New boards are ready, but there is an issue....

pair of pants eh? no idea why they call 'em pairs - but it gets worse, what you call a pair of pants and I what I call a pair of pants are different things! and let's not even start on what a thong means here and there ;) -
also, you've gotta remember the smaller the ball the worse the resolution is going to be - could be that they could be pretty much useless for ableton (and others) which you really do need a good resolution on the pointing device or you are going to click something you wished you hadn't I've gotta back stryd; Tim's store is amazing, his customer service is 2nd to none, the prices are very low, and he's a lovely man too. Personally I'm loath to ask him for anything over and above what he's providing at the moment, if I was going to ask/suggest anything it would be something that could make his life easier / possibly make him some profit.

The packaging from Smash is top notch - and you can actually get into the packaging with a knife without damaging the goods (or yourself), unlike most of the blister packs you find these days. Speaking of impossible to get in packaging - Am I the only one who's suspicious that it's a deliberate windup/attempt to injure people by the people who package the goods? I think quite possibly these people are aiming to perfect this and one xmas when every able bodied person in the world is either struggling to get into their presents or is too busy stemming the flow of blood from the injuries they sustained getting into the pack - then then will they launch their invasion and take over the world! -

hehehe, glad to spark a bit of deep (ish) debate... I stand by my orignial comments that most ppl you encouter are wrong in one way or another. BUT being a realist doesn't mean being negative, rather it just makes me even more determined to stick to my principals and make sure that I keep the right people close and the wrong people as far away from me as possible. it's as much about having the right people around you as it is keeping the wrong people away from you.... -
Rowan, I'm in the UK and I'd like some too, 4 would be ideal for me.... Does anyone have any idea where to get the knob for the top?

Can I toggle controls with boolen operators?
DavidBanner replied to henrygr's topic in MIOS programming (C)
hey stryd, sorry man - not trying to teach you to suck eggs, I got all excited about actually being able to give advice rather than being on the other end ;) Henry, audiocommander makes some really good points. When I first started coding I found a trick that helps you get your head around the logic: - before you do any code, write out the steps you need to go through as comments, that way you can work out the logic without adding the confusion of unfamilar code, and it means you've got well commented code (trust me, comments in code are the bomb, esp when in 6 months time you need to make a change to the code and you've forgotten everything to do with that code). Back in university you weren't meant to touch code until you've done you're nasty spiderman (nassi sniderman) or flow chart diagrams. and yes, get yourself a copy of a decent text editor - I can't get my head round untabbed code, first thing I do when I get some is tab it out, then start work... -
Sinnsyk, learning is a good thing though right?

ahhh yes, so they are - mini legs like umpa lumpa's, but thankfully no orange skin or green hair

that's because it's really easy to cook the PCBs unless you're a dab hand with an iron.... the warnings are there so newbies don't kill their chips. there is actually a school of thought that says it's a much better idea to solder ics to the pcb rather than using sockets. I allways use sockets, I'm pretty good with an iron, but given the risks I'd rather use a socket and be fairly confident the ic is in good shape.

Can I toggle controls with boolen operators?
DavidBanner replied to henrygr's topic in MIOS programming (C)
if you want to make sure a variable is an integer there is a function to do this: x is the variable you want to turn into a integer, interVar is the new variable to hold the integer var integerVar = parseInt(x); -
Can I toggle controls with boolen operators?
DavidBanner replied to henrygr's topic in MIOS programming (C)
stryd, switch statements don't use "else" in them, but you can have an if statement within the one of the cases of the switch. ie. switch (x) { case 1: If (y>0) { do whatever here; } break; default: catch all here } switch statements are great when you have lots of options, but they can be confusing at first. If you find yourself getting lost in the logic I suggest you use if/then/else/elseif, and build the switch (or not bother) once you've got the logic right. -
Can I toggle controls with boolen operators?
DavidBanner replied to henrygr's topic in MIOS programming (C)
the code does this: switch(pin) <--- takes a look at the var passed to it, which it's decided to call pin (meaningful variable names rock) case(1) <--- if the variable (in this case pin) is 1 do whatever it is you need to do, if not move on to the next case statement default <-- this is the catch-all - but only runs if the variable doesn't match any of the other case statements above the defautl break <-- this jumps out of the switch, it's put in the case statement operations to stop going through the rest of the options in the switch once you've found the one you want. -
yes, I'll be listening as hard to the Fruity Loops users as all those Reason users telling me how you don't need anything more than reason to release a record and everything else out there is unnecessarily complicated.

I didn't expect that to be the case, as everything was working fine before and I've already pluged and unplug the midi stuff to be sure - but I decided to give the midi ports a wiggle and the board a little shake and tap.... an lo and behold! I can upload again! yay! thanks now, to try to get the LCD to behave it's self....

Hi folks, My core was working fine and I was trying to get my LCD working when it went nuts and started reseting continuously, so I took the LCD off and left it alone for an hour or so. So now it's sending out the program request every 2 seconds, but it won't upload properly. When I try to upload it does the first block and then freezes - see the screen capture below. Please note the weird sysex msg it sends before it freezes: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 0E 0B 01 F7 I get this no matter what program I try to upload - I've tried everything from MIOS1.9 to the apps like LC etc :( Any ideas??

that's the thing about plastic - it's nice to play with for a bit, but you wouldn't want to live with it ;) -

how about calling it Danni? after Danni Minogue, the ugly(er) sister of a world class beauty (note: deliberate lack of comment on musical talents), but you still would.... -

just curious, why are you using ain64_din128_dout128_v1_3 and not ain64_din128_dout128_v2_0.zip? -
hey D, would happily etch for free - but it's not one of my skills...

i want to use my buttons as individual buttons.... do you think it's possible to cut the grid up and keep all the squares intact? I'm not so sure, I'm thinking I may have to lose half of em and cut down the middle of a row
