  1. yeah, i started having issues, and i cut my losses and got the motu audio interface instead. i've been looking on ebay, seen a few around that look interesting, plus i've put an advert on there saying i want one with broken pads for cheap. ;D
  2. well, i've actually got neither, it's just that EEPROMs are easier to work with etc. general laziness really. i think the problem's resolved itself now though, the EPROMs were for the Akai S950, and i've managed to track down the SCSI enable OS in bin file form, so just emailed an audio equipment service centre to ask if they can burn a couple of EPROMs for me. cheers for the info though.
  3. unfulfilled new year's resolution #23: searchie before askie. http://www.arlabs.com/help.htm ;D
  4. i'm looking for an EEPROM replacement for the EPROM type: mbm27c256a-15. is this possible at all? does anyone know what those numbers mean? i've gathered that the 256 part means 256k of memory, but unsure of the rest. thanks in advance for any help.
  5. thank you , yes, i was thinking along the lines of two SIL headers, as i can get 2mm spaced pins from rs. it'd then mean getting sil IDC connectors, but i haven't really looked for those yet.
  6. interesting... i'm not sure that there's any drives out there that have this pin arrangement as they're usually just straight pinned 2.54mm grid jobbies, but i'll certainly look into it! thanks for the suggestion.
  7. i don't think you can go much wrong with silicon really nym, it's pretty tough stuff now (used to tear as soon as you looked at it!). as for rubber type, the RTV is best to go for, otherwise you're talking about heat curing, or heated peroxide curing (the latter is good if you want your nickname to change to goldilocks) which may or may not be feasable at your facility ;) hardness id say around 20-40 shore A hardness for mpc like pads, though 12-15 may do if you're after somethng more squidgey. i made some buttons with 12, and though they were a little soft to start with, they've firmed up now, and are similar to tv remote buttons. personally i'd go for slightly harder than 12 though. http://www.artmolds.com/category60.cfm
  8. Hi all, another needle in a haystack question: I'm looking for a 50-way idc male pcb header (think internal SCSI) but that fits into a 2mmx4mm grid instead of the usual 2.54mmx2.54mm. there's two rows spaced 4mm apart, and each pin in the rows is 2mm from its neighbour in that row. this hole configuration is currently being used by an external Centronics connector, and i assume this is why the pin arrangement is funky. can anyone suggest a way of doing this? at the moment the options are: 1. make one 2. solder the ribbon cable directly to the board, but i'd rather not do this. 3. break into area 51 and steal some alien technology. cheers in advance for any suggestions, no matter how weird and wonderful.
  9. take some pics and show us so we know what we're looking for.
  10. cheers Sasha and mess, great help!
  11. once again stryd, thanks! thanks michael, i'll look into how it all works.
  12. hmmm, strange, it's coming up 'This file is corrupted'. ahh well, i'll have a look round. cheers
  13. stryd, that's a great help man, cheers.
  14. lol, yeah it was the last place i'd thought of looking. stupidity knows no boundaries i guess. *scuffles back to lair, humbled* ;D
  15. any other suggestions which don't require a degree in gobbledegook are welcome. ;D all i know is perl is some kind of programming language, and these appear to print out the lettering to a website. quite how this happen is magic to me, or possibly gremlins. ahh well, i'll have to fiddle with photoshop i guess. cheers
  16. answer found in -wait for it- 'N00B for dummies' thread. *laughs at self*
  17. Hi all, does anyone know how TK makes 'screenshots' of LCDs for display on this website? eg: or thanks
  18. sounds cool, post some pics when your done!
  19. "new products", as in velostat replacing type product? or rtv silicone replacing??
  20. sorry to take so long to get back to you, been really busy lately. i think it would be easier if i had one in front of me. i'll keep an eye out for one.
  21. true, but it's still not worth however much that one went for!!! ;D
  22. heh, i'd hack it apart to make a MIDIbox SID and show him the pictures. i'm sure you'd be able to see the moment his soul cracks in two..
  23. lol, nym i can picture you as an extra on MIB3 in the background playing the mpc1000 with the new Velostat pads, with a Velostat helmet on too. lol
