hey thanks for the offer dengel, i'll ask my mate & see what i can do.
-
ok right, so a latching switch could be better so stuff like that & other mixer buttons...
-
thanks for the links! would using momentary buttons for stuff like solo only make the solo go on when when the button is pushed down?
-
thats looking very nice dengel. its really good to read what other ableton users are planning. a few things though... "My sets aren't limited by a button grid anymore." could you explain what you mean - you mean the scene scrolling with an encoder? also the waveform/device toggle, is that a midi paramater or are you using bome or something?

I've had an offer from a friend who can get me a CNC cut casing/panel but he seems to be quite unhelpful when it comes to telling me what software/file format i should be using for guy who will cut it. I thought that autocad would be fairly standard but ive no idea what CNC needs, does it need to be a specific program or could i even give him a handdrawn design on graph paper (id actually rather do this if auto cad is anything to go by, i used it at school but had a go recently & i cant remember anything & dont find it very intuitive)? what do you do all your designs on?

so should we or shouldnt we?! sounds like the general rule is that its probably better to but then others are saying its not needed. sorry for dragging this out but i dont really even know what these caps are doing, you're advice is gospel on these matters. so if it is best to add them can some one please post another pic or explain when exactly they are going on the modules i mentioned cos i really cant work it out from the pics, pdfs & gifs, i can see where one end goes on the pdf but i dont know where its going, maybe im reading it incorrectly. indebted thanks & apologies for the spoon feeding needed! :-*

haha yeah works for CIA, governments & even whole countries ;)

im also building a live controller, and i dont know much about electronics but ive found it fairly easy so far. i do sometimes think its never gonna be finished & that im in way out of my depth but everyone here are very helpful & willing to guide you. do it!

sorry but im still having trouble locating where the caps should go on the DINX & DOUT modules, and the shrink hose one on the AINX (well i just dont understand what that is, why is it so long & where is it going? I've looked on the various pages and in the pdf & gifs but i still cant make it out.

thanks for this post, it been quite useful for me just starting out. Just wish i'd read the soldering section before i started working on it ::) oh well, thanks anyway, its really good to read stuff like this.

Spare core parts & not enough & possibly screwed board
MEEF replied to MEEF's topic in Parts Questions
Thank you so much for your replies, im really grateful! And no i didnt know much of all that so thanks for educating me, i know surprisingly little about this (or perhaps not so surprisingly from the mistakes ive made!) so any spoon feeding is very welcome ;D Gonna have to absorb all this & check what ive already done. I will get back to you if there's something im not clear on. I will hopefully post a picture soon, although to be honest im reluctant to as i feel my soldering is quite embarrassingly bad. Thnaks again though, you've really helped me clear a few things up. -
Nearly finished soldering my first core module & there a few parts i cant work out what to do with. Ive got a red rectangle component (dunno what it is) which i presume is C6 on the schematic, that right? Also i have two capacitors (i think ???, yellow with 104 written on) but seems like there's nowhere to put them, after the C6 holes there is only the two under the PIC holder thing where i think the crystal goes, i'll come back to that, and then two on the top right hand corner. Even if it goes there i will still have a spare one (got a pack from Mike's shop). And the crystal, im confused about this. On these pages it says it goes on the metal side of the board but on SmashTV's map it shows as going on the top. Now the bad bit, I had to expand the holes of the trimpot (P2) but i was a bit heavy handed & managed to split the board slightly so the tracks werent meeting. I tried to push it back in & soldered the part in over the top, making sure it was making the connection between the broken tracks but my question is have i messed it up completely?

that's great, thanks for the replies! I know what you mean about the pro equipment, it would certainly be a lovely touch to have a nice blue one or something. Well I'll see how things are on the financial side of things when i'm ready to order, i guess its not that much more anyway. Cheers again, its most appreciated.

I don't know whether to go for a backlit lcd or a non backlit one. The non backlit ones sound easier to connect & are obviously cheaper but would i be losing out if i went for this option? Im not planning to use it that much except for debugging & stuff so not too worried about not being able to see it at a gig etc.

Hi, id definitely be interested in 5 of them.
-
well i really like the idea of a switch, i think it would be more functional than the buttons thing. Im planning to blow up the plugin GUI, print it & have that on the front of my box. So, the buttons would be cool to fit with the original design but i will use a switch if i can find one. Cheers :)

Or a 4-way switch would be better to replace 4 of the buttons if that is possible to implement.

Hi there, I'm sorry if this is a repeated question, I have searched the forum & read the articles on the website & just trying to digest it all so far. I'm planning to build a little midibox to control the Analogic Delay from here - http://www.interruptor.ch/vst_overview.shtml. So i don't need that much, just 5 faders, 5 buttons, 5 rotary encoders and 5 LEDs. I don't need a LCD (or is it better to use one anyway?) LED rings, or the LTC (from what i can see). But would I need a Bankstick? From what i've read on the website its just for storing presets, so as I'll be just using this for one plugin, is it safe to say i dont need a bankstick? I think I just need: 1 core 2 DINX 4's (or can i use just one?) 1 DOUTX Is this right? Also, I want 4 of the buttons to act so that there is only one active at a time, ie, can only have one selected at a time (applies to the button and its associated LED. Is this something that is done in the programming or the wiring? By the way, thanks for such a great site & forum, its such a gem. I really appreciate any help you can give me as i'm new to all this. There's so much to learn but i'm getting there with the massive array of information here.

thanks for the reply. I don't mind doing the work, its just that I don't know a great deal about electronics & thought that a premade one would be a good way to (physically) see whats going on before embarking on making my own. I just want to start off with a few pots & buttons & work up to bigger projects.

cheers for the link, just what ive been looking for!

Hi, is it possible to buy premade core modules?
