Suicide Sushi
Hello Midiboxers. Heres some pics of my new MB6582. It sounds awesome. I would like to thank everyone on this forums for your help. I would especially like to thank: TK, Wilba, SmashTV, Hawkeye and nILS. I still need some knobs for the CS, and I would like to go with som Korg Mono/poly style ones. But they are hard to find. My LCD backlight went dead last night, and I think I need an new LCD. Maybe one with a different shape to put the display closer to the CS. Oh and it is stuffed with 4*6581 ('83-'84), 1* 6581R5 ('86) and 1* 8580 ('90). I'll need at least one more 8580 to get that awesome stereo sound. One thing that surprised me when I booted it for the first time was the amout possibilities with the Midibox SID v.2. software. It is pure awesome. I took the liberty of adding my MB6582 to the officiel build list as the latest (127). I hope it's okay. Lastly. Thank's for making this possible guys! Sorry about the "whiteout" on some of the pics. My Blitz is too hot. And sorry about the (at times) dumb questions. :geek: Heres a small recording I did as my first sound test. The drums are Waldorf Attack and I used the sysex editor for SID manipulation. Please listen to the Vimeo version, as the Youtube one sounds like Sh*t. Hawkeye
it looks great in a white case with a "natural" panel and flathead leds ftw. very nice! don´t forget the feedback mod - it is a cool add-on, at least for the 8580s - dunno about the 6581 Edited January 9, 2011 by Hawkeye
nILS
Looking good :frantics: Pleeeease exchange the screws on the CS though ;)

Suicide Sushi
Looking good :frantics: Pleeeease exchange the screws on the CS though ;) He he sure nILS. What screws would you recommend? BTW. I was in the studio last night and we used a DSI Prophet 800 as mother keyboard for the MB6582. Funny enough it seemed like fitteling with the prophet 800 knobs changed some values on the MB6582. When we turned down the master volume on the prophet the MB6582's volume went down etc. Thats kind of need. We used one of the "exotic" waveforms on the 8580 SID (Sq + saw I think) and it fitted on the track like butter on hot bread. It sounds absolutely dirty and awesome... Again. Thanks! Next project is a midi input for my Tama Techstar drum machine. Like this dude did. Maybe a midibox would do the job.

tupinamba
Just finished mine two days ago ! I did it "classic" style but with orange LCD and leds and it looks great I think ! I'm still waiting for the knobs but I think they'll be in the mailbox in one or two days... And the feedback mod still has to be done too. Many thanks to the whole community for being so nice and helpful and special thanks to Thorsen and Wilba for making it happen and SmashTV for just being so cool ! I did not have time to try it a lot as I had a lot of work these last two days but tomorrow I'm free so I'm gonna play it autistic style... :frantics: Edited March 3, 2011 by tupinamba
Wilba
Cool! Where did you get the LCD?
Davo
Very nice! Where did you get the flat-topped LEDs?
tupinamba
The LCD is from this guy from Poland on Ebay. The Leds are not flat (I'll make more pictures). In fact they are crystal too but I kinda like it as they aren't too bright. They are Osram leds. But it's 9 AM here in France and I said I would play it autistic style so if you'd excuse me gentlemen...
Smithy
The LCD is from this guy from Poland on Ebay. Heh, just stocked up on SIL/DIL Headers, and connectors from this guy, his prices are the cheapest i've seen. Almost tempted to buy the red/orange 4x20 LCD as a spare, but i already have 2 black on green as spares! He also sells, a set of angled SIL headers, connectors and crimps. Ill be using this kit to connect the cables on the CS PCB: http://cgi.ebay.ie/5x-Connector-crimp-Header-PIN-1x8angle-8crimp-complet-/170422616083 If the plastic is too wide on that right angled SIL header, you can order the kind Hawkeye used: I'll be crimping the crimps to the ends of these cables, which I'm currently using on the Base Board side: http://www.reichelt.de/Platinen-Steckverbinder/PS-25-8G-BR/index.html?;ACTION=3;LA=2;ARTICLE=32346 The height of those connectors is about half the size of the normal white connectors, which is essential due to the lack of space in the PT-10. The end result will be a combination of what i'm currently using and what Hawkeye used. Its probably the best completely detachable solution.
