hi and welcome! 1 what s the point of controlling an amplifier via midi pedal/midi interface/relay switch? why don t you just use a pedal switch connected to a relay? are you planning automations? 2 if you re doing so than here at uCapps you can find all you need.Your needs are quite simple. You need a Core, a DIN (connects to the pedal), a DOUT (connects to relay or digital switch, relay would be probably noisy..) browse around and you ll find all you need. cheers simone

hi so i decided to build my own backlit buttons, set off to copenhagen and went to the ONE and ONLY electronic shop in town, i got leds, pcbs etc but, big surprise no PCB mounts switches.. so i am asking for somebody here in the forum to send me a few units, possibly the 12X12 mm but also the small ones are ok just for experiments.. i really don t have anything to salvage here around. Of course i am up for paying back material and shipping. Yo that s it, i do hope somebody can help me i need something like this: @ conrad.de Article No.: 705209 - I5 Article No.: 700410 - I5 txxx simone

ok i got it! thanks still i haven t found the answer to this anywhere: how much data can i see on the lcd? i mean how many pots can i see on it all together? and can i assign names/values to the pots? will LC retrieve names/values from the host? and what does it mean 6/9/12 o clock about the viewing angle for the lcd? and lcds with the same pixels amount (128X64) may have different size, does that mean that a pot "icon" will be seen as an elipse on some models? regards simone

yes well done i did the same but then i moved into a wallet issue (3 pounds each) ;-) let us know when you re finished thanks simone

hey stef have you been using those buttons for quite a while? i am looking for nice backlit buttons and yours look like being that but after i ve spent a fortune on rjs that after a few sessions stopped doing what they were supposed to... well those cost 10 time less but i wouldn t be surprised if they re better.. what do you have to say about them? I ll be probably doing my own custom made buttons but if there a good chance to buy buttons that will survive my abuse ... let me/us know simone

hi i ve bought it at a shop where you buy stuff for scale trains, radio controlled cars and airplanes etc. not really sure about the proper name.. BUT it will fit 2 mm screw and it s quite thin so it will only work for 1/1,5 cm distances, over that the whole thing would probably be too unstable. ANYWAY they had other kind of pipe to be sold per meter, different materials and i am sure you can find a similar shop where you live, otherwise take a trip to the amazingly beautiful city of Ringsted,Sjaelland,Denmark and remember not to miss the best Danish pastry : the Froesnapper. Another thing you may wish to have a look at is this guy called SureElectronics on Ebay.com, he sells a box with different screws, threaded spacers, nuts etc all M3 sized. If you plan to build up many layers of PCBs threaded spacers are better for the stability. If you re looking for really thin design (i managed to stack 2 PCBs with encoders and leds in 1 inch!) then go for the plastic spacers and use bolts on top and bottom of EVERY PCB stacked, that will ensure that your pile won t swing around. In my case it went this way (starting from the bottom): Flat head screw/throught the bottom of the box/bolt/spacer/bolt/PCB/bolt/spacer/bolt/PCB/bolt (front panel is independently attached to the box) but you can go the other way round, starting from the front panel, that make more sense in most cases. Cheers Simone

hi i agree with SASHA, i used plain steel 2 mm screws and bolts (hard to find!) and plastic spacer (bought 1 meter and cut at need). Simone

hi infact i ve already contacted the seller cause it says it has a kso108 driver while in the manufacter s web site it s stated differently.. so i will wait for an answer. But what does it mean low-performance? i plan to have two of them in a MBLC, i guess i need 2 CORES to drive 2 LCDs but i plan to skip the ledrings stuff and use the GLCD to monitor the encoders status/midi feedback. It would be 8 encoders per GLCD, but really i need to dig into the LC code and LCD behaviour cause i never used them before, anyway help is welcome. EDIT: the box will feature 8 analog pot 28 backlit buttons 17 encoders 4 buttons 2 GLCD 2 cores with MBLC AND midi input in case the driver is NOT a KS0180 will that work anyway or is it not reccomended? hallo still looking for a LCD and i ve found this one on eBay, ain t that cool blue/white stuff but it s very cheap,, since i am not an expert about LCDs maybe somebody can give his/her advice/comment: http://cgi.ebay.com/HIGH-RESOLUTION-128-X-64-GRAPHIC-LCD_W0QQitemZ220118062470QQihZ012QQcategoryZ26206QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem from the manufacter : http://www.jeanlcd.co.kr/product/product_list.html?cateid=12

it goes this way: what do you really use all the time in Ableton? in my case it was on/off for plugins, tap tempo and 4 faders, therefore i don t have play, stop, etc i don t have any button assigned to clips for i launch them with the mouse, no MB menu buttons, no datawheel, no LCD so my MB is supplied by the USB hub BUT hey it s you the one who s gonna use it, nobody really knows better than you what you want, just consider what s the final use for your controller and, as long as you re not going to control a multi track studio recording, keep it simple, no real need for 150 pots 32 motorized faders and hundreds of buttons, you have only 10 fingers all in all, and with presets, midi channel switch you can control alllot. simone

hallo the only reason i am not into Linux-Audio anymore is because i moved to OSX and that s far the best OSX "ready made" for audio apps at the moment. Still i use different flavors of Linux in a old PIII desktop i use for internet, writing, trying to mess up everything (Fedora then Suse and finally Ubuntu). There are specific Distros dedicated to audio/video with low latency Kernel ready to go and support for USB audio etc. Planet CCRMA is one of the best and they have i cool mailing list full of info. Agnula DEMUDI is another good one (finally something to be proud of, as italian citizen ;-) .. there are a few more out there and i am planning to create a Linux based Desktop system "a la receptor" to be controlled with my powerbook.Any input is welcome, has anybody stumbled into some similar project? i remember there were some rumours ... And yes i think it is a good idea to promote Linux as audio software (is there any need to promote it as the best "daily use" OS after the Ubuntu CD Installer? how smart is that?) on uCapps. We can keep this thread open as a start point, i have some experience to share for example. Then, if your aim is more into NO-windows then YES-Linux you may want to have a look at the osx86 project aka OSX in the latest x86 platforms.Stability mainly depends on the hardware you have installed. simone

MTE.. tomorrow my damaged iPod s drive is up for repairing, there is nothing really i want to retrive from it but it can be funny to learn how to deal with broken HDs Jidis.. i had the same problem some years ago and all my music projects were lost.. well it made me think of the uncertainty of life itself and that we all have to start making funny noise and some day.. die.It also made me understand that most of those projects were useless c++p (far from me meaning yours were) so i started new ones and they are still c++p but better and more fresh c++p see in your data loss a message from the holy digital that it was time for you to enter a new dimension, pick up your camera the world is still out there and your mother s little nephews are waiting for you, push Nuendo over the limit, download the latest MB64E application, don t look back... or better .. don t look back-up. hey there i am not in a hurry anymore thanks to the shopping wisdom of stryd and jidis (btw jidis i didn t have any use yet for the stuff you ve sent me.. were those lcds backlit or not?)(and, i wonder how your place may look like, ;-),, anyway i really want to get hold of some lcds within weeks, yes he also sells 2X20 and 4X20 QUESTION: do i need 2 cores to drive 2 4X20 lcds ? do you think is it better a 128X64 then a 4X20? o mean is it really better ?(MBLC) i am in denmark and i am up for a group buying from that gut, he offers up to 30% discount for combined shipping, and he has some nice stuff.. let me know simone

..well i have 4 months to prepare my next project (a midi controlled carrot juice machine that will be triggered by the sweat on my armpits) but i want to have all the components within 2 months to draw all the eagle libraries, prepare eagle layouts for pcb, draw the front panel and get the material for the housing and, of course get some hundreds kilos of carrots. When i move out of Denmark end of September i want to go directly to etch sold etc. so.... i want a- 3 GLCD big enough to have an animated .gif of my mom saying hello on the left corner b- a bunch of nice soft illuminated pushbuttons, they have to keep me company when i am there all alone in the console.Anyone has tried those sparkfun buttons? how long is the throw? 5 mm is just too much otherwise i ll have to go for some hands building (it s like body building but just for hands muscles). c- some short faders (is it 60 mm a standard?) with the proper caps d- encoders, 24 non detented and if detented then dedetententable.Hopefully don voti.nl has some left and he could eventually slip in a bag of mushrooms.. e- 8 joysticks (is that another name for dildo?) .. sexy-farnell-shop has good ones for a cheapo if you have anything to let me know just do it, advices, etc that would be best to get everything from the same shop for the shipping cost.Anyway i have to say that it was fun to make a controller out of an old IBM keyboard but this time i want to get nice stuff, it has to be rock solid it has to stand me, my fingers and all the rest (flying glasses of cuba libre, etc) hope to hear from you soon Simone

hallo i have a bunch of rjs backlit buttons and they will NOT last that long if you use them for wild triggering.I used them on a box for djing, they activated fxs so i tapped sometime hard to find the beat, no way i had to change already those ones i used most, after a couple of months of use. Let us know about these other buttons. Simone
