Rowan
HiHas anyone come across LCD's larger than 40x2, like 60x2 or 80x2 ?I was looking at the logic control at my work and it looks like the LCD is approx 60x2 (I couldn't be bothered counting the characters).Does anyone know what the limit MISO can handle is (I should read the MBHP LCD section, no doubt that holds the answer)The reason I ask is just a matter of aesthetics. One LCD per 8 faders would be nice.Rowan
Steven_C
I think that LCD is specially made for Mackie, at 55x2 characters...
pilo
yes it's a 55x2.. can't find it anywhere!By the way I think it's not a HD44780 based, because those chip handle 40 chararcter line...And yes it's a little stupid design problem...!!!!! Rowan
Hi GuysI may give my friend at Mackie NZ a call to shead some light on this issue (what kind of controller chip is used is used).Rowan
stryd_one
Firstly, Rowan, MISO is a soup. I tried it with LCD's once but it was too crunchy ;) hehehehI read that you can get 40x4, but I've never seen anything larger than 40 rows... As Pilo said, I think that's a limitation of the chipset...I wonder if there would be a practical way to run dual LCD's side-by-side? Rowan
HiStryd: I prefer my MISO with 4051's from Japan (traditional recipe), They are a bit easier to swollow than LCD's ;) ;)Rowan
jeroddumas
Rowan, if you have a friend at Mackie see if you can get at the HUI Protocol. That way MB can be pro tools friendly.

TK.
So long as the LCD is HD44780 compatible, up to 64x2 should be possible. However, I never found a distributor for displays larger than 40x2Best Regards, Thorsten.
pay_c
I got a 24x8 (!!!!!!!) display recently. It seems to be compatible, but there are still some things I gotta check out. (Up to now I`m even not sure if its working!).Holding th line... :)
Rowan
HiI've found some LCD's that are 40x4. Not cheap though. $110 NZ (approx $65 US). The same distributer has 40 x 2 for $20 NZ each. http://www.pmb.co.nz/Rowan
Steven_C
I have seen 40x4's for much much cheaper than that! I think it was at rockby electronics in Melbourne, Australia.
