    Just about ready to start building my MBLC... but first, need to finish building my DIY CNC router so I can build a lot of the parts.

    Typically, while visiting the parents... my dad found and gave me a pillar drill (drill press) that he never used..... just after I've needed it most :S

    CNC is cracking on now.. just the limit switches to fit, then wire it up and start motion testing it. ;D

      Hehe, yeah, I have also thought of those kinda money sinking activities... Rather intriguing stuff that is... I remember way back at school we had a portable CNC which was extremely expensive said the teacher, but all it could really do was engrave letters in wood. I should build a real one and show em :P But dude, keep pics and vids comming. Nice work!

      Oh yeah! curly birch is extremely cool looking. Especially under 10 coats of clear, og even epoxy poured! I worked quite a bit with that wood in school, looks like birch with flames! :) awesome.

      what kind of spindle did you switch to? Noise level is one of my biggest concerns to working indoors at night.

      don't know what make it is, but it's one I got on ebay from China.. 12-48V dc 300W. price was approx. £50

      Oh yes!!... as well as bigger motors, I'm replacing the leadscrews on the X & Y axes with trapezoidal ones.

    Now the CNC is working and cutting well.. watch out for more 'Build your own tools'... In the pipeline are a 4" bench saw, a 6" disc sander, and a polisher !!

      Disc sander is nice to have. I have stowed away an old big lathe in a basement nearby (have no space for it at home) which I have a 12inch disc sander for. Just attach the disc to the spindle and set up the support, and sand like crazy. Nice tool, especially when making case models like me. Real nice tool!
