SID Bankstick

I've checked the continuity of my bankstick several times over. It's not working though. Are there any steps I have to take to prime it? It continues to say <no bankstick>

No "priming" necessary. Just correct building and connecting.

Did you also check your core module? Note the "flying wires" (see http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_core_v3.gif) which are required if you don't use a PCB from Smash

If you want to check your work against mine, I posted some pics yesterday.  The first stick was fine, but don't follow my wiring for #2-#4 as I had some troubles making out the text on the image.

Not sure if it helps, but I had some initial issues with my banksticks. One was I had +5V connected to what was supposed to be ground on one of the banks. Whoops :) Another was my terrible wiring job (it was my first protoboard) which caused data corruption and, in fact, when I used teh SID 1.7 firmware, it would actually hang when formatting one of the chips.

That said, you may want to double-check your wiring for the banks to make sure it is correct. I used this page religiously. Also, if you are making a multi-bankstick board, it might be worth building a printed board rather than trying to wire all that up on a protoboard. That's what I'm going to end up doing anyway.

I checked over and over again and it seemed fine. But I got so fed up I completely undid all of the wiring and just re did it completely. It's working now.

Me thinks in the future I will be making a Bankstick PCB. I'm starting to think it's worth the effort.
