  1. Nice! I also plan to build one when I have the time! :) Also, what is illegal about this? You're not playing any pirated ROMs on it, are you? ;))
  2. Thanks for the advice Wilba! I wouldn't have noticed. As I do not plan to switch the LCD, I'll just use an 80K resistor for R4.
  3. Thanks Wilba! I think I'll get the Optrex C-51847NFQJ-LW-AAN then. When I order it from mouser and don't have to pay shipping, its just about 7 EUR more than the one from ebay including shipping. Maybe there are some more people who want to order one too, then it wouldn't be more expensive at all.
  4. Hey! I want to buy an LCD display for the MB-6582. I was wondering if there are big quality differences between different LCD displays. If yes, what separates high quality LCDs from low quality LCDs? I'm also asking this, because I found very cheap LCD displays on ebay, and wanted to know if they are really OK to use, or if I should get something better. I'm already spending so much money on building this thing, if it really makes a difference I wouldn't mind paying the few bucks more for the LCD display. Here is the item I was looking at: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170394118460 What do you think?
  5. Unfortunately not, but I could make some photos of the catalog if you want.
  6. I just called them. They have a catalog, and they will send it to my mail address. I also found out that the minimum you have to order from them is just 30 EUR.
  7. Hehe that would be cool :) I'll phone them later today and see what they tell me. By the way, what is the minimum quantity you have to buy from them?
  8. Thanks Wilba, I think I won't need the extra sockets then.
  9. Ahh I see :) Definately a good idea.
  10. Thanks for clarification about the connectors Smithy! I just noticed that IC sockets are included in the order list. Aren't they included in the parts kit from SmashTV?
  11. Yep. I'll do that. Edit: Since they are located in Germany, I can call them for free. I think I'll do that, maybe they have a print catalog with pics or something.
  12. Hi! I'd be interested in a black panel set, if you make some more. Cheers.
  13. Edit: Last set of knobs still available!
  14. Hey! Are there photos anywhere of all the other ALBS knobs, not just the DK16-190V3? There is quite a large list on http://www.albs.de/, but there are only very few photos.
  15. I have lots of those ribbon cables, so I think I'll just use them. Thanks. Ah OK, so I need two 16 pin DIL connectors and one socket for the LCD? The baseboard-CS connections are typically just soldered, without connectors?
  16. Thank you for the detailed answers! OK, so I need a 16 pin cable for the LCD and 8 pin cables for connecting the base PCB to the CS PCB, preferrably the 100mil spacing cable Wilba used. I checked, 113 LEDs are needed. 64 for the matrix, 48 other CS LEDs and 1 for the power switch. I thought he meant the display with this. Can you please clarify pingosimon? Sounds nice. I did not know about that. Maybe I'll add them later, after I have finished the basic synth. I'll definately do that, you never know what you might want to add later. I looked into that thread, and they seem nice, but I still don't know if a fan and/or heatsinks are really necessary. Maybe I'll add them just to be safe. Thanks again for your answers, they have been very helpful to me!
  17. Yes, i knew that. But thanks for the hints, maybe its useful to someone else :) Edit: By the way, which parts do I need from SmashTV besides the PCBs and parts? I think I will need Cable, MIDI sockets and LEDs. I want to build the standard MB-6528. Which cable, and how much will I need? Which MIDI sockets fit into the standard panels? I did not count them, but I think 100 LEDs will be enough? Is there anything else I forgot?
  18. Hi everyone, I'm new! I'm in on this! I need everything. :)
