Teaser for an upcomign project

The design is near final and it should be ready in mid January. It's not 100%, but it is close enough to put together a video with - I did three;

Since we don't hear filter sounds, it's probably a project which plays .sid tunes on an emulated SID.

My guess: A Bleep Bloop Ffzzzzz Chrrrr Box?

Since it's supposed to be a x-mas gift to the midibox community, there's no info and just some random clips of this thing that I cannot reveal yet cause it's just sooo cool to go around with random tidbits of teasers, especially if you turn the volume all the way down in the video for no apparent reason so you have to turn your stereo way up and risk blowing your speakers when some windows notification happens at the same time as you're watching the incredibly awesome and totally random teaser.</rant>

Must have been pure imagination as this was a mono mp3 of the stereoSID emulation, which does in fact support stereo effects via emulating 2 SID chips for instance, you also most certainly haven't heard downsampling effects or overdrive, which are indeed features but not audible in the clips :)

Now you're getting closer - although it's not USB. The audio recording in the video is pretty rough (made with a cheapo mic). Some specs, so far;

- 31kHz sample rate

- >16bit resolution

- Full filter support

- Full envelope support

- Supports all 4 waveform types

- 16 steps main volume

- Waveform reset bit works

- Ring modulation

- Oscillator synchronization

Don't get me wrong, Propeller is a nice SoC and it was obvious that sooner or later somebody will implement a SID emulation for this chip.

It would be interesting, how long you worked on this project, and if you feel that there are enough resources free (not performance, but also memory wise) to enhance it in future. Or would you prefer to add a second uC to control the emulated SIDs?

All in due time - this schwanz is completely open (MIT license), so anyone will be free to inspect, improve, or modify to their heart's content.

I think it means something like 'penis measuring competition'. It's a bit odd, though: I'm not comparing this to anything else. It does emulate multiple SID's (extremely well), but it's not a sequencer or synth.

@Smash - Gadget Gangster is my website. Not sure what you mean by spamvertising, but I'm no disposed central African king and I don't have an online pharmacy :) But if you're working on a project and want to post on the GG forums, I'd love it! A lot of people who visit the site are interested in music and audio, and I'm sure they'd be interested in what your working on.

Left channel sounds brighter, I'm going with that as the real (?).

- Both channels have an amazing SNR.

- One of the channels has the phase inverted.

- The same channel pretty linear filter response, which the other doesn't

- Frequency range is also a nice hint
