Yes, you can use the LCD as a bar meter (like in the MB64). And if you built it right, every bar would be above its encoder. Although this makes it more visible, without looking it up somewhere numerical, youre still right. You would need a damn big LCD to exchange the real position of a real MF. But still, would be an option...

There are some LCDs which are working with a different way to control contrast and lumen. Best would be that you get the datasheet of that LCD and look the way, they suggest to control the contrast. But if you got it to work, does that matter? Hey, it works, doesnt it? Cool. ;D However, I would *not* power a 7805 the wrong way and I also would *not* power those PICs with a to high voltage. You could burn some of those chips. :-/ Why not power just the LCD externally...

Or just try if the jitter is still there, if you pull all those Ins to ground (just use a big jumper row and solder the apropiate pins together). Then you can at least work on with all that other stuff. It shouldnt be the pots. The pots will just result in a very slow value rising on the left and a very fast one on the right side. Perhaps its just a shielding issue. Are you using 10k pots? Using 100k or so can also cause big jitter. Is the jitter constant or just a wild big thing? Have you pulled all unused AINs to ground? Hmmm... I think thats all I have for now. Hope that helps out somehow...

I just had an (weird) idea... wouldn´t a AOUT (which will come) to a valueable resistor (that IC-resistor), a rotary encoder and a LCD showing the actual positions make something like a  "cloned" (tell me a better word...) motorfader? And: Wouldnt it be like half the price of the Panasonic MFs but having an "pseudo" - touch sensitivity (as soon as the encoder is moved and so on)? ??? :) What do you think of that? Mackie Control clone with ALPS MF clones ...  ;D Just not the feeling of MFs, but whatever, the LCD would show the value anyhow...

Reichelt ist tatsächlich einer der billigsten, die ich bisher gefunden hab: www.reichelt.de Man muß zwar die Abdeckungen und Pfeile teilweise noch mitbestellen, aber trotzdem kommt man meistens immer noch sehr billig weg. Knöpfe sind halt nun mal (mit den Potis zusammen) das teuerste an dem ganzen Aufbau (vorrausgesetzt man baut sich das Gehäuse selbst). Ansonsten kann ich noch ebay empfehlen. Da kriegt man zwar nicht immer das, was man *genau* will, aber die Preise sind natürlich unschlagbar (wer bestellt sich auf ebay schon Knöpfe... außer so komische Leute wie wir...). Aber aufpassen, das man die richtigen bekommt (entweder mit geschliffenen Loch oder mit Rändelschraube o.ä.).

And how much sparetime do you have? It took me now nearly half a year to finish the MB64 (still not done), since I am only able to work on that thing on every second (or so) weekend... And the money....... ;)

Then its definitely a short one or similar. Check the resistor of that pin, perhaps its broken and doesnt pull the pin up to 5V. Somehow the pin has to be pulled to 0V. So its either a short one to ground or a broken resistor! Now at least its clear now: Its not the ICs, not the core, and so its definitely something at pin 13: a short or the resistor. Hope that helps at last! :)

So I just will built the 4x6581 SID. Sounds dammit cool. And then, in some time, I´ll just built an 4x8580 one!!! ;D *HARHARHAR* DOUBLE SID POWER!!! (and much more less money then... ;D)

But please tell me that this feature will be somehow also available for the 6581. After you said that the 6581 is better, I bought four of them on ebay and now the 8580 is better? *ARGH*

If you can still touch the 7805, its absolutely OK. But what input voltage are you using? It could be that its switching off if to much power is drain, so it also wont get warm that way.

Really?? Hmm, I´m getting out of ideas with the time..... but as its only that one pin, thats not working, it should be something with its connection. Do me a favour, and measure the voltage of that pin, it has to be at 5V without a pressed button. With pressed button it should go down to 0V. Perhaps then we know whats up. Really weird up to now... :P

Okokok... aber die nicht-englisch-sprechenden-www.ucapps.de-Besucher dürften dann ein ziemliches Problem haben... da ist fast alles auf Englisch. ;D Naja, auf jeden Fall ist für die Idee schon was unterwegs, der AOUT, von dem ich geredet hab. Das erspart einem, einen kompletten VCA aufzubauen (geschweige denn, Ihn per MIDItoCV oder so anzusprechen). Also erstmal abwarten, was der TK zum AOUT sagt. Nö, aber du kannst die Firmware einfach auf Mackie Control Clone umstellen. Mackie und Logic Control sind voll kompatibel zueinander (also keine neuen Taster usw.).

There will be an AOUT extension for the SID in some time. I do think, this will be either something with a voltage or with an adjustable resistor (although a voltage can easily be transfered to a resistor value with an IC). Certainly this will bring a whole lot of new possibilities to the MBHP community! Digital mixing, panning, filtering and so on and so on will be no problem then! 8) Any idea when this is gonna be (*about*), TK?

Yes, then it´s absolutely the DIN. Recheck the wiring. (I know this is stupid, but whatever, you know...) Perhaps its not a short, but a broken PCB lane. Check the PCB lane of that button. And try to pull the pin of the IC directly to ground. I mean directly at the *pin*, not the jumper conn. You dont eventually have a second DIN ? ;D

Öhm, Treiber? Ööööh... nö... Hab einfach das Proggi installiert, die auf der HP angegebenen Einstellungen vorgenommen (inkl. Hardware - Check) und dann losgelegt. Keine Probs. Hast du evtl. schon mal den anderen COM-Port probiert? (Obwohl das kaum was bringen dürfte - nur so ne Idee). /edit: Abhilfe wäre vielleicht, das ganze auf einem anderen Comp zu probieren. Ist ja nicht allzu aufwendig. Bei irgendeinem Kumpel mal probieren, und wenns da funzt, gleich alle Chips, die man so braucht brennen.

Hmm, ich hab auch Win2K laufen. Bei mir funzt alles ganz normal. Glaube nicht, daß das an dem Betriebssystem liegt...

Sounds like a power issue to me. How hot does the 7805 get? Whats your Power Supply voltage?

Habe mir grade nochmal die Schaltung angeschaut. Also da sind 220 Ohm Widerstände drin. Ich würde es jetzt erst mal mit 150 Ohm probieren (an einer LED). Wenn das nicht passt, 120 und dann erst 100. Aber wie schon gesagt, unter 100 bringt erstens kaum noch Helligkeit, und ist dann schon ziiiieemlich heftig. Bei 150 sollten sie schon genügend leuchten. Gruß pay.c /edit: Manmanman. Sorry, natürlich nicht an einer LED, sondern an einem Widerstand vom DOUT. Z.B. R17 austauschen, dann sollten alle linken LEDs der Ringe heller leuchten. So, das wars jetzt aber, hoff ich. ;D
