  1. Here it is: http://www.grsites.com/modperl/fontview.cgi?dir=t&fn=TR-909 Enjoy!
  2. Hi! i've got an idea for a MIOS feature, that i believe would be a very expressive and useful thing. Unfortunatly i don't know a word of Assembler, so i thought i'd post the concept here in case anyone wants to make it themselves. I thought it would bee cool to make one or several sliders on a Midibox to work like a bow (u know, the thing you use on a violin). In other words, by pulling the slider back and forth you generate MIDI values (KeyDown, KeyRelease and in between that some CC value like Volume). If you pull the slider slowly, it generates a low CC value and so on. I guess you hardcore coders have thought out how you should code this already, but here's my idea of how the application could work like: 1. Constantly measure the value from the slider. 2. If the slider moves, send a KeyPress value and calculate the difference from the last position and output the result as a CC value. Larger difference -> higher value. 3. If the slider changes direction, insert a KeyRelease value, a new Keypress value and so on. 4. If the slider stops (and stays still for, say, 25milliseconds, so that there is no doubt that the slider really has stopped), insert KeyRelease and set CC to zero. I guess this is kind of the same concept that is used by the scratching programs out there, but this thingy would be a nice tool if you use, say, a Nord Modular and could assign the slider to a filter, volume, phaser or whatever. Can this be done as a MIOS application? Does it seem practical/dumb? Med vänliga hälsningar, Johan PS. I know i spelled "Unfortunatly" wrong ;) and by "KeyPress" i mean "NoteDown" or whatever it's called in MIDI... i spent 3 months coding Actionscript, so i'm a bit verbally damaged ;D
  3. cool stuff!!! 8) I like the "handboard" and Thomas' remote (i'm a sucker for "pocket calculator" stuff á la Kraftwerk :) )
  4. Big welcomes to myzehl, mr 1K (clap clap clap clap) ;D
  5. I your'e lucky you might run into some rubber buttons from some kind of electronics (like the ones on cellular phones). Then you might be able to take just the rubber pice, maybe remove any text on it with alcohol or something and then put it on top of the tact switches. I'm not saying that cellphone buttons are good on midiboxes, but i've seen other applications use these type of buttons too. I'll get back if i find a better example.
  6. "SID Engine", cool! I like the minimalistic approach. 8) MBSeq - worth waiting for.
  7. But if i get it right, the LSDJ-thing only delivers the MIDI clock signal: http://www.preromanbritain.com/gwem/lsdj_midi ???
  8. Firestarter has updated his project, for those who hasn't seen it... it's gettin interesting hmm hmm hmm... http://www.firestarter-music.de/lsdj/
  9. hm, sounds reasonable. Anyway, if Norman Cook wants one he is always free to build it himself :)
  10. I agree. As for the logo: OK, it's not totally geometrically correct, Germany is not in the center, the correct CMYK/RGB/Pantone colours are not defined and there are no rules defined for how to apply the logo on a car etc (see http://www.johanolsson.net/post/03.pdf and http://www.johanolsson.net/post/02.pdf for examples of such rules, it's in Swedish but you'll get the point). I made some logos before and it's a long, hard work with a result that hardly never is popular with everyone. I guess there are several professionals in this forum who could make a business-class tiptop logo. Or we could pay 5,000 Euro and let a design firm do it for us. ;) But since this is a DIY site, i don't think that is what matters. It seems to me that rasOfir has put some work into the logo, and i think it's nice. I sure give you cred for it, ras!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) But sure, it would be nice to see more graphic designs, like sketches and concepts for Midiboxes, for inspiration etc.
  11. Sounds cool! Maybe if some Midiboxers who live somewhat close together could build it? And everyone else could donate a small sum each?
  12. Oh by the way Gilles, cool movie! If it runs in Sweden i'll go and see it for sure! I'll maybe wear a "SID" t-shirt too =)
  13. Here's some music from the Swedish movie "Livet i 8 bitar" ("Life in 8 bits", US title is "Bit by bit"). It's made by the great band K-pist (http://www.kpist.net/). They haven't got an MB-SID, so iguess i'm fooling around in the wrong thread ;D... but it's C=64, so whattaheck, here goes: http://acme.iml.umu.se/johan/stuff/kpist-livet_i_8_bitar_soundtrack-psykologfight.mp3 http://acme.iml.umu.se/johan/stuff/tvspel.mp3 http://acme.iml.umu.se/johan/stuff/hellborg.mp3 http://acme.iml.umu.se/johan/stuff/j.mp3 All the MP3s are nameized by the band, so they are ok. here are some more k-pist stuff: http://acme.iml.umu.se/johan/?path=dl
DS.
  19. Beautiful!!! I looked at a C64 recorder the other day and thought about what I could do with it... but this is just too cool ;D
