Thorsten and the MB site did recieve a mention in the latest issue of Nuts & Volts magazine. A cover issue would make a nice wall decoration for TK though! Have fun! Tim

I can't take any credit for that, I merely passed them on in behalf of a very cool Midiboxer. :) Have Fun! SmashTV

A Midibox "meet and greet" is the idea. :) Met up with Rowan there last night for a great chat about everything but the box. ;) See ya there SmashTV

Switchers are way more efficient, but introduce a lot of noise and ripple into the power, bad for anything analog (like reading potentiometers or moving faders around). Linear supplies work like a battery, the only noise/ripple you get is what you introduce with the load. Have fun! SmashTV

I completely agree, thats why the chat should just be used for casual conversation between Midiboxers that does not really belong here in the forums. Mix techniques, studio management practice, stuff like that. :) SmashTV

Yes. Switching bad. Linear good. :) SmashTV

Try this http://mbhp.coinoptech.com/chat.html and let me know what ya think. It is also accessible via a standard irc client via the link at the bottom of the page. BTW: this will make your firewall go nuts, it's just doing the ident and other stuff required by irc servers these days. See ya there! SmashTV

Those thick (5mm) rubber foam mouse pads work very well as material for isolating piezo elements in drum triggers with multiple elements. Mounting them in/with silicone caulk also helps (but you have to tune their response individually, as crosstalk will vary greatly with silicone mounting). Have fun! SmashTV

Cool, let me know when you are ready, i'm not going anywhere :) You have to have a free account with paypal, you set it up at www.paypal.com and it draws from your bank account and or your credit card. It's really easy and simple, but a bit invasive if you are afraid of letting out your CC number (like me!)....;) Have fun and be safe on the work trip! SmashTV

Yep he's on walkabout. Smash

The alps are touch sensitive, the panasonics are not. The panasonics do have a better (more weighted) feel, but that's just preference and what you are used to. Smash

Heya Sly if you want to paypal me, have me buy the faders from allcorp then re-ship them to you, that might work. A 4 pound package from here to Germany via USPS priority mail (4-7days) costs $26 to ship. (2 pounds is $15, not sure how many you are needing, but you can check rates at www.usps.com) Just a thought.... :) I don't know how the VAT thing works though, is that owed in Germany when you recieve the package? Have fun! SmashTV

Yes! it is the original layout and parts list as found on the MB site. Yeah I felt bad about putting those restrictions on sending out free test boards, but spending an extra $100 on shipping this week just is not in my vocabulary...:) Cool, hopefully you will have at least a core board in hand on your birthday! ;D SmashTV

Very cool! ;D Smash

Alright! one down one to go. 8) Email your shipping address to ucapps@coinoptech.com Have Fun! SmashTV

Cool! Let me see what I end up with by the end of the weekend, and I'll be shipping out boards on Monday. BTW I have two core boards with the original layout that is currently on the midibox site that are etched and ready to go. These are not my new layout. They were sent by someone who did not need them-with thier PICs for me to program. So if anyone wants one of those for only the cost of shipping let me know. (supraanimo gets dibs on the freebie if he wants it, since he has offered to test.) ;) Xcen if you want the other one speak up! Have fun! :D SmashTV

Many thanks Ian! ;D Smash

http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=troubleshooting;action=display;num=1054812520 You guys should pool your efforts and we'll have a tutorial/walkthrough in no time! ;) SmashTV

I should have said send me images if needed. I was very tired last night..... ;) As I said everything seems to be working, but it would ease my mind to know these modules work fine when you drop them into an already functional MB. Let's make that anyone in the US, I simply can't afford to send these out internationally on my dime. ;) Any takers? SmashTV
-
Why don't you document the best procedure? :D Any walkthrough would be great! Help the MB project. More people build, causes more innovation, causes more cool features. If you run into a hard part of making a walkthrough post about it, that part might be easy for others here who would probably help if they know what's needed. ;) Later! SmashTV

I'm having a bit of extra delay from my copper clad supplier, so this is a good thing. I only have 30-45 blanks left (I need 5 of those for unrelated protos) so I would not be able to fill many orders until those are in (probably late next week). It will also give me more time with the MF board, the one with the most layout changes. It only has 4 jumpers now, so with that much change it needs a bit more testing than the rest....:) I'll be sending out more test boards, if anyone wants to help here is a list of what I need from you: >prefer in the Southwest US (so shipping is fast from me and Mouser). >buy the needed parts on the new list(s) from Mouser. >build test boards within the next week. >test ->prefer tested in place of already working modules. >let me know via email of any problems/help with solutions. >prefer familiar with their meter, and able to troubleshoot simple problems or take readings and document well so I can re-create the problem here. >send me pics if needed. I have built all of the new boards except for the SID, and so far everything seems to work. With the all of the variations possible I want to test more so we can be sure everything is correct before everyone who is waiting for the new layouts builds. I don't expect any issues but experience tells me to prepare for otherwise...;) If you are up to the task, reply to this message, here in the forum, with what module(s) you can easily test, and what setup (MB16E, MIOS LC, etc) you would be testing on. I would like to have two more complete sets tested by other people out there up and running before we can finalize the layouts/order lists. Later! SmashTV

Sorry about the lack of updates from my end! Between testing the new layouts and all of the family in town life has been a blur. ;) The layouts are done, the orderlists are done, how-to web pages for the AIN, CORE, and JDM are done, online ordering page is done, now I'm testing the MF module for proper function. My plan is to get the rest of the how-to pages done today, stopping to take the pics makes it a slow process. :) I fully expect to start taking orders for boards this Friday. Until then! :) SmashTV

You could also cheat a bit on the log taper without weighting the values from the control side, see http://www.e-insite.net/ednmag/index.asp?layout=article&articleid=CA46509 Smash

Heya Xcen! They do ship to Canada. Later! Smash
