napierzaza Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I noticed for the SEQ, a terminator is required for the DIN and DOUT modules. Is this recommended for other projects as well? Such as the SID or the FM? Is it only on the SEQ because it requires more DIN and DOUTs than normal? Quote
doc Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 The termination is only required if you notice a "strange flickering" at your Leds. Until now this has only happened to the SEQ. If you notice a flickering in other Apps you can als terminate them.btw. You can prevent your box from flickering, if you make the DIN/DOUT interconnections as short as possible.greetsDoc Quote

ilmenator Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I had that flickering on a DOUT module, too - it did not go away when I added the terminator, though. It did when I re-did all the soldering joints (no termination on the DOUT chain). So, my first advice would be to check the soldering. I've had no problems with cable lengths up to 40cm or so without the termination. Quote

doc Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I also never had any problems with flickering.Even with long interconnections. But people who had problems reported that sometimes a shorter connection removes the problem.Bad soldering is always a problem. This should be, of course, removed first.greetsdoc Quote
Futureman Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 I terminated my first sequencer DIN/DOUT Chain, which made no difference.. (I had no flickering anyway)The second, I didn't bother with.. Quote
