I checked that pythos website after, I think David mentioned it, and seams that project is abandoned as no updates for a loong time. It didn`t catch me for some reason. I didn`t meant just pre-listening. It is too basic. I meant something bit more serious as Traktor player included in browser. When you like the track... you just send a command (MIDI) and it is loaded in the previously selected sloth. Simple as that. If they want to sell Live as a software for DJs and not a tool then It is a MUST. There are more things of course. Live 5, 6 and 7 I never liked Idea of third party software sits in between. Maybe I`m just paranoic about it. But if all that is running on Wintendo as TK calls it, it dont makes me feel safe from crush enough. :-\

Asaf, thank you for your efforts getting the info from Sifam for us. I believe this way is better for most of people. What exactly you mean by round ones... splined/knurled (18 splines) or smooth surface? I have more that 100pcs of splined metal 10KB Pots so I would like some splined ones too even it makes no sense at all. I just get myself 120 nice Re`an knobs but it is so hard to resist the bulk order especially because Sibalco sells same for price of 1EUR/piece! I will never finish any project because of all those batches :P Great! Can I help you somehow? If you show me some ideas, I might have some advice. I would really love to see people designing the x0x as I found original x0x so boring!

If so, you saved me too. Thanks. I`ll go that way. It is really difficult to test every idea before deciding about design. Having all the wires, buttons, pots, pcbs all around isn`t fun at all. Especially as I have no dedicated workbench and I have to take it off the kitchen table when my lovely comes hungry back from work. I made short circuit because of lose wires before or brake some connection and lost alot of time to find that stupid problem. :-\ So I really like to have controls mounted on a panel before configuring and testing it.

That is what I said. If you chose Remote SL Live will think Remote SL is hocked onto MIDI interface. I don`t know where did you get that initialization from? There is no such a thing. There is no any kind of handshake between controller and Live. If you look around you will see people mapping their commercial controllers to send specific Mackie messages so they can navigate trough clips or such. It really have nothing to do with initialization. I think you misunderstand him. He obviously have selected Mackie Control in Live`s Control Surface list, but he dont need to swear on his mothers life he is really using Mackie Controll. ;D We lied to Live, so what! If it thinks we are using Mackie, let it be, why you are complaining. ;D ;)

Yes, that was only solution I would think of, and I`m capable doing, but wouldn`t bank switching took to long for comfortable usage? If switching takes as much time as MBSID takes to switch between 2 presets it is not very good solution. I remember I was bit disappointed when I discovered cannot send patch change to SID along clips MIDI notes without a glitch from Live. Thorsten explained negative MIDI delay is solution but unfortunately Live don`t have that option. :-\ Maybe in some next version. Live users would be very happy if Abletons decide Live finally have everything MIDI mappable. Is it so hard to have something like MIDI mappable browser navigation and pre-listening tracks before loading into selected slot... To me it should be one of main features that serious DJ sofware needs to have. It is like DJ can play only the tracks from juke box without a freedom to decide freely what they will play next or they can load superbig project which makes no sense because of many reasons. Abletons just need to look at other programs that DJ use for some MUST HAVE features. Anyway, I`ve gone offtopic. :P

That is not true! I configured buttons and encoders of MB64E to test it and it works as it should. If you send A#6 @ Ch1 from any controller to Live, it will start playing. Also with other controls. When you chose Mackie in your Live host list Live waiting specific messages and sending specific messages. If received something not based on Macki protocol it ignores it same as MB64E ignores messages that dont understand that are comming from Live, like track names and such. I`m really not sure what kind of initialization are you talking about. I didn`t initialize anything and it works as it should - both ways! Yes, i know that but as I want to be using more than 8 analog pots that MBLC allows and LC cannot be chained to other MB I need one more MIDI pair for handling that another MB64/E. You are right. For a moment I thought I`m saved. ::)

As I said I received knobs from Prof yesterday (UK). 120 Pieces all in one fairly small bubble envelope. Postage and envelope cost just 2.70EUR to be shipped to Serbia. :) I think it is cheap and it hardly could be cheaper shipped from Israel. We don`t have to forget about import tax that dont exist if the knobs are ordered within UK. 51GBP is alot of money and I think i really is better to do everything from UK. I appreciate your efforts asaf and thank you Goblinz for offer for help.

You are right about Israel international shipping. It s cheap. I remember that as I was into bulk Kartoshka organized for LCDs. But, he didn`t payed much for shipping from US to Israel. I think i was something about $17. Is the 2000 minimum order at Sifam or you think that much people are interested into those bullets? I like them, but I just received 120 Re`an knobs. Thanks Prof! ;)

I did similar thing but as I don`t wanna occupies 2 pair of MIDI and don`t need any of LC extra features except to use just MIDI notes of mackie protocol onto regular MB64E to access all the controls that arn`t available in Live normal MIDI mapping support. That was my original plan except I had in ming group switching instead MIDI channel switching, but I think it might be the same. I found a meta for switching to global MIDI submenu, bu not for direct access to MIDI ch1/ ch2... It is not sophisticated. I think it is fairly simple... MB64 handles roto pots and start, stop, active, record and cue buttons with corresponding LEDs and transport and navigation buttons. MB64E handles faders, encoders and bottom 2 rows of buttons. Cores are chained, and sharing one LCD. About coding... I`m so out of it. :-\ what about pots? same thing as with buttons? so, if I chain 2 cores it will affect both? That is bad in my case. :( Will be solution to have group width 16. Use 10 encoders as encoders, and rest of encoders configured as a CC Inc/Dec and connect the buttons to their pins? I think what Rob B suggested ..switching banks would not be practical for accessing so meny times. I would like to have fast switching back and forth. Would bank switching be suitable for this?

That postage is pretty high, maybe would be good idea if someone from UK is willing to organizes that bulk as the company is UK based.

I feel so stupid! :-[ After reading what Cimo said in this post http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,10465.msg79256.html#msg79256 I realized my long and detailed planing, drawing and making few test PCBs are wrong. I tested group function just with few encoders and not with buttons and I thought buttons are also affected by groups. So my bottom row of very important multi function buttons is useless now. :( Its Ableton Live function meant to be changed by rightmost (group select) buttons "C" and "D" So, If I use those A/B/C/D buttons to change MIDI channel instead of bank, as Cimo sugested as a workaround, will it effect MIDI channel change of current group or no matter what group is selected. I`m little bit confused with that meta event. Having buttons organized in some kind of groups is more important to me than having grouped encoders as I already have dedicated pots for important controls. All suggestions very much appreciated. Thank you.

Public PCB artwork would be fine. ;)

Great! Must have addon to any SID synth. :) Thanks for samples.

I told you in last post... for x0xb0x orientation should be North. I just put pot with mentioned South knob on PCB just to be sure. Definitely North!
-
Asaf, there is one very important parameter when selecting the knob for x0x. It is shaft orientation. For x0x it should be North. I get some small Re`an P675S-09-D6S knobs but forgot to check the orientation so I ended with wrong knobs. :-\ So, before proceeding, please ask them about shaft orientation so we don`t make my mistake.

As you know I`m living in Serbia, and here everything except books need to go to customs officers on approval. Very often they return me the package even I declare it as a gift, reason... "trade sample" ??? >:( So, I need to wright special declaration with every parcel I send and pray they dont get suspicious about it. But, that is not the point. The point is no matter how good I wrapped the package they will cut it out and just throw it into bubble envelope. I reckon it could be shipped to Mars without a scratch if I only can ship it directly. Needless to say they are charging that package damaging pretty much. Fuckers! >:( Sorry for that, but I can`t do anything.

NP. dj3nk, thanks for informing me. ;)

I ordered one powder coated panel for testing purpose. Only problem is CNC bit is 3mm diameter so the corners for buttons will have 1.5mm radius. After Mike order the buttons from Digikey and ship it to me, I will see how much exactly corners should be trimmed. I already did that for the Endorphin. It wasn`t too difficult and the price for that kind of panel is pretty fair. Big plus is that material milling and powder coating is done in same company and laser engraving can be done by ma personal laserman. Laser engraving of powder coated aluminum resulted in fine, clear and sharp edges (I tested various font sizes). I would take a picture of it but engraving is done on the back of my Endorphin panel so it is not that easy to reach it now when it`s mounted. :-\ But you will see the final result when second test panel be ready.

I know which is which, but not gonna tell you now. I want to hear your thoughts and votes first. ;)

Mama mia, quello è incredibile! ;D Great finding!

I didn`t said which sample is 2SC945P. :) So you are saying 2nd sample is 2SC945P?
-
It is not like we are voting for president. ;D I personally don`t build x0x to resemble as much as possible to TB303, I just like that sound. If the box with replacement parts sounds good enough to me, than I`ll build it with replacement if it is easier or cheaper to get. Some people suffer 303 syndrome and tend to say that nothing is like TB sound. I reckon most of them cant notice the difference. ::)
-
I received the samples from friendly x0xb0x builder and decided to open the poll about difference between 2sc536f and 2sc945p. Please listen and vote. Thank you. http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,10756.0.html

I just received direct comparison samples of 2 boxes from x0xb0x builder. One is with 2sc536F and another with 2SC945P. I`m not expert for 303 sound but you might be. ;) x0xb0x 1 saw square x0xb0x 2 saw square 2SC945P seams to be direct replacement for 2SC536F transistor and seams Roland used it on their latest TB-303s.

The knobs are from Sibalco. My friend get them for his controller and they are splined shaft. They are just for illustration. I`m not sure does sibalco sells D shaft with propper orientation in smaller quantities, as those splined are stocked on their spare list. They are very expensive if you ask me 1 EUR piece and even they look and feels very nice and they are very good build quality (no mold signs on it) they don`t worth 1 EUR >:( There is another US based company, i think it is Sifam, and they have exactly the same knobs as Sibalco. ???
