  1. I agree with pay_c i have quite a few custom boards I have done and each one seems to be specific to my application for that box. I have also found that cutting and pasteing is the best bet with a few hard wires. it won't be rocket science. My Moog Modular V is 2 X (6in. X 9in.) boards with 1 core 2 ains 2 dins sorry no douts... but again... there's that connector for that and it's not rocket science happy to give you the pdf's of these files... sorry I take eagle files, turn them into postscript files then edit them in photoshop to get wider runs and bigger pads... etc, etc, and of course, etc....... the final pdf's are printed 1:1 and work perfectly. good luck, and let me know if you want this stuff gb
  2. DO NOT APPLY THAT SOLDERING GUN TO ANY PART FOR YOUR MIDIBOX!!!!!! it will fry any chips and most of the semiconductors ( resistors, capacitors, transistors) get a low wattage iron (not gun) ... somewhere in the 10 - 20 watt range good luck gb
  3. a couple of entries over in the Miscellanious thread also. Requiescat in pace, Dr. Bob. gb
  4. Damn!!! I've owned MOOG products since the early 70's. 3 mini's, multi, poly, micro. This man defined and created the popular synthesis movement. He was not really a musician. He was an engineer and a scientist. He created. He understood the parameters of the subject in which he was so proficient, electronic engineering. He also understood the physics of 'sound', and created magnificent machines to realize the sounds electronically. I believe many on this list have the same properties. Engineers, garage geniuses, entrepreneurs. If you have a spriritual construct / belief structure... pray for his family and his memory. If you admire the 'spirit' of his convictions, BUILD STUFF !!! His best legacy would be that we all honor his accomplishments, respect his memory, and strive to meet or excel his knowledgebase. In my mind, TK has done ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! Let us all grieve, but look to the future and propagate the knowledge ! gb :'( :'( :'(
  5. as with all chemical reactions, heat and aggitation are the easiest way to accelerate the process. I have not used a packaged system for doing this but have experimented with heating my solutions.... with varying results. Living in Texas... our ground water comes out of the tap at approx. 28-32 degrees C, depending on the time of day. So accelerating the reaction through temperature is not a factor. I have found if I heat up the solution too much... in the area of more than about 39 C i have problems with the solution invading the etch resist to aggressively, and obliterating it! (I have ruined quite a few pcb's because of this....better to let the temperature be about ambient I believe)((unless you live in the Sahara ;D )) The bubbles on the other hand are a good thing... you don't have to 'shake the tray', as it were. anyway... nur meine zwei pfennig! gb
  6. machine? I just use my 8" X 10" darkroom trays. 5 bux each. buy the chemical in bulk.... kilogram for about 15 bux. Sodium Persulfate works faster than the ferric chloride.. but it's not as clean a burn in my book. gb
  7. Damn ! Just years after getting back the MOOG name for his products... I was looking forward to a new line of modular Moogs in the next couple of years. Anyway, heartfelt good wishes to Dr. Bob. gb
  8. jeez TK this is a lot to absorbe....but thanx... it gives me someplace else to look. I will play with it over the next day or so.... gb
  9. Strange.... I got my sample request last week, but they did not send the x/y pad... grrrrr button pads and linear pots are kewl tho. gb
  10. ok, a couple of simple samples from the midiboxCV AnalogTools update: http://www.ggbnet.com/midiboxCV.html wave files at bottom of page I'll get some more up later gb
  11. Thank you ! ok, back to messing with this gizmo. Ramp and Sine LFO's appear to be functional... tho I must switch my analog modules (vcf/vca) to exponential to get good response... that's not a problem. and I believe I will be able to play with the waveforms and customize to my system. however, the EG is still kind of a mystery to me. without a trigger, I get 10.63volts out of the jack for AOUT7, when I trigger the module the voltage drops down to about 5.6volts, it does seem that the shape of the output is tracking the knobs/pots on AIN0-3, but after envelope finishes or I release trigger the output goes back up to 10.63volts again. I am unsure of the relationship of the numbers in the eg_table.inc to what voltage is coming out of AOUT7. but I am gonna play with that a bit also. anyway..... lfo samples available later today.... gb
  12. Will Do! 21st wedding anniversary today... will get some samples posted on my website tomorrow!! gb
  13. even if the gate thing can not be resolved.... i am thinking of making a second core/AOUT module... have one do midiboxCV, have the other one do AnalogTools. sounds/looks like the best of both worlds to me. ;D gb
  14. no, and no. :( but now that i kinda know where to look.....i'll do some digging on my own. Thanx TK!! think I will play with the waveforms and eg stuff too... this is gonna be a fun weekend!!! gb
  15. Thanx TK, I'll try that and see what happens. gb
  16. Step 2 It is actually working, kinda. I recompiled v1.1 with my mios_tables.inc - I do get CV out from AOUT1, tracks the keyboard. Not getting a gate output . -getting ramp lfo from AOUT5. -getting sine lfo from AOUT6. -envelope from AOUT7. (verrrry kewl) is this all correct, or am I missing something with the gate outputs? gb p.s. this really is a neat addon!
  17. Well, I have the hardware mods done... 8 pots for J5. However am not getting anything out. The lcd displays "analog toolbox is running..." but events don't trigger the gates or output voltages from AOUT. I recompiled with my working MIOS_TABLES file from midiboxCV (which intercepts keypress events). no luck. I will download v1.1 and see if I get any further. C ya gb
  18. This implimentation looks great TK. I have been saving funds to purchase parts for analog lfo's, and this solves that problem (since I am already running miciboxCV). I like Moxi's question about envelopes also. I would think somehow lfo could be set to one cycle that starts and ends on the gate signal..? does that make sense? oh well, I am going to play with the generic tools this weekend on my system. THANX TK !!! gb
  19. I agree with Moxi!! TK you ROCK!! I can't wait to try this on my system this afternoon. gb
  20. ahhh... understood. somehow I misread what was going on. I thought I read that we were replacing/bypassing the PC. (which would not be a bad thing, in my book) otay gb
  21. I know this is off topic but.. it sounds like you have been involved with the JAL ethernet project. ;D JAL/ethernet works for me and my robotics projects :) gb
  22. Sorry, misunderstood. I thought it was a sound card directly connected to a midibox.... i have been working with windowsXP embedded, joining my midiboxes with dedicated windowsXP system, attempting to increase response. the only multimedia drivers are sound/display related. No cdrom drivers, no games, no office applications. Just java/OS/hardware interface to midibox. Response time is good. Works really good with my midiboxMOOGModular worksurface. but..... it would be nice to be able to hook sound cards into a midibox (don't really think the pic is fast enough) gb
  23. Huh ??? who is doing this and where can I look at an example? gb
  24. Well!! that's damn good looking! 9700S on the bottom and your custom stuff on top. the hypothetical new AOUT... with R2R ladders is... at best a work in progress... nobody has schematics... or code yet.. when I burned my AOUT board, i made a double.... and I don't need the second one. but... hmmm... earthlink, are you in the US? if so.. i could mail this board to you... you just need the parts. I don't need a second AOUT board presently, and could burn more if I need em. the sticking point is the D/A converter.. it's like 25 bux each.... I got em as samples.... you get 2 as samples when you request them from the manufacturer. of coarse, I would want you to replace the copper clad boards that I burn. think you can get them at most any REAL electronix place, (NOT RadioShack) anyway.. lemme know gb
  25. the AOUT module definitely can output 1v/oct. I use it that way with all my DIY modules and my 9700S modules, in fact, it tracks v/oct better than the PAIA midi2cv8! IMHO. gb p.s. I'd like to see pix of your frac-rac setup also.
