  1. there are 4 left on ebay 2 without the extra encoder and ring and 2 with....
  2. Rowan, Let me know when you've got it working with a PC.... I'm gonna call dibs on one of those baby's on ebay - pls let me know which one you guys are after so we don't bid against each other....
  3. I was up in Glasgow a few weeks ago... Do you know Mike G from The Sub Club?
  4. I had the same idea for mounting the laptop - makes perfect sense.... from what I understand the LCD display makes debugging and setting up the unit much easier - I'm waiting on parts from Smash now, I've also got an LCD coming because I want all the help I can get setting my box up and for the tiny amount of cash you can pick one up on ebay for, I think it's probably worth the effort just on the coolness factor right?
  5. Rowan, Re: >A nice Image about dB fader scaling for 100mm faders Isn't that a layout for log pots?
  6. Rowan, Have you had any luck connecting the tracker ball to a pc yet?
  7. > The perfect design in my eyes is something I could stock in the store with a 25 cent price tag. yay Tim! Now you know I'll be putting in an order for some! Can't wait to get the bits I've ordered (order in process apparently) - I feel like a kid waiting for xmas! D
  8. Cheers mate - have been speaking with Alps Distributor and have a special order from Japan being spec'ed now, so fingers crossed I'll have my uber pots soon....
  9. yes, of course the dout - my bad - just corrected it... ta for the advice
  10. lol, yes o rings pop up in the strangest of places ;D
  11. Hi stryd, > I've seen black rubber washer things that look just like those yes I know the ones you mean, oh man, how cool would it be to get those in clear! But I've never seen 'em either. I'm sure I've seen the usual flat type in clear plastic.....
  12. I'd like double up on some of the leds connected to a doutx4 - i.e. put 2 leds where you would usually put 1. Will there be any issues with the extra current draw? Am I likely to fry something??
  13. Hey Drin, Yup - that's my backup plan, but they are like kissing your sister compared with the ones ones people like Allen & Heath use (frosted with lovely domes).
  14. Anyone know where to get those Led diffuser rings (like the ones on the Allen & Heath xzone:3d)?? for anyone who is confused - they are the plastic rings that surround buttons and pots that the leds go under - they look all sexy and glowey but are a bitch to find... it;s the same sort of thing you find around the power button on an x-box
  15. ta! do you know if ALPS do push-push switch pots? or of any other nice brands who do a pot with a push-push switch?
  16. I'm just about to choose which faders and pots I'm going to put into my midi box - and I'm a bit overwhelmed with choice!!! I'm after 10k pots with switches and some nice long faders and some short ones too. Which brands does everyone rate for their their tactile feeling? Does anyone know what brands Allen & Heath or any other top companies use? D
  17. Hey Katch, You seem to be on the right track. A tip - if you're going to order the PCBs and or Kits from smashTv's site - take a look at the board layout on his site - very informative and also some of the jumpers have been moved around, so it's worth checking you have everything right from the get-go.
  18. Hi Katch, Cheers for the tip - I might just give 'em a call. BTW: I'm talking about the diffusers not the LEDs. The diffuser is the ring shaped lens (aka Halo ring) that diffuses the light and makes it all sexy that the led goes underneath.
  19. I'm not sure we are talking about the same app. There are 2 versions. Under Test Apps: ain64_din128_dout128_v1_3.zip and under Complete Apps: midio128_v2_1c.zip I'm talking about the latter, v2.1.... D
  20. to be honest I think it was pretty good in the 1st place - can't blame my lack of knowledge on the wikki now can we ;)! I just changed it so anyone being dense in the same way I was might get there a bit quicker...
  21. >There's a section in the Wiki, yes, that's where I've been going to get info. I originally read that and took it to mean, that you'd map one direction to one button in the host app (ie ableton) and the other direction to another button - i.e. right turn does the up button, left turn does the down button. but on re-reading, after your comments, all is clear. I've just added a sentance to the end of your entry in the wikki explaining what you said....
  22. >have a read about encoders just re-read the stuff on encoders, I had misunderstood originally. Now all is clear - ta!
  23. >not wanting to kill nice intentions, (and maybe you are just far better at this stuff as me) if you are sure you NEED 128 buttons, you could give it a try.. actually, I really want 134 buttons, but 128 is the max right? And yes I'm sure I need all of em. I'm building an ableton interface for Djing and live performances, I really need as much has possible at my fingertips, swapping between channels and params with a mouse just aint gonna cut it at 5am in a sweaty club with a skin full... I originally planned on building a 2 core beasty, but given that the app has been written it made more sense to go down the ain64_din128_dout128 application route. Do you think it's going to be hard getting everything up and running using the ain64_din128_dout128 route? I'd rather avoid anything that's too much of a head-fuck to configure on the first build. That's why I decided against a 2 core route, as I figured there would be lots more programming to do. I am sure I could handle the C code, but assembler scares me. >My 2c, I am never sure why anyone uses pots instead of encoders... For sliders and joysticks it makes sense of course... mmm, interesting. How would an EQ in abelton work using an encoder? The same way as a pot would? D
  24. hi stryd_one, cheers for the info and thanks for the warm welcome. >Yep, that means you've been bitten by the bug Oh no! I haven't even started soldering and already I have a bug! ;) D
  25. Hey Nas, No problem, you warned me to dbl check ;) From what I gather this is the kind of place where everyone is meant to discuss and learn together right! I'm a complete newbie to this level of electronic design, I'm learning so much my head is spinning, but I'm loving every minute. D
