  1. and in this case you'll have to hurry cause ultra's bulk order's running only a few days as he says. here's the link to the topic: ultracore http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,12811.0/topicseen.html seqV3 with layout also for use with ultracore http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11802.0.html
  2. hi people, here i'll show how i'm building my very first midibox, a minimal control surface one-bankstick mono SID V2 !!! after asking some questions about whether doing it modular or with 6582 pcb and parts kit i actually know it would be better to chose the all-in-one solution due to error reduction in a one pcb unit. and i still intend to build me a 8-SID Wilba style 6582 megasynth... but not this month :( needing badly one more good midi keyboard controller i spent too much money on an ebay auction and bought a sample keyboard this month. so it was clear that i'd have to wait till i can afford all parts to build my 6582... ...but lurking around here all the time and reading about people building kits and having trouble and solving problems i just couldn't wait without doing that too, at least the smaller way for now. so i ordered some cheap encoders at pollin's, just one PIC18F4685 at SmashTV's and the rest (pcbs and kits for 1 core, sid, bankstick and dinX4) at Mike's store and today he already called me to pick up my midibox pack :D he's just round the corner from here so i met him tonight and bought my sid stuff and some additional cables etc, we had a hot coffee and he showed me his small pcb factory and some of his other cool projects. hey i didn't know he's doing pcb service where you can give him your eagle layout and he'll do the rest! so at the moment i'm busy sorting out the material and as soon as there's something to show i'll upload some pics which i have to admit won't be of good quality at all (cell phone) i haven't made plans for a comfortable housing yet, but i've seen 1HE rackspace wouldn't be enough because of the 2x20 lcd display (plus the knobs underneath it but the display itself is already too high for 1HE) any hints or good ideas would be very much appreciated! yeah!
  3. so now with a new name i have no longer problems with the wiki! i've already updated the change in the list. thank y'all!!
  4. yeah sounds nice if you agree the builder then also playing it for you :)
  5. :D great, i'll keep my eyes open this time!
  6. hi nILS! are you planning to run a 2nd bulk order for this pcb for people like me who failed to join the 1st??
  7. ok thank you, ultra... i think it has to do with my name, i sent Twin-X a message.
  8. thanks, stryd_one, you were faster than i. i think i'll try to change my name if that's possible, don't need that ö anyway... Edit: ok, changed my name but keeps on giving the same error message: name or password were wrong i'll give up, but with a new name!
  9. now i've tried again but log in keeps failing. i don't know whether it has to do with the "ö" in my name but it doesn't work. i also tried the general login again and that worked as expected. i also told my pc to accept all cookies from now on, started the browser again but still it won't let me edit. so please if you are so kind to do that for me i'd like to order: schmöker 1 PCB in any case i'll build the MBSEQV3 so using your pcb design is as far as i can see the best solution for me. i was concerned about the support for V3 when V4 will be launched because it will run with a complete other chip and i could possibly miss some help/answers in case v3 will then be obsolete. and that this pcb can't be used to upgrade to 4 is no real reason not to use it because i think the V3 won't be the last seq i build anyways. by now i'm using my oldskool atari st with c-lab's notator SL for all sequencing but i like using hardware sequencers very much. and building sid and fm synths just increases the need for more devices... ...and all those seqV3 videos make me drool for that machine! so thanks for helping!
  10. hm, i don't know... i'm logged in as schmöker here in the forum. but on the group buy page there's no "edit this page" button or something like that. so i can't see how to change anything. show pagesource: read only and if i try to log in (still being logged in on the forum) it keeps on saying that i'm logged out and either name or password are wrong. yes, i see. i was just wondering if V3 will still be supported while V4's running for it can take some time until i'll finally build it... but i think about building & using more than one seq anyway and V3 already is a very nice machine. but i think i'm going more & more offtopic now...
  11. hi! i wanted to add me with 1 pcb to the list, but i couldn't edit the page somehow... i hope this doesn't mean the group buy#2 is already finished! btw one more question concerning mbseqV3: i hope that V3 won't be all obsolete with the release of V4?? thanks
  12. thanks stryd_one! in the other book mentioned here in the review (C a-z) i found all questions answered, about how to install which program where (life, universe & everything) etc... so there's still a chance i won't have to fill a whole topic with silly questions...
  13. hi Pascal! hast du noch eins übrig?? danke
  14. so, now i'm reading erlenkoetter's book. but i still don't know which software i could buy / download to try the given examples. the name mentions windows visual studio. but that seems to be wrong for it looks like a program to develop windows applications. but i would just like to try my first steps in C with a compiler / editor / interpreter whatever it's called. i'm looking for sth like years ago the basic compilers for atari ST (omikron basic for example). there you could write the code, test it and when it was finished you could compile it to run it as a stand alone file. thanks in advance... perhaps i just misunderstood sth...?
  15. @dlink2000: hab dir gerade ne email geschickt wegen knöpfen! aber allgemein: wieviele knöpfe müsste man denn von jeder farbe mindestens abnehmen, damit es sich überhaupt lohnt?
  16. hi! can anyone name a good book and/or software in german language to learn C (in case it's C i need for MIOS programming) right from the beginning? thanks!
  17. according to the demo videos i just have to build the 8 sid version. i already have the sids from megasale#5. so i would just have to order from SmashTV everything but the control surface pcb which i'll have to design for my own 19" needs on veroboard. i have 1 question about the lcd: on your wiki page the 6582 is shown with a 4x20 lcd but on toneburst's pictures i saw he uses a 2x20 lcd. so can i still do it with 4x20 or will i have to change some programming then? furthermore i hope there's no reason not to position the pots from the backside of the 6582 to the front panel of the rackmount. i think i'd like everything but power and midi connectors accessible on the front. i hope that doesn't require being a C programmer, which i'm not... i'm also wondering whether i should use the original 6582 frontpanel (in case Doug Wellington's sale's not closed yet) so i could easily use the control surface pcb too. on the one hand i would still have to add the plugs and knobs from the backside to the front but on the other the whole case would become quite flat. and there'd be some room for possibilities in the future, e.g. perhaps an analog filter or similar... thanks for your help!
  18. hi! i'm pretty sure you can watch this as a newbie's answer. here's a link to the ehx website where you can download that manual as pdf but it doesn't seem to be what you need... http://www.ehx.com/search?cx=002969883301010512651:vh8tl6tsvvi&cof=FORID:11_SEMICOLON_NB:1&ie=UTF-8&q=2880&sa.x=0&sa.y=0&sa=Search roger
  19. ok i'd prefer keeping it as modular as possible so i think i'll buy core & sid modules from mikes shop. but WILBAs MBSID6582 in my opinion really is the best SID SYNTH design ive ever seen and probably i'll try to build one some day. but for now i'm a beginner and i think it's better to start in small steps. as far as i understand i can also add analog filters to it so a rackmount case would be best for my needs. do i understand that right? to have additional control over more parameters i could e.g build a midibox64 and do it in realtime via sysex by routing a few encoders / knobs to desired functions of the MBSID V2 ? and please could someone give me a hint about a good book / software in german which i could buy to learn C right from the beginning. i just did basic as a child and some pascal at school but its not worth talking about... thank you for your opinions so far! roger
  20. hi! i'm planning to build now my MBSID V2. i already have those 10 SIDs from WILBA and an original PSU from a C64 with a 8580 inside, so it should be the right PSU for my chips. but there are some questions i'm wondering about: -is it possible -without reprogramming any software for i can't (at least now)- to gain ctrl over all MBSID V2's parameters from its frontpanel? (i think of 1 enc for 1 parameter) for i don't care about saving rack space it could be 4 or 5HE high, that wouldn't be a problem. but i assume one would have to implement the new displays with software which would move this idea to somewhere in the future. but i think it would be very nice to adjust every parameter as you like and then save the setting to a bankstick but without scrolling through menues. -i plan to build it the WILBA way, with 8x 8580s in the same configuration. i'd just make me some other panel. would it be better to use WILBA's PCB design (not ctrl surface of course) on which all chips find place on one PCB or should i do it all modular (which way I would prefer, but i don't know if it's really the better one) -and i'd like to get as much bankstick memory as possible mounted internally. and of course i very much like the idea of having CV outputs to drive filters etc (which PCB-bulk orders i seem to have missed this time...) so, i don't know more to ask for now but i'm sure as soon as having posted it the next wave of questions will appear... thanks, roger
  21. hi, here's a link to a guy in germany offering a 6581 R4 and in another auction one 8580 R5, sais tested. as i've mine from WILBA's order i don't need any and i don't know if this 6581 is the right one. but he mentions midibox in his description: http://cgi.ebay.de/Commodore-C64-SID-6581-R4-C128-Midibox-SID_W0QQitemZ250352249103QQcmdZViewItemQQptZKlassische_Computer?hash=item250352249103&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1229%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 roger
  22. hi! i saw this mbsid too on ebay but i thought that sale must have been approved by TK if it's being sold. and i can understand very well if people here are upset if they're really investing time and power to give help, good ideas and new projects for free. if you've read through the forum you know there's lots of asking and answering done and everyone likes it this way. i'm an example for a complete loser or beginner too. all projects i've begun till now used to fail too, because i don't have enough skills or in order to not knowing whom to ask for help. such are e.g. some 8 step analog sequencer, a 2 octave cv keyboard and last year a trigger to midi convertor of PAIA to convert my drum trigger pulses into midi note-ons... all was failing. but they're still here and i'll look if i can manage or somehow get to know what i done wrong. last year i've also bought 10 SID chips from WILBA (thanks) which are still in their envelope because i couldn't finish that PAIA crap yet. and there are other projects here i'm interested in, eg the FM synth, the MB64 controller, midi to cv and of course the MBsequencer (everything, everything). but if you're sure you don't like doing it by yourself there's always the possibility to say ok i don't need 8 voice sid sound, so here's an auction on ebay where you can buy a selfmade sidstation (said to be older) but of course i don't know if it really isn't a midibox sid. here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.de/SID-SYNTHESIZER-CUSTOME-MADE-3-VOICES-OF-8-BIT-HEAVEN_W0QQitemZ280300059656QQcmdZViewItemQQptZStudioequipment?hash=item280300059656&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1229%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 and an original elektron sidstation (with original price of course): http://cgi.ebay.de/Elektron-Sid-Station-MOS-6581-8-Bit-Synthesizer-RARE_W0QQitemZ110328834905QQcmdZViewItemQQptZKeyboards_MIDI?hash=item110328834905&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177 i don't actually know a) if at least the links are functioning that way if i copy & paste them here b) if it's ok to link to non-mb-sales in order to not persuading s.o. to become builder ...but as you can see, i don't even know how to add a picture to my name <--
  23. hi wilba! mine arrived about a month ago (germany), very fast, thank you very much. sorry i didn't report earlier but this is my first internet session again since worms have eaten my computer...
