  1. Does the farnell site show the manufacturer? They are available in grey and white from Mouser. I can't find a Uk suplier for Eagle Plastic Devices, hopefully we could pin some on to somebody elses Mouser order. The BOM uses superbright LEDS so I'm guessing they are just standard knobs tat have just been found to let the light through. A bit of experimentation with other knobs may yield the same results, however, I'm guessing that the guys on the site will have already donw a bt of experimintation to find the best knobs to do this. When I illuminated Waldorf knobs I was so disappointed. Albs should really use some more blurry plastics and they would look nice. I especially dislike a view from the top.
  2. It's not mentioned in the data sheet, think it's an "unknown feature". Got the part number for Mouser from the BOM - 450-4011 and they are made by Eagle Plastic Devices. I'm going to try and find a source that isn't Mouser and look into getting some. These are nice knobs an the illumination is a bit more subtle than the Waldorf knobs. G
  3. I'm liking those knobs!
  4. They both came with a book. The Rubber Johnny book featured pictures of Chris where he had used photoshop to stick various bits of his body together in very disturbing ways. Apparently he spent weeks working on just afew seconds of footage for the video.
  5. Hmnn.. which one are you talking about... The one with Monkey drummer, the madonna and Aphex videos; or the "rubber johnny" one? Rubber Johnny is just wrong. I`ve been dreaming about it (from the moment I`ve seen Monkey drummer for a first time) but I think I`ll stick to my HDD drummer... way much cheaper. :P
  6. I have both of the Chris Cunningham DVDs and accompanying books... He's one sick puppy! Anybody fancy taking on a midibox challange and making something similar that has a little better timing?
  7. Be careful, what you don't see is the shoulder mounted lazer cannon! He may have a drummer strop! I didn't get much chance to talk to the guy but from as far as I can gather he just had a standard midi tracker and then used some sort of microcontroller to convert the midi messages into movement. The track for moving the arms between drums was manauly added to each tune... It sounded fine (from my addled festival prospective) but I can imagine there would have been a bit of lag... easily overcome with some sort or MIDI delay on the melody tracks. Not a replacement for a drummer or standard drume machine, but it sure as hell makes up for it in style and looks. It did seem to be drumming kind of in time and dribbles a lot less than a real drummer ;D G
  8. **Superbump!** I've found a tutorial on using a laminator and magazine paper for ransferring toner onto a PCB. This seems like the most appropriate place for it. http://fahque99.googlepages.com/board.html G
  9. Found this on Hackaday, thought it may be of interest to some people. http://www.hackaday.com/2008/06/30/tb-303-teardown/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/27688089@N03/sets/72157605885610767/ G
  10. Sorry, I've had no experience with youtube. I wasn't even sure if it would work with *.MOV files. Thanks Seppoman for posting the propper link. I'll crunch the rest of the videos down a bit and upload them hopefully tonight... (I ran out of time last night). G

  12. I found the most interesting drum controller at Glastonbury festival. It consists of 4 pneumatically controlled arms and 2 legs. Each arm has 5 degrees of movement to allow each to play 4 differnt drums/cymbals. It's midi controlled, one track per arm and then one track to control the movement between drums. The website is http://www.robocross.com/, look in the profiles section (flash site so can't provide a direct link) I'll post some videos and pictures tonight. Apparently they are working on the rest of the band. The workshop is based somewhere in Berlin (Pankow, I think) so I may attempt to visit them while I am over there in a couple of weeks. G
  13. NICE!
  14. Are you sure the controller is working correctly? Try plugging your MB6582 into your PC and try using a sequencer. Could it be that the opto-isolator is shot or in the process of going shot? G
  15. Not seen the x0xb0xmod, but will check it out when I'm home. Will be heavily modding one of them.
  16. It's not a full BOM, just some of the hard to find parts that Prof has is ordering. You'll have to source all other bits yourself. All the resistors and caps which he ordering are on one line too, rather than spread out one line per value. The rare parts are not in this list. Prof is not sorting out a full kit as sold by Adafruit, although what he is sorting out is close to a full kit, which is very appreciated. There's still a little bit of parts ordering to do. g
  17. Sounds amazing, gonna have to waituntill monday till I can play with it though. How does the 303 sound?
  18. Any ideas if she is fulfilling the pre-prders? It's a real shame that she isn't able to carry on, she must have been really disappointed to have to do this, I feel even more privilaged to be in this order of bits now. It probably means that the x0x will not be as wide spread as originally intended. Hopefully the pots will turn up soon enough, it's going to be a while till we get all the bits we have built up. I'm still trying to find someone locally who has an oscilloscope, think I may have to bite the bullett and buy one from ebay, it'll look cool on my desk if anything! The wait that we are having is nothing compared to what people over on Adafruit must have. I like the sounds of a remake, using different parts and a new board layout. The original x0x seems very big for the amount of knobs/buttons on the panel so it'd be good to condense this. I'm already making two: One using original PCB's parts as on the Ada site, and one using Sasha's boards with all the mods, the main reason for this is that I know I will be asked to lend one out to various people... I may have to build a third if the alternative version comes in to fruition. Everyone needs a 303, but what would one do with 3? I bet you'd look very fetching in a pair of ruby slippers!
  19. Maybe not such a bad thing that it's blocked from work then!
  20. LOL, so that equates to them being a bit more careful with your luggage, putting it somewhere a bit safer than the hold and you get groped in the process, doesn't sound to bad to me ;D
  21. Can someone please tell me what's on that link, MY work firewall say no!
  22. I spose so. So basically if you're taking a bomb on a plane, make sure it's all shiny and nice with a decent front panal and some nice knobs!
  23. Can you not have a nice Political Correct reaming, designed to be none offensive whilst still retaining it's reaming qualities? ;D
  24. I'm impressed he got through airport security without any problems. I can't remember where I read (Hackaday I think) but airport security can have issues with you travelling with "custom" electronics devices as well as IC's, etc. G
