  1. Hi. The price per piece is not confirmed yet. We are waiting to hear from Albs. Keep in mind that the price per knob is just for the knobs. Shipping an customs fees will be added to this, and also VAT for non-eu countries like norway. Also i dont know if there will be added cost for the redistribution... what is the practice for this in this community? We should try to keep it as low cost as possible... Did i understand you correct that you want in on a bulk order? There is now sufficient interest for a bulk order, and we will start organize the order as soon as the price is confirmed. I also understand that there is not too many of these knobs in stock at Albs, do anyone know if they restock and how long that would take? Ingebret
  2. Anyone interested in Waldorf knobs? One way or another there is going to be a smaller bulk order, so just PM me if your interested and we'll fix some knobs.

  3. Ok, so I just got the word that Hawkeye, magic-d and some other guys will make a mini order and won't be joining this planned bulk order as I thought, that is of course ok! I just hope people is still interested in this so that me and toadstool don't have to buy a life-time supply of waldorfs by ourselves :) Will do if nescessary :P hehe Just give me or toadstool (if u are still up for it toadstool) a PM if you want in and we'll see how many we get :)
  4. Hey, I have almost finished two GM5x5x5 boards, and I lack a few components. If someone has some of them lying around that they can part with, please say so :) what I need is: 10 6N138 Optocouplers 4 jumpers 2 1uF ceramic caps My local component supplier couldn't get me these (they have the optocouplers, but not in stock for a while), and I could always order from reichelt or elfa or something like that, but it's a shame to pay customs and shipping fees larger than the actual order is worth, so if anyone can part with any of this, please let me know :) Ingebret
  5. I know exactly what you mean. Those waldorf knobs are mean! :pirate: Hey hawkeye, thats ok. As I said, I am getting these knobs even if I have to buy the whole bulk myself :) But why do a small order with just a few people when there is more people interested - just curious - not disrespectful - don't get it wrong :)... But since there seems to be enough interested people anyway, so when you hear from Albs toadstool, just calculate the price for the knobs and start the thread in the bulk order forum and people can sign on. I also want these knobs ASAP, I can pay whenever the order is ready for distribution. As I said I will take about 50-60 knobs myself if the price doesn't suddenly rise through the roof. I would also be interested in some of the black / trans style buttons - but that would be a much lower number - something like 10 or so... As I also said, I can assist in the bulk order process with whatever I can do here from Norway. We should get this going as soon as you hear from ALBS if it's still interesting by that time. As I understand from you (toadstool) funds won't be a problem - but if needed I can also contribute with funds prior to the redistribution. But that is dependent on that there is enough people in on this. :) If you toadstool, or anybody else who has contacted albs hear from them, let us know what the outcome is. - Ingebret
  7. OK! There is interest here. I would love to organize a bulk order, but there is a but... I have one big disadvantage in the case of organizing this myself - I do not live in EU - I am in Norway. Me ordering in from germany would mean extra costs: - 25% VAT - Additional (for now unkown) customs fees. - I don't know if you would also have to pay VAT and customs fees on import back into EU... This would inevetibly add to the costs, and wouldn't be a very smart way to do it for the whole community... The best way would be to run the bulk order from Germany - That way we would probably avoid both VAT and other fees when exporting them to everyone, because the value wouldn't exceed the limit for free import for each package. In case of a bulk order, I can assist in organizing in every way I can from here, but it wouldn't be smart to send it out of Norway with the price in mind. Phunk, are you a candidate for running a bulk order? You're from Germany... I'm not gonna push anyone into taking on the work of organizing this, but if i.e. you Phunk could do it or another german it would be the best solution I would think... Or maybe it is just as cheap for anyone inside the EU to do it? I can organize everything I can organize from my computer. I AM going to get those knobs, even if I have to buy the whole bulk myself - but that wouldn't be optimal :). If the price is 0.60 each in a bulk of 100 as mentioned earlier here by someone, I will take 50-60 knobs myself. So the way this looks now: Me: 50-60 - black / red Hawkeye: 15 black / transparant Toadstool: 30-35 black / red Magic-D: 15 black / transparant I am also flexible with my colors prefs, but most of all I would like black / red ones. But I can also use black / white and black / transparant too... I'll just adjust to what is more convenient for the bulk order. Now these wishes are in different color options, I don't know how flexible this is when ordering the bulk - if one can vary the color options within one bulk it would be easy and fast to organize this. With the interested guys just in this topic we're up to 110-125 in total already. Anyone want to join me an take this to the next step? regards, Ingebret
  8. I'm not quite sure I understand the problem... is the holes too small, or are the buttons not alligned properly? The obvious would be to drill larger holes if they are too small, or see if there is some way you could reallign the buttons...? This is rather impossible to give a good answer to without holding it in my hands myself or seing a picture of it... Maybe they cut the frontpanel wrong? U never know... But if the frontpanel doesn't fit, it doesn't fit, and you need to work on it - drill bigger holes, make sure everything allign up perfectly as it should be etc...
  9. Hi guys. I am very interested in buying some of them waldorf knobs that wilba use on the mb6582. I couldn't find any running bulk order for these right now, so if anyone has any spare knobs, feel free to pm me. Optionally I could cooporate with someone to organize a new bulk order if there enough people are interested.. I have never organized a bulk order, so if there is going to be a bulk order, I would appreciate help from someone who has completed a bulk order on these knobs from before. I can't even find the knobs on www.albs.de - I only see the picture of them in the slideshow on the front page. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  10. know how u feel. I have no chips for sale, I'm still hunting myself - but I have one tip. Instead of buying computer systems and rip it apart (it's makes my stomac hurt when I rip apart nice looking and working C64 for the chip), buy computers sold as spare parts or repair objects - they may very well have a good SID chip in their bellies :) I bought one already off the internet sold as is - only the computer - no cables, no nothing, but the guy was pretty sure it worked fine, but sold as spare parts since there was no cables. I got it for approx. the same price as a single chip ready shipped to me would cost - that is cool with me. And now I also have a spare keyboard for my working frequently used C64. If I had heart to rip out the chip from my own system I would be done hunting, but I just can't. Completely restored working as new, giving me hours of nostalgic pleasure from Rick Dangerous, giana sisters, last ninja, sex games, etc :). Can't do that... :) Sorry, a little off topic posting here, but there is a hint inside there somewhere :) good luck.
  11. The postal service should inform you about and give you the right form to use when you send it. Be sure to ask them and make sure it is correctly filled out and all that, if not the package will get stopped at customs in norway, and it takes time to get it out of there :). I know there are some info on royalmail.com, but I have no info source for germany. But it won't be a problem as they will know at the post office what you need.
  12. Hi, You need to read up on the www.ucapps.de midibox documentation and read the wiki - and with the help of many good forum topics you will learn what this is. Making a controller inside your midiboard for abelton live is probably a much bigger task that you think - so u need to read up on this stuff, and then you will start to understand how you can do this. A lot of planning and much more imagination is what it takes :). good luck.
  13. I have already bought 2 6581s from toadstool here in midibox forum. I have also bought one c64c from a norwegian auction. I don't know how it is with shipping from german sellers to norway, but the ones I have tried in UK won't ship directly to me... I guess they are unshure of how it works. The main thing to remember when shipping to norway wich is not in EU, is that you write a correct custom declaration form with documentation on whats in the package and the value. Normally I would ask to write the value to under NoK 200 so that I don't have to worrie about paying VAT 25% when importing, but as a couple of SIDs has higher value indeed, I need the package to be insured for a reasonable amount since they are so hard to come by. As for the types of SID, I'm aiming at 8580s - these are the ones I want in the first place, but I feel I gotta take what I get since they are pretty hard to get. In fact I only lack one 8580, and I will have four sids in total - and I'll settle with that :) Thank you for your help. I'll PM you when I find what I want :) best regards, Ingebret
  14. Oh, sorry, it seems I forgot that important detail. I live in Norway.
  15. Hi! In my hunt for SIDs I am trying to get a contact from in germany. In short - most of the auctions regarding C64s on ebay.de ship only to germany - and also ebay.co.uk, they ship only to UK. I got myself some help from scotland. He was so kind to offer his address for me to use. The marked for the C64C is a bit dry in the UK, so I decided to try my luck on the Deutchland version. Is there someone out there willing to help me? I buy items (SID related stuff - either the whole package or just the chip if I get hold of it) off ebay.de and send it to you. Then you pull out the SID, pack it up nicely and secure and send it off to me. Whatever hardware is left you get to keep / throw away - whatever you like. The way I saw this going was: 1. I buy an item and let you know it is comming. 2. I pay with my paypal, you are just my delivery address. 3. I pay you whatever fair amount we agree on for your part of the job and the shipping to me of course. 4. You pack it nicely and secure and send it off to me. If you can verify for me that the chip is in working condition it's a bonus. 5. If you ever need any help from me, be sure to ask. I love to help! If anyone feel they can help me with this, please PM me. Best regards, Ingebret
  16. I tried to PM you for the 8580, but it says that your user is unable to use the message system... I really want it - if it works ok :)
  17. Thanks, I don't mean to ask too obvious questions... I have a bad habit of asking before thinking - will try to get better at that :) I read up on sammichSID, only to find out that I didn't need to bother reading it, coz it's not what I want :) Great for those who want it simple though :) This weekend I have made some real progress on the start of my project. I have a completely restored C64c running with C64HDD software - so I don't want to cannibalize this one. So I just bought 2 6581s from Toadstool and I also bought a C64c from norwegian qxl.no (online auctions) - sold as is, only the computer - no wires, no nothing - so I hope it works, I had to pay for it too - shipping is insinly expensive, so I pay just as much for shipping as for the actual computer. But it's gonna be worth it. So that means I have gotten 3 SID chips in less than a week - not bad. Next is to order in the MB6582 kit from smashtv - think that will be happening first thing in january or maybe before. I have no time during christmas to build anyway, so I thought I spread the costs a bit. The 6582 synthesizer I just realized - will become a very expensive synth when finished! Oh shit, I'm gonna need to get it insured - maybe get the whole studio equipment special insured :)... The kit is inexpensive, the sids are really expensive, and the amount of time for me to build it is "expensive". As I recall the SIDstation is pretty expensive - now I kind of understand why :) - I always wanted a SIDstation - but the midibox beats it so easily :). I'll post some more about it when I get started for real. If you people want I can make a worklog... Is there a special place for worklogs in the forum, or is it just to post a worklog in the SID section? regards, ingebret
  18. Oh yeah, I see it's only the baseboard that is in the kit - that simplyfies things - As much as I like control surface board design, I still want to make my own design. So I saw it as a waste to buy the kit if I got that board too that I didn't need. But now thats settled - im getting the MB6582 kit. - Can someone give me the measurements of the board, so that I can start looking for a case, or make one myself...? - Do I need any parts in addition to the kit? - Is there any PSU components on the MB6582? If not I gather I need to build a complete PSU in addition to this kit. -> It that's the case, what's the specs on the PSU? I don't remember if I asked already, but is there a PSU schematics for a PSU that delivers all voltages needed for MB6582? - One thing a little off topic - since I last was here there is a lot of new stuff. With the possibility for asking a very stupid question - I do it anyway: what is sammich? I see a lot of talk about sammich, but can't seem to get exactly what it is... :)
  19. Hey, Many years ago I had to forget the mbsid build I wanted because of different stuff in my life getting in the way of just about everything. I traded off SIDs and parts to other enthusiastst and comforted myself that I had solutions like the SID VSTi from reFX. When my life situation allowed for it I came back here now to build a MB LC for my studio and realized it was going to take some planning before I could start the build, and it's gonna take some time. SO I started browsing through some of the forums just to see what's going on, and I got in here with the SIDs :) And I was hooked again. Before knowing it I was planning how to get the parts without and hide the costs from my wife :) I already got one SID chip (yet untested) and I plan to get one more or 3 more. Of course if I'm lucky to get 8 in total, I will be happy with that too... :) From the last time I looked at mbSID there has come a new version and a lot of new stuff. so naturally I have a few questions and hope you don't mind :). - Does it pose any problems using a pair of 8580s and a pair of 6581s in a 4xSID setup? It is so hard to come by SIDs and I feel I gotta take what I get... - I'm not a very good synth programmer - is there ready sets of patches for me to download and save on my banksticks? - does a patch (by that I mean instrument sound) from a 2xSID synth work with a 4x SID? - Can I play SID tunes from my computer on the mbsid without changing firmware? - Is all engines available at the instrument or do I have to change firmware for switch from lead to bassline to multi and so on? - I see TK recommends the original c64 PSU for best S/N ratio, but I see people having trouble with them - some talk of blown caps etc... I have most components in my arsenal already to build a PSU from scratch - is there any schematics available for making a linear PSU for the SID supplying all voltages needed for a system with potentially both SID types in? isnt it supposed to be 5, 12 and 9 volts? - I think I'm going to do a modular build with a full control surface - mainly because I can spread the costs more, and I would also just love to make my own layout of the control surface. I thought of the ready made PCBs, they have a nice layout, and the boxes made from them are really nice, but it's more appealing to me to do my own design... just because :). Any thought on pros and cons of doing modular vs a single PCB? Thanks for any advice! Best regards, Ingebret
  20. Hi, Is it still possible to sign on for a chipset or two?
  21. PM sent from me too :) Guys lets not fight over this ok? :P
  22. I remember reading somewhere that for getting single chips without pcb, you should send TK a PM... Correct me someone if I'm wrong... Else I am getting both chips and big pcbs from Twin-X, don't know how the status of his stuff for sale is though... but one can always ask :). cheers, TB
  23. Ok, I will probably get a burner off ebay if none of you can burn them for me - it's just that I won't use the burner for more than this time, so I'd still appreciate the favour if someone will do it. I have bought some more stuff off ebay, connectors and stuff that I will have use for. I realize that this project needs a lot of planning, and since I have minimal hands on experience with controllers like what I'm about to build I will also very much appreciate tips on what features (knobs, faders, leds, displays) to implement. I'm still working on a mockup for you guys to see what I'm thinking, but it's a bit more difficult than I thought - I sat down with paper and pen and began to draw, but I soon understood that I don't even know what I want with it :) (Help :) hehe. Some questions for the planning: - Can you use both motorfaders and pots on one single core? - If I cannot combine mf and pots, can I build a 24 channel (including one master volume fader) LC and use encoders for eq, pan etc instead of pots? - Can I use ledrings on encoders in the scenario above? - In one core with 8 motorfaders how many (physical) digital inputs and digital outputs is there for me to use? - One encoder uses 2 inputs - is this always true? - How is talkback usually implemented in a console like this? thanks! EDIT: I was sitting here thinking of displays to use for the box. What kind of display should I use? Is a graphical display supported, or is it just character displays? I saw one project here cant remember what project, but in the pictures the display looked like VFD, but it was said to be a LCD with white characters and black background. Any idea on where to begin to get these? I fell in love. I would really like VFD though, but I have no idea on where to get them other than ebay, and most were too small and a bit expensive, but in the end the money doesn't really matter - not that I am rich or anything :) - it's just that I will work on this some time, and spread the expenses... So if it's 10 or 40 euros for a display won't mean that much...
  24. Also interested in GM5x5x5 boards. I can take two off your hands for a reasonable price. What is your price? Ready for a quick deal. Have you got any GM5 chips?
  25. I see... OK, I have another question before bed. I had a look in my suitcase where the midibox parts (the ones I had left that is) is resting in peace :). I found a strip of PIC16F452, they haven't been touched since I recieved them some years ago, just packed away... Now that I have time and money to revive my dreams, I need someone to burn the bootloader to the chips - that way I can load whatever I need to load onto it via MIDI right? Is someone willing to burn my chips? there are 3 to 5 of them - don't have the packages in front of me right now, so I don't remember - but anyway there should be a bootloader on every one of them - coz what else should I use them for right? :) So if anyone is willing to do this, I will send you the chips. I do of course pay the postage fees to get it to you and back again... don't know exactly how - but we figure that out. Just PM me if you can do me this favour, so that I don't have to build my own burner... :) I'm in Norway, southwest, so if any norwegians can do it that would of course be the easy way, but it shouldn't be a big deal to ship international either :). EDIT: It would be smart to get MIOS loaded to the chips at the same time right? So, I would really appreciate if someone could do this for me. Thanks!
