  1. Cheers Captain Hook. That would be the very thing!!! ;D
  2. erk-- a lot of asm- lost, totallty lost. In the ucaaps there are great example blocks of code, like how to send cc values when a pot has been moved. Is there an ASM version of this anywhere. All I want to do is assign 20 slide pots set values, and never have to touch them again. AAny ideas?
  3. I know it's not chiristmas....... :P QBAS did me some superb code for a 9 by 18 matrix. However, I want to add other function to the code (as one does), but QBAS is an assembly man, and I'm not. Am I right in saying that the main.asm file in the assembly version should become the mios_wrapper.asm in the sdcc skeleton, and just copy all associated files into the mios_wrapper folder OR am I just as stupid as George Bush? ::) Project nearly finished, so photos etc on the way..... Mark.
  4. I pulled this from an old Akai S3000XL. Have looked around a good bit, but cannot ascertain if it is usable with the MidiBOX project. Anyone any experience with it? Runs from SANYO LC7492 and LC7490. http://www.nanox.co.jp/en/01_product/m_qfp.html M.
  5. Am near completion of a keyboard that integrates a PC, a fatar 88 note weighted keyboard, a full set of drawbars (44) from a Hammond H112 (that's where mdibox takes over), a touchscreen panel and maybe a microwave oven (too much chance of the kitchen sink spilling over). Finish- Baykeaf tolex and a walnut veneer with brass etrusions. Will keep you posted. Mark.
  6. I have two suggestion and one comment. Suggestion 1 - Get one of the number pad only keyboards, and use that to trigger with macros, open file shotcuts etc. Suggestion 2 - Get a micro keyboard on ebayfor about €15. I got one. They are truly tiny and the wholeunit itself will felcro on to the front of a 2U with a bit (1 cm?) of overlap, or onto a 3U with room to spare. Comment - You seem to be building exactly what I am building- rack mpunt pc's, total control from actuators, and you (like me) probably have a touchscreen monitor (the ultimte). Is this a thing about Hammond enthusiasts? Mark.
  7. Had an Akai S3000XL lying around. Tought I'd rip out the interior to bang in a PC to take on the road with me (I needed a 2U ravkmount case). Threw all of its bits and pieces on eBay and made €250!! The unit itself wouldn't sell for €120. So you see, sometimes old junk is less than the sum of it's parts!!
  8. he he he. I have contacted QBAS. He is the man....... ;D
  9. http://cgi.ebay.ie/PREH-Commander-PC-POS-Jr-Programable-Keyboard-w-Cable_W0QQitemZ200078362638QQihZ010QQcategoryZ71474QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem FYI- Have a look at this.
  10. There is an article somwhere out there on the reproduction on a Juno106 using the Juno sliders as drawbars. Perhaps it could be modified to suit. Not sure though, sythesis is not my strong point. 1932 to 1976 I think, closed after its founder died in '73. Am renaming myself the HammondGeek I think!!
  11. Robin, I think there are one or two apps out there that allow you to control the PC via midi. I cannot think of their names, but a bit of intensive googling should fix that. Another option I use is to get an industrial keyboard- ie each button programmable in ascii. I have one, got it on ebay for €40 incl p&p. I then use VitrualMidiController to transform some of the keyboard input into midi (which I use for sequencer play, stop, mute etc etc) and the keys I don't transform I use as windows shortcuts to start either apps or run commands in MidiOx etc etc. Have a look here- http://www.logiccontrols.com/web/prodKB3.htm Keep an eye on ebay for 'keyboards' in Business, Office and Industrial. They come up about once a month, Best, Mark.
  12. My God!!! Is it that long ago I set out to do this?? Well, bad news. I'm back to finish it. he he he. Going with the matrix. Looking at the schems for the 8 by 8 module, it says that a diode needs to be connected at each switch. Not possible, and not necessary. As there will only ever be one contact in any row, they can share the diode (I think!!). I have posted elsewhere that cutting bussbars is a no go. Once before I even imagined doing it, and again, after I did it. It is really hard work, although the jury is still out, as I thought of another idea about it, though I bite my tongue till I am sure it is feesable. Now to the matrix. I could do woth some pointers in expanding the original 8 by 8 to 9 by 'at least nine' Any ideas where to start. If I expand beyond eight in either direction, do I automatically have to move into extra shift registers? Am totally lost in ASM. :P 'please hekp obe one kanobi, you are my only......' Right, head melted, off to watch Star Wars..... MP
  13. I think I have you roped in stryd_one......... ;D Please. More pity........he he.
  14. He he he...... Off the top of my head I can't remember QBAS' final build. I know he did it in assembley and was going to wikify it. Did that happen? I also reckon that for the final build I will go with the MB64 coding and use the midi learn function to complete the purpose. Not really, no. My troublesome hammond drawbar thing raising its ugly head again. (I swear, afterall this hassle, I am more commited than ever to getting a retrofitting section in the WIKI up and running asap!) I would settle for 9 by 18 though.... Steady now. Let's keep this site for all the family......he he. :-* ADDENDUM: How about 2 times nine by nine? That possible off of the same DOUT and DIN board?
  15. Folks, I am now weeks behind on finishing my project. And that isn't good, as my agent is starting to get on my back about this new piece of equipment I mentioned to him. So I am begging to your better natures to help me out here. Is the 9 by 32 possible? If not, what is? If yes, then would it work by 9 DOUTs and 32 DINs, or 32 DOUTs and 9 DINs? Is the code that needs to be altered in the main.c file only, or do I need to delve deeper? Thanks Guys. Mark.
  16. OK. Take it from me and lots of sweat. DO NOT, NOT EVER, TRY TO DO WHAT I HAVE ATTEMPTED. The drawbars wont take to the modified enclosure, It's like when you fix one error, an other one arrives. The solution is Scan Matrix. I got my DOUT module in the post today, so off I pop.
  17. Okay. I will repahrase. Naturally you want to use all three in CakeWalk. That uses DirectX i think. Anyway, set up your sequencer as though you are about to record, assigning each instrument to a different channel, and then setting up a midi filter to allow only the messages from a particular channel to access each of the individual instruments and their respective channels. TIP: B4 works best on channel one. Not necesarrily the input channel to your sequencer, but the output of cakewalk assigned as such.
  18. Danke ilmenator. ;D
  19. Want to join an International football team?
  20. Very easily. Just assign each of the soft synts to a specific MIDI channel in your VST host, and control them via your selection of midi channel. ;D
  21. Havn't a clue what he is saying, but I would guess the pick up goes into a preamp, and then through an app like Jamstix to trigger the saple! No? Mark.
  22. How did you get a photo of my mother in law? ;D
  23. OK. Post up ages now and no reply. Can anyone even pretend to be Irish? ???
  24. Lads, The amount of Yamaha PSR's on ebay is criminal. They are going or a song!! (Pun intended. Couldn't resist it) Now, as keyboards go, I would imagaine that most of you would share my opinion in that you wouldn't pi*s on one if it caught fire. But I bring this up as I reckon it could be a cheap way for a lot of us to build keyboards from the ground up. If we managed to get a scan matrix as well as pinout charts for posted and freely available, I think that might benefit a hell of lot of us. Even without that, the PCB's in them are miniscule. They are essentilly built the size they are to hold the speakers, so using the MIDI out from one could even be acceptable in that there would be plent of space to hold lots more components inside!! Thoughts, lads, thought. Ideas? I am currently working on a monumental task. A keyboard that has a PC housed in it etc etc. You can guess the rest, so I won't bore you with the details. Anyone on for the task? Mark. :o Addendum: Could someone please translate itno german "Would you consider posting to Ireland? Many Thanks, Mark". Cheers. Ebay.de is just a little treasure trove!!! ;)
