  1. ....capacitor..... (and for additional information concerning the human eye: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye#Other_articles_regarding_eye_anatomy) matthias
  2. This is my very very first own song: new link: http://www.filehosting.cc/file/7944/2---FloatingBeats-mp3.html (yeah, I know, the host sucks!) I do this just for fun and I'm interested in hearing your opinions. Just say what you like and what you don't. for having a better overview I've created a poll. you can give this song points from 5 to 1 . (5=very good 1=sh**) @TK: sorry for having stolen your song-name (Floating sequences), but I just didn't know how to call it :-[ . I hope you can forgive me. have fun, matthias
  3. what about capacitors switched parallel to the LEDs? this could avoid flickering...
  4. ok. I think I'll go for the stereoSID V1.7xx now, but I've still got 2 questions concerning the PICs: 1. the V2-core will require a newer PIC18F4620. can I use the V1.7-core with the same PIC? 2. Do the V2-Slave-cores also run with an old PIC16F877? matthias
  5. hi, I'm planning to build a stereo SID with a 6581 and a 8580, but I don't know if it's better to build the MBSID V1.7xxx now or if it's better to wait some months until TK has released the MBSID V2 as this only needs 1 core to control 2 SIDs and as it's got more advantages than the old version. ??? a solution would be to use the V1.7xxx with only one SID and add the second SID as soon as the V2 is released, but I don't know wether the h/w is the same :-\ could someone please help me ?? thanks, matthias

    6581 chips

hey, it's me again :) , i've just read that you've got a C64 housing and you want to trade. what can i offer you to trade?? matthias

    6581 chips

Do you still have one left for me? in case you've still got one left; how much does shipping to Germany cost? matthias (attention, my name is written with an "h") ;)
  8. As you're giong to make your front panel yourself: How do you know where to make the holes for the PCB-mounted buttons? ...and do you know a company which sells cheap (!) enclosures for a SID with CS?? (free samples ;D) matthias
  9. nice! :) I think I'll use PCB-mounted switches and encoders instead of panel-mounted ones when I'm building my SID. I've built a MB+ some times ago and it was quite hard to put all the cables in a housing which was even bigger than your one :P . matthias

    CEM3396 ?

will it exceed 189 euros? That's what a CS-80V costs in germany. I don't mind being a beta-tester. I can etch the PCBs myself and I think burning the PIC won't be a problem either. I don't know exactly, but I think it shouldn't be that difficult as it's possible to controll the chip with a core, an AOUT and a SHX8.

    CEM3396 ?

The only thing I want is a cheap ane easy to build synthesizer. If somebody would be so friendly to share the PCB layout and the C-code for the PIC I would still be interested in 2 of the chips :D matthias

    CEM3396 ?

ok. no problem. I was just thinking of building of a 2 synth after having finished my SID to have more possibilities concerning the creating of sounds. unfortunately I've got nearly no programming-skills (only Turbo-Pascal in school :P) and my electronic-skills are also quite bad when the number of pins of a IC exceeds 14 :) but in case you need someone to etch PCBs, I can do that. But I think it's better to ask "consumer" (I don't know the exact name). I must admit that his PCBs look a lot better than mine. matthias

    CEM3396 ?

As far as I see it should work with an AOUT-Module, right? I dont know if one of you has already worked with the CS-80(V), but if i want to have 2VCOs too, i've got to use 2 CEM3396, right? hmm. I think I'll buy 2 of these, too. but first you've got to tell me the price with shipping to Germany. how does the VCF work? is it a HPF, LPF, Notch etc. ? matthias

    PC PSU?

@ Mr Random ;) do you have a datasheet for this DC-DC-converter?
  16. SLP

    CEM3396 ?

how easy? ;D is it also possible to use just 1 of these? matthias

    PC PSU?

So, there is no way to get the ATX-PSU-Noise out of the SID. ok. thats all I wanted to know. :) good night :-* ;)

    PC PSU?

isn't a PC PSU usually built in a metal housing?
  19. SLP

    PC PSU?

Did I understand you right? is the PCB on the photo a complete 120W PSU??? :o :o is there a way to shield the PSU so that it doesn't influence the SID-circut ? matthias

    PC PSU?

I was thinking of using a cheap 150W-Pollin-PSU, too. I've found a tutorial which describes how to build a second PSU into a PC. unfortunately it's only in german. http://www.moddingtech.de/tut_2tes_netzteil_01_de,59.html the 2 most important things are: - just bridge the 2 marked pins of the ATX-Plug - some PSUs only work when somethings connected to them (fan, etc.) hope this helps, too :) matthias

  22. ...i'm still waiting... :( i don't know anything about the price.
  23. I'll translate it for you: "-Frontpanel made by Schaeffer (inspired by Jurbo's and TK's MidiBox SID) " I guess the guys from Schaeffer used a CNC machine
  24. Hi, I've started working with softsynths 1,5 years ago and I'v also been a MIDI-Noob. I already owned a PSR 630 and so I bought myself a CS-80V and a E-MU 0404 . Then I found ucapps.de and I wanted to build myself a cheap and easy Midibox. I know that there won't be anybody except me in this forum who recommends you building a Midibox Plus . ;) I've finished building it 2 months ago and I'm more than satisfied. 6 sliders , 6 pots, 8 buttons and 4 sockets for additional analog input (xy-pad,etc.) all in all you can control 16*16 parameters with one Mbox+ . it's just 1 PCB and really easy to build. (am i repeating myself? :)) I don't want to influence your decision, but I started as a newbie just like you and I had no experience neither in programming nor in any MIDI-stuff however I was able to build a working midi-controller. attention! this was my own opinion. If a Mbox+ isn't enough for you, go on and build a MB64. But I would recommend you to have at least a look at the MB+ page. regards, matthias
  25. hey, I've got a ordering of special XY-Pads in the Fleamarket. The thread should be quite on top. If I've understood the spectrasymbol-guy right, then the value doesn't go to zero when you don't touch the pad. unfortunately I'm still waiting for the datasheet and the prices :-\ matthias
