  1. I've read the MIDI-Troubleshooting page, but it doesn't seem to be a MIDI-problem. I haven't connected the Box to the PC yet.
  2. Hi, I've finished my Mbox Plus yesterday and nearly everything works - but not the Pots. I've connected 6 faders , 6 Pots (The Foot-controller, the Ribbon-controller and the XY-Pad will be added in the future). The Faders work properly, the Bars for the not-connected Controller jitter, but the Pots jitter too. I've controlled the wiring about 3 times and I can't see any error. If I pull all the Faders down, the Pots stop jittering. weird :-\ What could be the reason for this? slp
  3. just a few corrections: it's a 4 mm pot, resistance is 500k (should be no prob. 'cause they'll work as voltage-dividers) they require a 6mm hole on the controll-surface feel free to ask me, if you've got another question
  4. Hi, I'm looking for a 6581 SID-Chip. I would buy it (If it's not too expensive) or trade it for 4 6mm Alps Pots. The Pots do engage (?? google-translation) if you turn it to the mid (??), and if you push on it, they come out of the surface and .... aarghh!! I hate this language... I'll post some pictures soon. ;D Matthias

That was the reason for me to order it! :) and it was ... free! ;D the only bad thing about my ribbon-controller is, that it doesn't fit on the controll-surface of my Mbox >:(. Matthias
  6. nice box, but please, please, please, make the pictures smaller! much smaller! I've got a simple analog Modem and I'm sorry that I can't have a look at all the pictures, because I won't live long enough to load it. ;) Matthias
  7. Hm... after having a closer look at the schematics of the AIN-Module and the MBox Plus, I notice that It's quite the same :o ( multiplexers). But for me, the MBox Plus offers enough analog inputs to controll the most important things of a softsynth. If i need more a. inputs and if i earn more money then now ;) , i'll think about building another MBox 64. Matthias
  8. I'm not building a MBox 64 or something. I'm not using those AIN-Things. I'm going to use it as a realtime-Controller for some softsynths (CS-80V). I don't mind difference #2, but I'll try out your 1st suggestion to avoid jittering.
  9. Thank you for answering my question that fast. :) I think I'll use a switch to switch from the Ribbon-controller to a definite Resistor to avoit jittering. Matthias
  10. Hi, why don't you just use a [glow=red,2,300]LM 350 T[/glow]? It's a Voltage regulator that can be regulated (???) ...you know what I mean. Imax=3A Umax=33V (just choose the right pot for controlling or use another resistor in line with the pot) Pmax=25W hope this can help you Matthias
  11. Hi, I'm going to build a MidiBox Plus as a universal MIDI-Controller. This means: 6 Faders (2 red Buttons / 4 black Buttons) 6 Pots (2 20mm Aluminium Buttons / 4 12mm Aluminium Buttons) 2 joysticks OR footswitch, XY-Pad, Ribbon-Controller (XY and Ribbon are free samples from Spectrasymbol) Yesterday I've recieved my Ribbon-Controller and noticed that it's got a resistance of 2.36 kOhms instead of 10kOhms as the usual pots. Can I use this too? ...And what happens, If I remove my finger from the Ribbon (removing the Signal Pin from a pot)? thx Matthias

Hey, you're lucky, Twin-X I don't need It anymore! have just discovered the Thread about www.spectrasymbol.com! I think I'll now use a x-y-touchpad instead of the Joystick! 8) 8) matthias
  13. O.k. I give up. :'( I've never thought that loading firmware on a EEPROM can be that hard. But I think that the best way to end this story, is if I accept your very friendly offer: ...if it's still standing. I'll pay all the package costs, for sure. just mail me your adress and I'll send it to you. MfG Matthias

    Oh, thanks, Twin-X... :'( If my Midibox doesn't work when I'm finished, i'll blame you! ;) ;D ;)

Hi offe, Oh, my gosh! I think i've looked for those joysticks for about 3 months. Then i took one of those extreme small 30% tolerance joysticks from conrad.de and wanted to build some longer plexiglass sticks on my own. (looks really bad. DON'T try to work on Plexiglass sticks by clamping them into a 1500Watts drill and work on them with files during the drill turns!!) I can't offer you a 6581 chip, but I really need them!! What about selling them? greetz Matthias
  16. Hi, Thorsten, well, it's the same with another USB-port (Windows: device is installed...can be used now.../...Ez-usb-panel: nothing detected) but I've managed to install a driver on the Win98 PC. And i've choosen the wrong driver (Ez-usb-panel: nothing detected) because there are more then one Cypress drivers that I can choose: they all start with Cypress EZ-USB then there are some possibilities: (2121S/2125S)-EEPROM MISSING (2122S)-EEPROM MISSING (2126S)-EEPROM MISSING (2131Q/2131S/2135S)-EEPROM MISSING (2136S)-EEPROM MISSING (2225)-EEPROM MISSING (2226)-EEPROM MISSING (2235)-EEPROM MISSING (2236)-EEPROM MISSING FX2(68613)-EEPROM MISSING FX2 Development Board Development Board Sample Device That's it. Do you know which one I've got to take or should I just try them all out ? ...Or should I throw it out of the Window? matthias
  17. hi Thorsten, That's exactly the same way i did it... If I click on "Treiberdetails" it says "Es sind keine Treiberdateien für diesen Dienst erforderlich oder es wurden keine Treiberdateien gefunden" (There are no driver files necessarily for this serve or there are no driver files found) ...but my version ends a bit different: -select the directory with the 2 .sys and the .inf files -select "continue" -look at the result: https://fotoalbum.web.de/gast/matthiaspri/usb-module/defaultskin?view=miniatur I've tried it on a Win98 PC, but somehow there are no .sys files visible. They are on an usb-stick, but i can't see them... matthias
  18. I've looked in the system-configuration (systemsteuerung?) and there are 2 possible scenes: 1. Windows can't find a more applicable driver than the driver that was already installed. 2. Windows can't find any driver in the driver-file. ??? matthias
  19. Good news (I actually hope, that they are good news :-) )! I was that angry of this *curse* C3 , so i cut it of. Now when I plug the module in, and the pwr-Jumper is closed (!), windows recognizes! the only problem now is, that mr. Gates says, that he doesn't know this device (usb-gerät wurde nicht erkannt). but it still doesn't help if I link the 2 former pins of C3 (led gets darker). I think it would help, if i use a 1 uF or 10 uF cap instead of c3. matthias
  20. Well, after your description, i've just got to bridge the 2 pins of c3. But the only thing that I could recognize was, that the power-Led gets a bit darker for the time i shortcut C3. windows didn't notice anything. by the way, my friend has checked the crystall with a scope and there are always about 3,5V at crystall. no signs of a sine (nice wordplay :-)). Matthias
  21. I've just read the Thread about the problem I've got (http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=1586.0), and I've measured about 3,56 Volts at the Crystal. Always. The Multimeter-Display isn't flickering. I've got a scope on my PC, but I think, 3,5V are too much for my audio-input (E-MU 0404). But I've also got the possibility to give it to a friend of mine, who has got access to a scope. It should be a 12Mhz square-signal, Shouldn't?
  22. I'm using Win XP, SP2, 3Ghz P4 , 512Mb RAM, 450 Watt power supply. J3, J8 and J9 aren't even equipped with pin rows. I've looked for a similar problem in this forum and it seems, that there was the same problem, but in this case C3 was damaged, and I don't think, that this capacitor was already damaged, when I plugged the module in for the first time.
  23. Hi Thorsten, I've meant the Jumper near the USB-Socket, which can be used to power the module by usb. J3 J8 and J9 are not connected. If I plug the module in, and the Jumper is closed (USB-powered) Windows doesn'r recognize it. nothing happens. I've looked everywhere in the "Systemsteuerung" (don't know how to spell it in English) but there's nothing. If I now remove the Jumper, He says: - found new hardware - USB device - the hardware is now installed and can be used now I start the ez-usb-thing and it says "no Cypress usb-device detectet" (-> no power, Jumper open) Well, now i try it again, Jumper open, and now it says: "A usb-device that was connected to the PC doesn't work properly" ??? ??? ??? Matthias
  24. The problem is, that Windows only notices the USB-Module (stand alone, usb-powered) with J1 opened. And I can't install the driver. With J1 closed, nothing happens except the power-LED lights. Could anybody help me? Thx SLP
