  1. Heya CH! Let me know if Cherub Rock is still in his setlist..... ;) Later! Smash
  2. Heya Xcen! I was not planning on it, because there are so many variations in what people want/need for their MB. Take a look at what http://www.mouser.com has and if you don't find what you are looking for there let me know, I'll help you locate what you want. :) Smash
  3. Sweet..... ;D I can't wait to see the finished top panel! Smash

    cap question

Heya Oish1! For the electrolytics on the CORE 16v for the 2200mfd and 25v for the 10mfd work fine, same for the SID with a 50v for the 1mfd. On the ceramic caps any voltage Mouser has will work, just pay attention to lead spacing. I have orderlists made up for both Mouser and Reichelt for the new (not yet released) boards I will be selling (very soon!), and a Mouser list that fits the original board layouts will be a great thing. :) Have fun! 5. Heya Kieran! Yes we -thought- he did. Thanks so much for the kind words (from everyone!). We met with a plastic surgeon last week and had more x-rays done, and everything was normal. No problems whatsoever! I can only attribute his change in condition to the massive amount of people all over the world who included him in their prayers. Believe what you will, but we are blessed every day. Some of us just don't notice when it happens.... :) On a sad note, My wife's grandfather passed yesterday. We will miss him but we are relieved that his suffering is over. If there is anything I can do to help with your research into craniosynostosis please let me know. After reading up and talking with everyone I could about it I get the impression that there is not enough communication between people treating the condition to come up with a clear understanding. I understand that it is a condition brought on by genetics but a couple of the interesting theories I have heard are that it can be caused by the internal monitor during delivery (his was pulled out several times) and that it is related to genetic damage due to chemical exposure. Sorry all for getting so off topic! Later! SmashTV aka Tim

  7. Heya! Check out http://www.coinoptech.com/tech/res.html More fun than a table when you are digging through the parts bin for a resistor.... ;) Smash
  8. Amen brother! :) Apple will eventually get it there, hopefully before OS XI....... I dual boot on the laptop, but I still spend all my work time in OS9. Luckily MAX/MSP is fine with OSX and OS9, When I build the MIOS tools for Mac they will be for both. How quickly that happens will depend on the number of Mac users that speak up here. 8) Later! Smash
  9. Please sound off with what OS you use on your music 'puters, I'm trying to guage the need for a suite of Mac tools for those who have no PC to aid in the programming/operation of MIOS. ;) Smash
  10. Please don't ignore my apology to you! Had I stopped for a microsecond and realized that what I was up in arms about was only there for less than 5 minutes, and was being edited as I read it, I could have saved myself from looking like a hot headed idiot. I am truly sorry, and there is no defense for my actions. Let the record show that I am the only one looking stupid here. Also I have no ill will towards anything DIY brought to the attention of this forum. Anything you can build yourself that serves a purpose (even just learning) is worth doing. I should have chosen my words more carefully, I did not intend for it to sound like I was going after you or the USB project. It's getting hard to type with my foot in my mouth, I'll shut up now. :-X Smash

  12. Heya Dan! The stuff I did involving ADC is so ancient now that the chips I used from Burr-Brown (now TI) are obsolete. It was no fun back then, multiple voltages, external refs, etc. and that's all internal these days. Doing it with today's technology I would be looking at the WM8738 from Wolfson http://www.wolfsonmicro.com/. It should easily do the left justified data stream that the Alesis chip will be expecting and has great specs for the price. If memory serves Maxim makes some IC's that would be perfect when paired with a decent microcontroller for controlling the flow of things. BTW: Gilles the post I was talking about was before the one you quoted, the original message is gone/edited now. I'm sorry for lowering the level of the forum to this. Fine. I'm the bad guy. That said I won't be told to go back and pay attention to something, reply with a question, then have the statement retracted like it never happened. A simple "whoops" has a lot more credibility than any word followed by I did not say that. Should I assume in the future that everyone here knows exactly what they are doing and would not like any alternatives presented? Cool, just let me know. Little scrapes like this happen when people type something that they probably would not say to someone face to face. It's not what was said that gets to me, it is editing after the fact. Consider me chilled ;) Smash

  14. Wow sly, nice edit job on your message! I did not realize you could post something then go back and change it if a reply to it made you look stupid! I would still like to know what I should "go back and check" ;) I really don't think I deserve a scolding on DIY, Some of my stage lighting gear, all of my controllers, my CNC, and other projects of mine might get offended if they thought that I built them just to save some cash. My reply to your message was just intended to be informative, nothing more, and it still seems like a lot of work TO ME for something like that when I could spend that tinker time doing something else. I guess I have to save a little of my DIY time for some innovation to keep it fun, I have learned about all I can from tacking DAC's to a board then running pre-written code/drivers to play with them. But that's just me. The learning that can come from building the USB interface (it is interface, not DAC, right?) is what many people need to round out their knowledge of electronics. If you are not sly and are reading this wondering why I would respond in this way, it is because sly has taken the liberty of editing the message that I replied to so much as to change the whole idea of the it. Something you won't see me do, and yes it has me kinda pissed. Feel free to flame away if you need to, but please do it via IM or email, let's keep the KiDDiE stuff out of the forums. Smash

  16. I guess I'm missing something here, the Telex has analog stereo audio in and out, and feeds to and from the computer via USB. SPDIF aside, what does the elektor project do that the Telex doesnt? Not challenging you or anything like that, I'm just curious about what I missed ??? Smash :)

Right on! ;D I'll pound it out after the board rollout. If tinkering with the serial version interests you (9600 baud->16 servos per board, addressable to 64 boards) let me know! Solenoids would be cheaper, but need way more power and are on/off only compared to 128 positions with the servo. I have some good logic->solenoid drive circuits (from back in my pinball repair days) if you need them. Have fun! Smash

  22. Wow! That's a lot of effort for something so cheap. http://shop3.outpost.com/product/3113100 It does not have SPDIF I/O, but it's $29.90 ($9.90 if you believe that rebates actually come). USB<->audio converters are cheap these days if you look around. I paid about $59 for mine (not this Telex model) and it compares in quality to a decent outboard D/A converter. Later! SmashTV

I thought about that, but you can buy a motorized pot ready to go for less than a cheap servo+pot.Take a look at the video clip at http://www.animusic.com/drum-machine.html Maybe something like that but real (not animated) :) Smash
