  1. Heh, until you posted those last two ideas, I wouldn't have said a CS based on the POV display would be practical ;)
  2. Tip for next time: Show your work so far... If you'd posted a link to that thread that you found when searching, I'm sure you would have gotten a different response. All we had to go on was that you'd asked the question, and given that the answer was available in search results, it's a natural assumption for SLP to think that you didn't search - especially since it happens a lot around here! Now you know another reason why it's important for everyone to search before asking - If you don't, then you make the laziness commonplace, and then people will assume that other posters haven't searched, when maybe they have. ;) Argh! I hate when that happens! I hope you've updated that thread with the information you gathered? ;) Good on you for posting the answer! :D
  3. I take it you've made the mistake of switching to vista then? Not to worry, you can disable the requirement for signed drivers (or so the wintel guys at work tell me)... But I'd be going back to XP ;)
  4. Well I would have the tracks run around the circumference of the circle, with step 1 in the vertical position, so a track will really "loop" :)
  5. LOL! Sorry for what? I don't see any posts... ;D OK, I'm rebooting the game. First word: Acapella.
  6. Fortunately, in PIC land the DMA modes are not really in our ballpark. Hey mike, did you try millennium? I found the media in the end...
  7. I think your response is a bit self-righteous cyutaeha. It's been said 1000 times to read read read, and use the search. If you ignored that advice then you can expect to be told once again. SLP: You could have used a smiley or two in there mate (or *whack*). I think your sarcasm was probably intended as humour, because I know you - but cyutaeha doesn't know you, so he might take offence (which he clearly has).
  8. Hey TD, why don't you attach the pics here, and use the youtube tag?
  9. Thanks Ganchan. Maybe you could add your pics to the wiki page with similar pics? More doco never hurts :) In fact, maybe this subject (removing detents) could do with it's own page? I'll leave it up to you.
  10. I think it's a great idea. I had this idea too when thinking about how to represent tracks of different lengths that loop in the same time... IE, 7 buttons on a CS that loop in the same time as 4.... But I gave up when trying to find a way to send live data to it. Good luck with the IR transciever! I suspect you'd have to write a whole new CS, but I'm sure it's doable.
  11. I've changed the topic here because I don't think that the midibox forum is the place for launching a boycott based on...well...nothing. I could be wrong, but I think God has bigger problems to deal with. Like, war, famine, poverty, and people using his name in vain in rants on the internet ;D
  12. I'm sure that someone online will have disassembled them... Maybe you can find some closeups?
  13. I would get a cheap project (or three..they're fun) from an electronics store and use that for practice...like a LED flasher or a 'spy bug' or AM/FM radio etc... Won't cost much, and if you kill it, it doesn't matter, and if you complete them you get a cool gizmo :)
  14. http://images.google.com.au/images?q=chocolate+bavarian So much goodness.....
  15. I often say something to the effect of, "if it looks good, it'll work good"... There are so many potential errors on that board I don't know where to start... My recommendation would be to start over, and take it slow, make it nice, and fix one problem at a time. Sorry dude :(
  16. Argh you solder and desolder the cable every time? Do you test it with a multimeter when you're done? Because that's introducing a lot of room for error... Sounds like this iron is OK, but you're skimping on IDC's and IC sockets and I don't think it's helping things... All that soldering and resoldering will cook the traces on the PCB.
  17. Yay! Fixed! I can smell bad midi interfaces from the wrong side of the planet. They're stinnnnky! Yep definitely. A few people here have them and they're known to work well, and are the standard "get this one" advice that gets handed out.
  18. Yeh, normally this wouldn't be workable, but with only 16 steps needed it should be functional... A lookup table would be nice and fast, or you might be able to do some bitwise wizardry if you're feeling clever :)
  19. Not sure about your algorithm, but 1182 - 11 - 2 = 1169 ;) Uhm... those fractions don't always work out, so make sure you round up to the nearest whole bit. No quantum PICs just yet :(
