The tone of your post is quite demanding.

You don't really need anything but time and endurance. Lots of both.

First you get the datasheets of the sound chip, then make up some hardware, buy the parts, assemble it then look at a lot of source of emulators for that sound chip (iirc MAME has an excellent APU emu), write some software, beta test it and release it. Done.

Sounds simple. Isn't quite as simple. I should know.[me=nILS Podewski]looks at bugfight[/me]

when you say make some hardware I want to know like want aspects would I need to study and the software part what language?

Wow...  Simple question, tough to answer...

1.) Buy a copy of The Art of Electronics

2.) Read the entire book from cover to cover

3.) Buy as many electronics kits as you can

4.) Build all kits and study schematics until you know why the circuit is designed the way it is

5.) Fix those kits when they don't work - figure out where you messed them up

6.) Buy a PIC development kit

7.) Learn PIC assembly language

8.) Buy a copy of Eagle

9.) Buy a copy of The Circuit Designer's Companion

10.) Read the entire book from cover to cover

11.) Use knowledge gained from step #10 to use tool from step #8

12.) Contact as many parts vendors as possible - learn about different sizes, shapes, and electrical characteristics of all parts

13.) Buy some CAD program

14.) Read all documentation of CAD program and start designing panels that line up with all parts on pcb designs from step #11

15.) Order prototypes of pcbs and panels

16.) Assemble them, find problems, redesign, reorder

17.) Read every message on MIDIbox, Electro-Music and GroupDIY forums.  Read all email messages on SDIY email list.

18.) Buy and read all Electronotes

19.) Repeat until tired, bored or dead

;D

... 19.) Repeat until tired, bored or dead

why let petty things like death stop you?

a list like this can keep you busy for several lifetimes.

though you might add a bit about understanding what you read...

remembering might help too.

also important is not letting all these books keep you from actually finishing anything.
