I want it as a desktop but it seems like no one else is interested.
-
I'm currently thinking that it would be nice to have the drum sequencer from the MB808 plus a bus board to support drum modules. It could e.g. be Eurorack compatible which would have the following benefits: - there are already many Eurorack modules from Analogue Solutions and MFB which could be used - it is an existing standard (+/- 12V, +5V, CV/Gate on the bus) The standard could be modified a bit so that the CV and Gate bus are used for trigger and CV signals for the specific modules although currently no drum module supports that. It would mean something like a pre-patching. In this case the PCB has to include a bus board which carries the different triggers/CVs to the connectors. The sequencer would be at the bottom, the modules in the middle and trigger outputs at the top for those modules without Gate access from the bus. The housing would be then be a desktop case. Maybe with optional rack ears. Is someone interested in something like this? My main problem is that I'm not able to design such a desktop case.

Is anyone still working on a standalone MB808 sequencer PCB?

I feel like I'm the last one soldering the PCBs I made the groupbuy for. :shifty: Am I blind or is there no IC1 aka LM336 in there? Does anyone know if I can use a BC337-16 instead of the BC337-25 listed in the manual? The core orderlist lists a BC337-16 so I'm a bit confused.

MB-SEQ V3/V4 Control Surface PCB and matching case
sonicwarrior replied to Wilba's topic in MIDIbox SEQ
Do you have a wiki account? -
What's up with the backpanel? http://midibox.org/forums/topic/14547-midibox-seq-aluminium-desktop-case/page__view__findpost__p__129462 And I think in quantities of 20+ silkscreen panels would be cheaper than engraved ones and also look much better. So I guess the 'matching case' part is obsolete?

MB-SEQ V3/V4 Control Surface PCB and matching case
sonicwarrior replied to Wilba's topic in MIDIbox SEQ
That would indeed be great. I hope he reads this thread. Anyway thanks for all the efford you already put into this project and your other projects! :console: -
I didn't populated anything, just collected the parts. But it seems it will be better for you to buy the parts from Trevor and Rapid.

Here is a list of what is missing (everything else is included): - Audio jacks for PCB mounting (Neutrik NMJ4HFD2 @ Mouser) - Power switch + jack + fuse + fuse holder - 4011U (unbuffered) - 6 x 80K6 1% 271-80.6K resistors - All E12 resistors (Every serious DIYer should have them anyway) Capacitors: - 1 x 0,33uF Electrolythic 647-UVZ1HR33MDH - 2 x 22pF Ceramic 147-75-220 - 7 x 100pF Polysterene 23PS110 - 3 x 220pF Polysterene 23PS122 - 4 x 470pF Polysterene 23PS147 Potentiometers (available from http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/esr/ ): 470R Linear 1 947-147 100K Log 1 946-410 100K Linear 3 947-410 1M Log 2 946-510 10K Linear 10 947-310 47K Linear 9 947-347 470K Linear 4 947-447 50K Dual Linear 1 949-350 - LEDs (3 in total, I can provide 3 orange 3 mm ones from Osram but I guess everyone likes different LEDs) - 3 x 28 pin IC sockets (for the EPROMs) -> According to my list I should have them but I can't find them :( - Ribbon cable (AWG24 or 26) & braid - Case - Knobs for the pots I don't know what I can ask for this. I would say: Make me an offer.

Getting the Midibox CV to work with Yamaha CS-series
sonicwarrior replied to sonicwarrior's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
That is the main function of the PCB. ;) -
I want to sell my half-kit. If you are interested I can list the contents when I'm at home. This would save you a lot of time as I've already collected the hard-to-get parts. Unfortunately I'm getting less and less time to do-it-myself.

Hi, in his build report of the all-in-one Midibox CV PCB rvlt reported a problem when using Yamaha CS-series mono synthesizers (CS-40 and below). I'm opening this as a new thread because else the posting may get lost without any notice: It does interest me, too, as I own a Yamaha CS-30 (but I haven't built my Midibox CV yet). According to sequencer.de the cv/gate data is: So Gate Polarity should be set to negative and Output Curve is Hz/V. As far as I understand the documentation the Hz/V curve has to be calibrated. Or is it better to use the Oct/V output and a converter like this one: http://home.swipnet.se/cfmd/synths/schematics/oct2hz.pdf ? Almost two years ago I designed a PCB for this converter including the simple V-Trig to S-Trig converter from the Doepfer homepage (see attachment). So if it is really better to use such a converter and if there is enough interest here I will make a PCB run of these (and previously test it as it as it currently untested). Q1/Q2 can alternatively be LM394 or SSM2210 which are cheaper than the MAT02.

Midibox CV "All-In-One-PCB" build report
sonicwarrior replied to rvlt's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
What exactly is the problem here? Wrong tuning in the lows? Maybe it's better to use the Oct/V curve and an analog Oct/V to Hz/V converter? (MS-02 schematic or something like that, perhaps the one from the ASM) -

The problem is that it seems that Doug currently has other things to take care for. -
MIDIbox CV PCB (CORE+AOUT+DINX1+Bankstick) + 2 x MAX525
sonicwarrior replied to sonicwarrior's topic in Bulk Orders
Everybody can make a wiki page for this project I guess. I just did the group buy to make sure the project happens. The PCB design came from suital and everyone knows that the schematics, etc. came from Torsten Klose so it is already a group effort. @SHX8: Don't remember that one but as I mentioned: I didn't design the PCB. -

MIDIbox CV PCB (CORE+AOUT+DINX1+Bankstick) + 2 x MAX525
sonicwarrior replied to sonicwarrior's topic in Bulk Orders
That's good news. :) The 3 sets from the jump-offs are gone. The MAX525 are almost gone (4 definately and 4 are in the making of being gone ;)) -
Updated the first post with the MAX6007B alternative LM385.

MIDIbox CV PCB (CORE+AOUT+DINX1+Bankstick) + 2 x MAX525
sonicwarrior replied to sonicwarrior's topic in Bulk Orders
Btw.: The MAX525 arrived at the end of last week and I emailed every participant. I've sent the first sets on monday. 3 sets (PCB, PIC, 2x MAX525) are still available because of jump-offs. If someone is interested: Please PM me with your email address. I had to order 108 chips because of a bulk quantity of 18 (108 = 6 packs). That means 8 MAX525 chips are available separately of which 2 are already gone. So 6 MAX525 are left if someone is interested in them. Btw.: Would be cool if we could bundle our forces for a frontpanel or case groupbuy. I myself am planing to use a MOTM- or DOTCOM-like Schaeffer frontpanel on one MIDIbox CV and a desktop or rack case for the others. I'm willing to do a second groupbuy for the PCBs if there is interest but I won't include the PICs and MAX525 this time. The latter caused most of the trouble + delay, it's easier to ship PCBs only and I don't have to handle that much money (remember: PayPal sucks). Edit: I forgot to mention that in this PCB you don't have to use a MAX6007B. The alternative is LM385-Z2,5 (Reichelt order number). See http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,4026.msg26638.html#msg26638 (sorry, it's in german) -

MIDIbox CV PCB (CORE+AOUT+DINX1+Bankstick) + 2 x MAX525
sonicwarrior replied to sonicwarrior's topic in Bulk Orders
It's still 2 months until I get the MAX525. :( I'm so happy when this groupbuy is over. I will never do something like that again and a PCB groupbuy is the maximum I'm willing to do in the future: I can buy these here in Germany, there are easy to ship and I don't have to bother with lead times and currency conversion stress (like Euro/Dollar course). People who've done a few a groupbuys and are not pissed off are my heroes (e.g. Wilba or Doug Wellington). Maybe I just have lack of organisational talent ... or bad karma. ;) -
