someone should just lay a ponoko one out, those would be dirt cheap and they have 2mm clear material. Personally, I just get some lexan film from mcmaster and sandwich between the panel and the LCD. They have thickness down to 0.005" , it's tough stuff, and cheap. And if you are REALLY concerned about your display, it comes in .44 magnum rated bulletproof as well :thumbsup:

Probably , as say Altitude , the cheapest solution is the plexyglass you can buy in hardware store.

If you have time with a dremel like tool you can engrave the edges to create a step to be embedded.

I think Ponoko is the route I'll take.

All you Dremel-users ought to check out the Proxxon line of rotary tools. I've come to the conclusion that Dremel is okay as long as you don't want to use attachments.
