cimo Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 ever wondered what the cooling stack of a power station looked like from above ?actually not, but now i know what a cooling stack of a power station is, is that your personal surge protector? Quote
Artesia Posted April 8, 2008 Author Report Posted April 8, 2008 its a mighty fine place for mass gatherings of rastas & their little bongo circles.. without anyone noticing ....plus bonus free sauna :) ...and yes you really can walk under a cooling from anywhere on the periphery ..its on massive stilts ;) Quote
ilmenator Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Here's another one:http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=eschweiler,+germany&ie=UTF8&ll=50.838861,6.322503&spn=0.011748,0.01502&t=h&z=16Notice how the chimneys are funnily distorted because the plant is located just where two photographs were stitched :). Also, on the left hand side you can even look into some smaller cooling stacks. If you scroll a bit to the north, you see where the coal comes from and what that does to the landscape. It's worse if you zoom out a bit more and scroll to the east...Best regards, ilmenator Quote

Goblinz Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 I have a good one too...http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=DE|alt%20daber#t=l&map=53.20374,12.51848|17|32&loc=DE:53.2043:12.50136:14|alt%20daber|Alt%20Daber,%20Wittstock/Dosse I go to Fullmoon festival (www.fullmoon-festival.com) which is set in an ex military airbase just outside of Berlin. Everything is deserted, if you walk in the woods you see the odd fire hydrant and statue, then suddenly you find yourself walking along a street. There's lots of good exploring to be done! Nest to the run way there's a path in almost a D shape. The green bumps in there are huge aircraft hangers... one housed the chill-out stage last year I have a lot more exploring to do this year.... There's a whole new block of hangers that I didn't know about and a few more bits and pieces in the woods too. G Quote

ilmenator Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 neato ..hmm that german power station has the weirdest geometry on those wastelands above .really odd the patterns they chouse to work in there.Well, that's because1) they dig where the coal is2) they dig where people have been re-settled alreadyActually, here you can see how it was before and how it is now: Google uses two photos with a different date, so in the upper part they have already started mining, while in the lower part of the picture you can still see the fields. Strange time-warp experience...http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=eschweiler,+germany&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=50.895373,6.316109&spn=0.023468,0.030041&z=15&iwloc=addrBest regards, ilmenator Quote

Not even allowed a couple of friends round camping... really annoys me. I have several friends with rigs, know loads of DJ's all we need is the land to have a party... Grrrrr! Tis good being able to have my music on as loud as I want when no-one else is in though :D G Quote

DrBunsen Posted April 9, 2008 Report Posted April 9, 2008 Crop circle advertising's not that uncommon. I wouldn't be surprised if someone was sent out to make that just before the next photographic pass. Quote
