  1. I noticed there was no Eagle board design for the Bankstick, hardly even a schematic that's easily readable due to the resolution of the image. So here is my Bankstick design if anyone is interested. You can post it on the bankstick page if you wish. Hopefully it will help someone out. Note: I like the long and thin design because it goes along side the Core nicely, though I've never made a full eight. Five is about the length of the Core module. Bankstick.zip
  2. Okay, I looked at Wilba's PCB and found that it requires me to not use J5 if I want to use his 8-bit mode. Curses! Actually, I cut the cables on the LCD and it appears to be okay. Though I'm not sure if my LCD is susceptible to the crash described in the document I found!. Also I should note that I didn't have the 1k pullup for a while now without any crashes on startup. Edit: Thanks again for the info Stryd.
  3. Is it mandatory to have your LCd in 4-bit mode? I'm not using the CAN bus at all. I Remember disconnecting the 4 wires and losing the second line of my LCD. Do I have to bother with this if have no slaves?
  4. Oh excellent, I didn't see that and couldn't find anything in the forum. Thanks man.
  5. I noticed for the SEQ, a terminator is required for the DIN and DOUT modules. Is this recommended for other projects as well? Such as the SID or the FM? Is it only on the SEQ because it requires more DIN and DOUTs than normal?
  6. Just to confirm, this requires buying a 50$ SparkFun SD card module right?
  7. Me thinks in the future I will be making a Bankstick PCB. I'm starting to think it's worth the effort.
  8. I checked over and over again and it seemed fine. But I got so fed up I completely undid all of the wiring and just re did it completely. It's working now. Thanks guys
  9. For someone who works in PHP regularly, that is a classic error. Thanks TK.
  10. I've checked the continuity of my bankstick several times over. It's not working though. Are there any steps I have to take to prime it? It continues to say <no bankstick>
  11. Just the standard pre-compiled IIC hex file. Is there much need in compiling a custom?
  12. Could you recommend something? I am not very versed in available apps.
  13. Okay, I was burning a 16f88 and it's not working. Adjusted to about 13.17v. I'm using PBrennerNG, it detects the PIC and the program gives me an error when I try to load the Hex file. "fehler bei bereichsprufung" Can anyone who speaks german help? I can't translate anymore than "fehler"=error. Not helpful.
  14. Is this possible? Where is the information for this? I can only find some people talking about it possibly working with 40$+ boards and kits. It would be interesting to know more about this if anyone has any midibox related links. How did you do this?
  15. Oh, heehee, futurelec and http://www.futureelectronics.com/home.asp is different. I ordered from them some time ago. They were okay. They have some niche stuff, but it takes forever to be sure.
  16. Thanks for the help dstamand, but those were both smd resistors! I do not plan on soldering surface mount resistors in my project! I know mouser is expensive, it's really important for me to be able to add things to my order easily. And I'm pretty certain that Mouser is going to be at least a very close price to Digikey (the the amount I'm buying) and without any annoying problems too! I more or less got setup well with Digikey, but if I need to change quantities or add something I evidently have to bargain with the sales people. I think Mouser will always be tops so long as it is impossible to find anything at digikey. Also as I remember I ordered in April and I only payed maybe 10-15$ which was actually Canadian Sales Tax and not a brokerage fee. Which is the benefit of getting the "priority" instead of the cheaper shipping. Fedex BTW.
  17. I'd like 100 or so noisy ones with the white translucent cover. Or "3FTL6 noisy 1D" but it depends on the price.
  18. Wow, I actually convinced Digikey to find the resistors for me, even with shipping being about double than digikey, Mouser still beats Digikey in price. Resistors are half off and everything else (usb connections, shift registers etc) are all about 10-15% less at Mouser. The amount I save on resistor price is enough to reimburse me for the shipping cost.
  19. Do you have an update on this? I tried going with Digi-key but their online search makes it impossible to find 220oohm or 10kohm resistors. After a while I just sent the list of what I wanted and they did not bother to find the TWO resistors I wanted. Plus their resistors etc seem to cost about double compared to Mouser. I think I'm stuck with either Future Elec. or Mouser. But then again if it's taking that long for you to receive it from Future, I might want to just go get reamed by Mouser anyhow.
  20. When did you place the order? Did you pay for shipping at all, or was there merely a discount?
  21. Does anyone know about Future Electronics???? I just saw their site, they're based in Quebec (YEAH!) and they say their handling is free in orders above 25$! I just emailed them how much it would cost for shipping to montreal. I think they have a branch in a lot of other places too. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever dealt with them before.
  22. Are there any pin compatible chips for the 74HC14 Hex Scmitt inverter? I apparently burned on of them in my burner. I'm not sure how mind you, I'm just accident prone, or a victim of a Dell Parallel port. Anyhow I'm looking around and might go to a local shop, but they have limited inventory, so if there are other options I'd try them. FOr example, I was going to got to this store, but they don't appear to have 74hc14s http://www.addison-electronique.com/pdf/catalog_pdf/2008/070000-G-SEMI_CONDUCTEUR.pdf
  23. Well, the note about the LFO was in regards to my available supply of registers and buttons/switchs/encoders. I made this box with leftovers from my last project. In regards to what happened between... Not sure. I guess there were some wiring changes etc. But it was loading up fine and displaying the SID info screen fine. I was able to connect via MIDI without apparent problems. Considering that I get no MIDI messages, I suppose I will have to try burning again. Thank you very much for having a looky-loo though, I really appreciate it. Would you happen to remember the errors off hand?
  24. Sorry, I only read after the quote. Yes it is. Thanks for looking BTW, you're extremely helpful Stryd!
