2-pin female crimp connectors for 2.54mm pins
Echopraxia replied to miggyb's topic in Parts Questions
Thanks for the heads up. On the site's data sheet it shows two types 1 and 2 for the cst-100 housing. What are the differences between these? It not clear to me. http://www.alliedelec.com/catalog/pf.asp?FN=143.pdf Will both work with smashtv's sil and dil pin headers? I see that they are both .100 size so they should work right? -
I am using a 40 watt iron and of course it was after the fact that I read about only using 30 watts or lower. Am I damaging anything on the pcbs? On some of my resistors the solder has gone through the hole and out the top side of the pcb and made a "bubble" of solder on the top side of pcb. Is this normal when using thin .15 solder? These are my only concerns otherwise the 40 watt iron has been working out pretty good. Its just resistors that its happening on. only just a couple anyways. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah the buttons/switches gotta be real nice. Can you name some high quality brands?

2-pin female crimp connectors for 2.54mm pins
Echopraxia replied to miggyb's topic in Parts Questions
I got my order from futurelec and it looks all good. The sil headers and crimps pins don't seem to be very good or I am just f***ing them up because I don;t know what I am doing. Is there a tutorial on connecting a wire to a crimp and then connecting it to a connector which goes on the header. After I do it in that order, my crimped pin in the black connector doesn't hold to the header on the pcb. Any help would be appreciated. -
Has any one used these on the MBSEQ? http://cgi.ebay.com/3-Stainless-SPDT-ON-ON-Green-Lighted-switch-12V-G11ZE_W0QQitemZ300155615795QQihZ020QQcategoryZ58166QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem 5046_1.JPG

Hello I know it an old topic but I am new to this. I just put together my first module and started with the IIC module for my MBSEQ 3.2 All is good but I had a question about the capasitors direction. I am using the smash tv board first edition. In the diagram on smashtv there is one 15 pf cap facing one way and right next to it is another 15 pf cap facing the other way. Right below that there is a 100 nf cap that I am not sure which way it should go. The one that is directly to the right of the crystal. How can I determine which way a cap goes everytime? Also about the leds on the IIC board can they go in either way. I remember reading a post about which part of the led is positive and which is negative but I can't seem to find it now. I attached a gif of which ones I am talking about.

Hey Ultra on your panel don't you want the extra 1-4 pattern buttons aswell? And is future electronics futurelec?
-
Well I was gonna ask you about several but why waste all that time when I can buy one of each like you said. My main concerns are getting ones that don't make a clicky sound every time you push them and also have the same mounting specs/sizing as smashtv's encoders. I basically want to mount them on the same board as the encoders and leds. I am trying to use a very slim case about the size of Hallucinogen's SEQ but with alittle more room in the back http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=2608.0

2-pin female crimp connectors for 2.54mm pins
Echopraxia replied to miggyb's topic in Parts Questions
I was wondering about using 10 pin idc connectors on everything but it does not make sense in some cases where one 10 pin header on the core needs 5 pins to go to din and 5 pins to go to dout. I was also wondering about smash's newer board layout for din and dout that use 10 pin idc connectors. On the MBSEQ 3.2 schematic on ucapps it shows only the 5 pin rows and not the updated 10 pin rows. My concern with IDC connectors is that every "other" wire gets connected to the next button or led ect.. I.e pin 1, pin 3, pin 5, pin 7, pin 9, pin 2, pin 4, pin 6, pin 8, pin 10 would be the wiring for connecting everything one by one (I think) :P. I guess practice makes perfect. I am waiting on a futurelec order for some 10 pin idc conncetors, a few 2 pin headers and crimp conncetors and its been almost two weeks so I will let you know how that goes. Hey smash how are the orders coming along? You must be real busy. -
Thanks for the insight. I was looking at rapid's switches they all seem nice. Could you give any recommendations as to which ones from rapid to use/buy for MBSEQ V3.2? I have been wondering about feel and response issues with buttons.

Cansomeone please give me some insight if these buttons are any good for midibox. I am wondering what type of feel they have, are they "Clicky", will they work? ect.... http://cgi.ebay.com/50-Push-Button-Led-DPDT-OFF-ON-Momentary-Switch-GLKD3_W0QQitemZ300152643109QQihZ020QQcategoryZ58166QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/item/PB-146/700325/SPDT_PUSHBUTTON_W__LED_.html

Don't mean to repost seppoman. I unfortunately don't have alot of free time to study midibox and I though that posting this question here might be good for future midiboxers. I'll shut up and try it when I get the parts :)

Is´s posible to connect two or more bankstix pcb to the core? yes, but the maximum number of IIC EEPROM devices is 8. They could be located at different PCBs, but each device needs a unique address on the IIC bus. TK. Does a setup of 8 banksticks affect adding the IIC module to J4 of the core? Will I be only able to install say 6 banksticks and 2 IIC modules?
-
Thanks for the pinout nebula. In the Optrex 40x2 LCD's diagram I see all the way to the left pins 1-14 but 15 and 16 are on the right side of the display. I am looking at TK's diagram and these need to be hooked up aswell. If that is the case then I would assume to just use seperated/singal wires for each pin 15 and 16 and not try to marry them with the IDC. I am tired..... One more thing nebula. When you took the video of testing the LCDs, It looked like you were disconnecting and reconnecting with a IDC connector correct? How were you using/connecting pins 15 and 16? Again very tired... Hooking up the core and LCD and testing it out before the other modules (i.e. dins, dout,IIC) seems like the best idea before going any futher.

Newb question. I want to have 8 banksticks and two iic modules for extra midi out for my MBSEQ v3.2. I read somewhere that a total of 8 "things" can be connected on the IIC bus. Can I hook up all these components to j4 of the core without malfunction. Should I invest in mike's bankstick pcb aswell for a simplified setup? Sorry if this post is'nt in the right place.

Thankyou for all your suggestions. Stryd_one, from your diagram it looks like you take one long ribbon cable and slide an idc connector down to the middle of the cable and when you crimp this down you have two ends (one for each LCD) with the middle IDC connector going to the core right? Then you cut the enable line for 2nd LCD right by the core connection to run it to J10 RC. I do have one more question about pinouts for IDC connectors. I read building a midibox LCD cable by Jim Henry and saw the pin 1 indicator for the IDC connector which is a triangle. My question is which is pin 2 and so on on the connector. There are 2 rows of eight headers. Is it pin 1 pin 2 Pin 3 pin 4 Pin 5 pin 6 pin 7 pin 8 ect....? Or is it pin 1 pin 9 pin 2 pin 10 pin 3 pin 11 pin 4 pin 12 ect...?

Newbie question. If I use a 16 pin IDC connector for the core board connection, would I take 2X 16 pin cables minus the extra enable line and crimp both cables to the single IDC connector? One more question. Where you can solder dil/sil headers on the lcd side of the cable is it possible to label data wires and switch there location on an IDC connector so you can have an IDC on ends of both LCD displays? Also I am going to get in on the next bulk order for LCDs that is coming up real soon.

Wilba alittle off topic but I can't help but ask about your seq your building. Are you making your own pcbs for it in a custom case like you VERY NICE sid unit?

My first message...ahhhhh I understand that there will be another post in the bulk order section for this order but count me in for 2 please if thats not the case. I am starting with the mbseq v3.2 and I look forward to chatting with fellow boxers!
