  1. I too have used the pma-5 and thought it was very cool to show off but comes up alittle short compared to how spoiled we are with nowadays stuff.

    PSU...??

Hey doors did you end up going with this power supply that you were thinking about? How did it fair? Would you buy it again for next mbfm? What is the model number?
  3. "got my leds to light up" The yellow recieve indicator lights up every time I press a key on my controller keyboard. did you connect the RI_N output of the IIC_MIDI module with J6:SI of the core module? Yes I did. I also made sure that the RI_N header was the one that was actually going to something on the board (since there are two and the other header goes to nothing) (smash's 10 pin idc style board)
  4. lets say the pin out for the display was wired wrong. Then I possibly could have destroyed the display because the bridges without the resistor have been connected (maybe) to a segment and not to the common anode/cathode pins. I checked my wiring and I still belive it is correct but maybe this is what happened? I might try another brand and see what happens. I will also try the test you speak of and desolder the display and try to get at least one segment to work. Before I soldered the board I chipped/scraped off the copper track in between which two pins share. This needs to be done on veroboard correct?
  5. Alright. I got my leds to light up on the IIC. When I use the midi in on the IIC the yellow recieve led comes on like its supposed to but the seq doesn't respond to remote midi from the IIC's midi in (only the core) I can't get the midi out of the IIC to spit out notes either (again only the cores midi out works). I moved pins around on the IIC side of the midi in/out jacks but no luck there. Next question. On the midi jack is the pin thats all by itself on the bottom of the jack the ground connector? I wired the 3rd middle pin to ground and not this bottom connector. Could that may be it?
  6. Can I hook the bank sticks up at the end of my iic chain? or does it have to be before the iics?
  7. And to reconfirm. I do not need to make any connections to ground on any of the segments and common anodes?
  8. Alright I soldered the bridges with some data wire and still I get nothing. The first time I had it hooked up I briefly got a flash of the g line when I turned off the sequencer. Did I break the display? I soldered data wire to bridge d4, d5 and d6 for common anode. I do not want the dot segment to be connected which is d7 on SR 5. I can leave this open right? Or do I have to connect it? On the data sheet It shows pin one to the very left when looking at the front and not the back. Then the pin order goes to the right and stops at pin 7 then to the top row starts at pin 8 where the order then goes right to left to end at pin 15 which is right above pin 1 on the display. I am reading the pin order correctly? Should MBSEQ 3.2 automatically turn on the display as soon as its powered up? I.E I don't have to go to the tempo menu right?
  9. so d1 is also on d5 and d2 is also on d6?
  10. I for got to ask. Do I need to enable something in the seq to get the iic to transmit? Does midi remote work on the first iic midi in?
  11. I am in trouble. I desoldered alittle to much and now one of my solder pads on my DOUT R3 is bad and wont make a connection with the wire. I am doing this for the bpm display of the seq on its common pins which are normaly on shift reg 6 and at pins d0, d1 and d2. My d0 solder pad is bad and need to change the connection to another "D" on the same shift register. Do I do this in the seq led txt file?. #if DEFAULT_BPM_DIGITS_COMMON movlw DEFAULT_BPM_DIGITS_COMMON - 1 call MIOS_DOUT_SRSet #endif ;; set digit lfsr FSR1, BPM_DIGIT_0 movf SEQ_BLM_ROW_CTR, W, BANKED movff PLUSW1, MIOS_PARAMETER1 #if DEFAULT_BPM_DIGITS_ENABLED == 2 comf MIOS_PARAMETER1, F ; invert for common anode #endif #if DEFAULT_BPM_DIGITS_SEGMENTS movlw DEFAULT_BPM_DIGITS_SEGMENTS - 1 call MIOS_DOUT_SRSet #endif
  12. I noticed last time you made buttons you used white paint for buttons. Did black come out better? Which one is easier to read in the dark and in light? Again what mcd brightness is best whith these buttons for operation in the dark were you go ooooo :o :o :o?

  14. I think I would have to join in a bulk order if it is worth the trouble.
  15. Well I soldered the led the other way and it didn't work then I redid my wiring and now the green light lights up. IIC still doesn't want to transmit like my core's in/out. My midi jack wiring is not right I think. The pcb mount one works fine on my core so I think I have some connection wrong from the IIC midi out to the midi jack. I have it where going from left to right with the arc going across the top of the connector as pin 2 for positive, pin 3 for ground and pin 4 for negative uh.... On the midi in I only soldered pins 2 and 4 of the midi jack to the IIC left and right pins and not the middle pin (ground). I have switched around the connections on the IIC but not the midi jack. My question is do I need to?
  16. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THIS THREAD AS I MADE A MISTAKE WITH MY DOUT BOARD. EVERYTHIGN HERE SHOULDN"T MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello everybody. I am trying to get the new 3 digit bpm leds to function on my soon to be finished SEQ 3.2. I follweed the diagram for this in the hardware options page. My question is do I need to connect vs to the common anode pins? I enabled bpm_digit display to #2 for common anode which is what mine is and reloaded the asm/hex to the core already. Also do I need to connect segments a-g to vs aswell? I have smash's newest DOUT R3 board and have a-g wired to SR 5 and commons to SR 6. I removed my resistors from SR 6 for the common pins and left the resistors for ever other SR intact. I triple checked my wiring pin table for the display and believe my wiring is correct. Any help is appreciated. Here is my data sheet for the display attached. C4624JR.pdf C4624JR.pdf
  17. Hello. I am having problems with my IIC module hooked up to the core for SEQ 3.2. I think it is not even getting power. Shouldn't the green led of the IIC turn on when you power the SEQ? When I turn on the SEQ I only get a brief flash from the red (tx) led. Software is loaded to the core and cores midi in and out work. I also have the RI line connected to J6 SI which is going to the RI pin on the first and only IIC. and yes it is only connected to the first IIC and it is the right pin out of the two possible on smash's board. I am only trying one IIC module to test with both jumpers on and tried without jumpers on just to see. On smash's core pcb the two pins to the far left on J4 (by the rectifier) are these used? I did not wire these two pins to anything as I thought they were there for ease to use 10 pin IDC connectors. So I have pins 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 running to the IIC module properly I think. I had to align the cables in the IDC connector going to the IIC module and also include the J6 SI connection to pin 5 of the IDC so it goes to the RI pin of the IIC. Is there some basic thing that I am not thinking of? I followed the wiring diagram (below) for the midi jacks and tried moving the pins around on the IIC pcb for midi in and out because I was never really sure which pin went to what on the IIC PCB. I.E on the midi in jack itself does the 2nd to the left pin go to the left IIC header and nothing gets connected to the middle pin and the 4th pin (2nd to the right) goes to the header on the right? Or does pin 2 on the jack go to the header on the right and pin 4 goes to the left header. I am looking at smash's board right side up like his diagrams are. On his board I can't tell which is positive and which is negative if thats the proper terminology. Ground is middle right?
  18. Alright TK my face is alittle red here :-X I checked my solder connections on the core and sure enough I forgot to solder 2!! connections!! What the F**k was I doing! I don't even know how I got mios and the MBSEQ software loaded! Now that I soldered my midi in jacks it is working like a charm. As far as midi remote goes can you change note values like the encoders using remote midi? I am already starting to love this sequencer. Upon testing midi remote I have learned that my IIC modules don't work :( I will post my problems elsewhere. Thanks TK!
  19. Thanks for the info TK. I just tried this serveral times with no luck. I think my midibox is a lemon ;) I have tried holding remote key down and pressing the edit key, play key, ect... I have tried holding the remote key and holding the menu key together while pressing a gp button ect.. I have tired differnt octaves on the keyboard and differnent combinations. I did'nt get anything to happen. I think my next thing is to try to hook the core up to my pc sequencer and use its built in keyboard. I am sure that wont be the best use for this but it is worth a shot. If I have the core's midi in hooked up to my pc can I play a song in my pc sequencer and then the core will play the default midibox SEQ track? I am just asking this so I will know if sync works and my midi is ok.
  20. Well I gave the keyboard another go and it "worked" I think. I found that my 61 keys go from c2 - c7 so I shouldnt have to transpose anything. When I say it worked I had some bankstick for song dialog come up and then another key gave me some g1---G2---G3---G4 with !! under each one but I really couldnt do anything else and when I tried it again nothing happened. TK, on your diagram for remote functions, menu and remote key are in red. do both of these have to be pressed in some order or do I hold remote down ect...? I dont know why I am having problems with this. I am pretty sure that the software was uploaded successfully so the midi jacks work. I have a "fatar studio 610 plus" controller if this helps.
  21. Well I tested it even more. Still no luck. I also wired up the iic module like in the diagram on the wiki. With only 2 pins panel mount to the midi in and all three pins to midi out. My controller works fine when directly attached to the synth that is on channel 1. Does SEQ start on ch 1 aswell? or is it in omni? Do the midi jacks have to be grounded? Is that what the 3 pin is on the midi out? Does the midi in have to be grounded or is it already with the 2 pins? This probably isnt the problem anyways as I was able to load mios and the SEQ hex file using the same midi in and out I tried the first time. So what could it be. The note works where the remote activate should be and I tried smashing all the keys over and over again. I ordered my buttons so as soon as I get those I will try to send more midi to my synths. So far the encoders I have hooked up work just fine. They tell me "no pattern for selected track" or something like that but can't do anything with them besides that.
  22. I wanna say I did check but I may have to check again. So I guess that means that this should work out the box without some menu function or asm altering as long as I press that one c key then try the other keys to see if it works.
  23. Anybody. How do you activate midi remote functions on the SEQ V3.2? I hooked up the controller keyboard to the midi in of the core and tried the last key on the keyboard to activate the remote functions like the .asm page says c-7. I have a 61 note keyboard that works fine but I don't get any response from the sequencer when I press any keys on the keyboard. I am still building my SEQ and wanted to try out functions before I got all my buttons hooked up. Do I need to have an IIC module connected for this to work? I have one but have not solder the midi jacks to it yet so I just used the core midi in to test but no luck.
  24. Hey stryd can I still completly stuff the IIC module even if I am only using it for midi out? I just don't wanna forget anything. I looked at the schematic but I think I might mess it up trying to build off of it. This is for my MB SEQ 3.2 that is going to have at least two midi outs.
