llcoolj
Hi everyone, I would like to build a midibox SID Synth V2 and I've place an order on AVI Showtech:1 X MB-6582 Baseboard PCB1 X MB-6582 CS PCB4 X PIC18F4685However, Is it necessory to purchase the SID Module PCB? I can't see that in the Midibox SID V2 and they didn't mention in the part list as well, but I found it is written in the walkthrough. ...so my question is..... Do I need to buy the SID Module PCB to be able to build the Midibox SID V2? I am a little bit confuse.... Sorry, I am a rookie here.
Twin-X
Welcome LL (prob not the real one ;))No you do not need the SID module.Focus on the MB-6582 documentation. All modules are integrated on the Baseboard PCB you ordered.Regards,Jeffry
rosch
hi!the MB6582 provides all you need to run a 8 sid setup, of course not only the baseboard pcb. the single sid pcbs are a modular solution you could chose as well. but if you already have ordered the pcbs for MB6582 you don't need additional sid, core, din, dout pcbs, it's all inside!here's some info:http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=wilba_mb_6582then you'll find further information in the sid section here on the forum! llcoolj
Thanks guys. :)I have not purchase the part kits, because the part kits seems pretty expensive to me. I think I can get those parts easily in my country. The resistors, caps are dirt chip, and the ICs are not that hard to find at all. I have somke left over resistor and IC from x0xbox anyway and a few of them is the same. Do you have any ideas how much is the LCD cost for the Midibox SID V2? There is a direct link to the web site but they never mention about the LCD price.

Personally I think you'd do very well to find all the parts in the kit cheaper, but more importantly, you know for a fact that the kits parts are going to be compatible and fit the board. There are a few people though that have done very well with self sourcing components. As for the LCD, they can be picked up on ebay or several websiteshttp://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=20x4+lcd&_sacat=See-All-Categories

I am thinking about getting the part kit right now, but I've already place my order. Don't know if they let me to add that on top of my old order. rosch
as long as your order isn't shown as shipped at SmashTV's store i'd say it's not too late to at least ask him whether you could add sth.
