  1. Thanks for the responses, I will search google for "Building Power Supplies." I'm not really much of a noob, I've just never built a PSU.
  2. Okay, I totally want to avoid Germany considering I'm assuming the shipping is much sicker to Canada. Any other reasons to get it from Mike's?
  3. I've seen a few people on these forums who have built their own PSU. They said that they just harvested a bunch of PSUs so I'm very interested in that myself. However, I sort of need a schematic. I get the path of the electricity: AC120 -> Transformer -> Rectifier -> Capactior field(s) -> Voltage regulator -> etc But I don't know how many capactiors (or the total uF to store) or how to split the lines into different voltage organizations. Does anyone have a tutorial or a layout?
  4. SmashTV doesnt' appear to sell a kit for PIC burning. I know it's not necessary for buying PICs from him but I would like to try and save money via getting samples and then burning them myself. Is there anywhere where I can get the kit? I would use vectorboard but it seems rather difficult considering there's so many components of different specs.
  5. Can any LCD be used? Because I'm a scrap junky and see little LCDs for printers and stuff all the time. Is it feasible for this sort of thing to be used without much trouble? Or is everyone purchasing specific LCDs with open APIs or what have-you?
  6. I'm not about to assume that and have to order stuff a second time, especially if I have to trash a PIC. This may seem like a cheap sequencer for you guys, but it's still expensive enough. Also, what do you need a max525 for? I've been looking around and haven't found it on a parts list yet, but I assume it doesn't come with any kit as people are getting it as a sample?
  7. I am interested in the SID and the SEQ. Considering both appear to be in transition I am willing to wait. However it appears as if the Seq is rather far along (beta?). Does this mean that I might be able to at least construct the hardware before the software is completed or is it not in final yet? I'd like to get started on it but don't know if any parts I try and get are too old or not.
  8. I didn't see that page (thanks) but I saw another one. The ISA card I got was in the garbage so it's not a monetary loss or anything. I'll not so much be checking out the card name when the coworker brings them either, just loking for the chips.
  9. I talked to the maker of midispeak a while ago, check out this page. This is all he needed to figure it out. http://members.tripod.com/werdav/speakell.html
  10. Okay cool, Actually partial success. I actually found a computer in the garbage with an ISA sound card, not the right kind, I think it was a crystall chip or something. Another boon is that I asked a co-worker and he said he has some and will bring them in (nice). Thanks for the help BTW, I'm still fairly unsure about how to go about this project!
  11. Would they really have those sorts of things? It was my assumption that no one would sell those sorts of things anymore. I believe this is the datasheet: http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/93336/ETC/YAC516.html
  12. Though no one seems interested I've identfied the chip as a YMF704c-s which is the generation after the the desired one, anyhow I suppose that's useless at least.
  13. HOw do you actually get the samples? do you have to speak german? Do you also have to make up a company or a story?
  14. Oh, anything Montreal,Quebec,Canada specific would be appreciated (or Ontario too).
  15. Okay, I'm interested in the two synthesizers, the OPL and the SID. Aside from getting enough money for the kits themselves (eep), I'm having a deal of a time looking for the main chips! Is there anywhere where I can buy them for a reasonable price? It seems like there just isn't anyone who wants to sell a c64 near me, not to mention no ISA cards. Also, I DO have a soundblaster card with some chips on it. Can anyone tell me if the YAC516-E works the same way as the other DAC? There's a OPL chip with a lot of pins on it which I assume doesn't work as the main chip, but I was wondering about the DAC...
