +/-12V power supply needed to power the TL074s it seems like you need a 2x12V transformer (actually I think it's alright to power them with anything from +-5 to +-18 but i want to power a AOUT module with the same psu) according to http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_opl3_psu.pdf, but (here comes the confusing part) doesn't the bridge rectifiers and voltage regulators drop the 12v supplied by the transformer to something below 12v? In which case I would need a 2x15V transformer. Is there something I'm missing or am I right? Thanks
  16. I might be intrested. What are the benefits of having a quad sid board instead of 4 seperate ones? I'm guessing smaller size and a few wires less, anything else?
  17. I recently found that site too and I'm planing to build one of those effects as my first project since they seem quite simple. I'm not brave enough to make my own pcbs yet so I think i'll be using a stripboard. Which effects have you built and how do they sound?
  18. What are your favorite effects to use with your midibox or just in general? Software or hardware, free, self-built, internal effects in a synth or more expensive than gold, everything is welcome! If you have any songs or soundclips where you are using them it would be fun to hear.

  20. You are supposed to use 10k pots but some people have used 50k joysticks without problem so 20k should work too
  21. looping envelopes sounds like an awesome function
  22. Thanks for the input! If i use shielded cables and replace the d-sub with something more suiting ( any recommendations?) would it work fine or will there always be jitter? How did you work out the problems with your PnP tool SounDuke? Also, does anyone know how to implement the toggle function i talked about in the first post? I'm guessing it will only require a few lines of code but with no experience in programming it would take a lot of effort for me to write it. Cool joystick rogic, looks very old school :)
