hi any USB hub will offer max 500mA, 5 volts.It is usually not recommended to power boxes with the USB hub but i did it a few times without any big issue. So yes you can do that, nothing special top be done on th ebox, but 400mA can be quite a threat, some transient current load and your lappy goes blank. Cheers

have you placed the bypass caps on the bottom side? you can also try to solder a 100uF polarized cap at Vin in the DOUT module, but i can t guarantee it will stop the noise. Simone
