Without any added magic you can have digital 128 inputs. You need 2 per encoder, one per button. You also get 128 digital outputs for LEDs.
The total number you'd need for all controls is approx.:
Encoders: 210
Buttons: 580
LEDs: 800
Which means roughly 1000 inputs and 800 outputs.
*kisses*

Um, this is not gonna happen. There's a LOT of parameters.
Does anyone know off hand what the limit is to the amount of encoders and switches you can have with a MIDIbox Sid?
For the seperate modules, not the MB-6582 pcb.

Giving this thread a bump!
Can anyone suggest good online places to buy either pre made audio cables,
or the cut wire and & components for them cheaply.
Trying to avoid places like reichelt with heavy minimum orders.
Any good ebay sellers out there that people have dealt with?
Cheers.

Ah, my humblest apologies for confusing it for a CC chart TK.
In future ill just make suggestions if they could be useful to me (i.e when i have an mbsid finished)
instead of just wasting the time of others, when it can be put to so much more important things MB-related!
I guess people with the minimal control surface, or no control surface at all would benefit the most from direct CC's,
so i guess they would be the best people to suggest them.
-
IAnd sometimes you are writing it wrong - it's neither called "Midibox Sid", nor "mbSID", it's either "MIDIbox SID" or "MBSID"
Ooops, sorry about that, must knock that habit.
However, it seems that nobody is interested on an alternative CC map to access a selection of parameters directly?
I dont understand what you mean by an alternative CC map, i was just suggesting linking the main parameter map on the main manual page.
Maybe i confused you when i said I changed the name from "Parameter Chart" to "CC Parameter Chart",
so it would be recognised as a CC chart easier?
-
Why don't you put it on the wiki then? ;)
Why dont you ask me to......
um, oh wait! ;)
http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=midibox_sid
Is that cool?
I changed the name to "CC Parameter Chart" because its more recogniseable than just parameter chart, at least for noobs like me!

It seems that some people would prefer to automate MIDIbox SID V2 parameters with CCs instead of NRPNs due to DAW limitations.
Although CCs are limited in the number (only 128) and resolution (only 7bit), they could still cover your usecase...
...so, just list the parameters you would like to control and I will add a CC mode which will fit your needs.
Here a list of all parameters:
Best Regards, Thorsten.
Thats great to see.
I think it would be really worth putting a link to that on the Midibox Sid V2 Manual page.
Just like each synth manual has a CC table before the appendix.
Edit: Just spotted theres a link to it in the Lead Engine:
http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsidv2_parameter_chart.txt
I wonder would it be worth giving its own section on the manual too though.

Health is my top priority.
- Start excercising everday to stop ongoing indigestion constipation dehydration etc...
- Start doing the buteyko technique daily (asthmatics should google this - or non asthmatics like me trying to improve oxygen intake, circulation or general health)
- Do an IT course, and get a job
- Build the MB-sid + mb-6582
- Learn/practice subtractive synthesis for once with a real hardware synth without stopping to check emails!!!
- Produce music.
- Do videos demonstrating the MB-Sid, and possibly do a mini doc on the history of the sid chip.

we already made many shows using MIDIbox SID live on stage
Get that shit up!
Some really nice 'lectro sounds i must say! good stuff! Ye've got great energy.
-
What's wrong in that picture is that the crowd aren't rushing the stage. Sadly those of them with the brainpower to notice the missing power connectors are probably too munted to see it.
Yeah, cause the whole puprouse of going to gigs is to check if the act's interconnections are okay! :D

UPDATE: The prototypes are being shipped out atm, once they're tested I will set a deadline after which I will not accept any more orders. This should happen within the next couple of weeks.
Ah ffs, how didnt i spot this. wouldnt have had to annoy you in the chat with questions if saw this post.
now stfu and wait like everybody else. :D
Yes, that i shall!

Can I be added to the list, please?
Cheers!

I think im having a bout of deja-vu!
-
Cheers, but I think I will pass for on your kind offer.
I don't want to get bogged down on trying to use something I'm not familiar with + implementng the code for it (Which I'd have no idea where to start)
I know this is the wrong place to ask, or even ask at all, but does anyone know if it will be much longer before (Or even if) smash will be selling the CS parts?
If it's going to be soon, then I'll hold off self sourcing the tact switches etc..
Regards
Mike
It has being a few weeks since i was talking to him, but he still hadnt found a good enough deal on encoders and switches then.
the only way this can be speeded up is if people help find him a really good deal on these, and from a fully reliable and dependable supplier.

Thanks for the link about the DC offset, but still no luck. It could still just be because i am using an 8580.
Ah yeah, the dc offset mod wouldnt solve that issue.
I just kinda meant if you ever do play samples with the 8580, that it would be worth doing to boost the volume. :)
Also, ASIDXP only plays PSID files and not RSID files. (Both can have .sid as fileformat name)
I didnt think of that! The HVSC seperates has both extensions seperate which is great.
-
Another option would be to just use Ati tray tools instead of CCC. (It's the same program that is installed with the omega drivers.)
yep! good call!
-
Anyway in 8.04 i was able to install the Broadcom driver simply enabling wireless during install.
Simone
Maybe thats my problem! i was using the Wubi Installer for both versions , and its an automated install. :(
Wubi is great though if you dont want to bother partitioning your system, or burn a cd.
it installs linux to a virtual hard drive file on your existing Windows File System.
Its the safest way for noobs to install it and test it out.
Maybe i could of manually selected a display driver too had the installation not being automated!
D'oh! Thanks for the info c!

if you do it for a midibox why not for your own computer?
Because i dont want to spend my free time to tbh, i want my computers OS to be user friendly,
my computer is not a DIY project! Thats just my opinion, i know plenty of linux users will not share it!
I just believe that a good OS should always give the option of doing everything via GUI, and command lines.
Not just one or the other. And hopefully in a few years time Linux will offer this. Its almost there!
no i think it s something for the curious and brave, you can stay out.
I will. thanks.
