TK. Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 The Ctrlr based panel for MBSID V2 is up&running, and I must say that it was really a challenge! But at the end it was less effort than programming this editor as a native Juce application because Lua scripting is sufficient (and fun!) - and we will get AU and VST support for free! The panel can be downloaded from this location: http://ctrlr.org/midibox-sid-v2/ Ctrlr can be downloaded from http://ctrlr.org/nightly/ I tested this with Ctrlr_262f2710.dmg (version from 14. April 2014) under MacOS For newer Intel and Apple Silicon Macs use: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/ctrlr/Ctrlr__tk_changes_for_midibox__20231026.zip For Windows take Ctrlr_ac6a3185.exe edit hawkeye (in 2018): here is a current link to Ctrlr_ac6a3185.exe (needed for TK.'s panel) - thanks to goyousalukis for searching! http://web.archive.org/web/20140518080526/http://ctrlr.org:80/nightly/ Some snapshots: Lead Engine OSCs:http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_ctrlr_panel1.png Bassline Engine OSCs:http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_ctrlr_panel2.png Bassline Sequencer:http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_ctrlr_panel3.png Drum Engine instruments:http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_ctrlr_panel4.png Drum Sequencer:http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_ctrlr_panel5.png Multi Engine:http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_sid/mbsid_ctrlr_panel6.png Release mail (with some technical background) to the Ctrlr community: http://ctrlr.org/forums/topic/midibox-sid-v2-panel/ Have fun! Hawkeye Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Looking really great! :-) Can´t wait to test out the the bassline sequencer engine mode, it looks very intuitive :), also it is nice to see much of the lead engine parameters on one screen, this should really help the patch creation process :) Greets, Peter Edited April 3, 2012 by Hawkeye Quote
Altitude Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Great that you're doing this.. Ctrlr has come a LONG way. I'm running the latest windows build and all seems OK so far.. Edited April 3, 2012 by Altitude Quote

Took me a while to get it up and running, and it does have some occasional flaws, but is WILDLY improved over using the MBSID application. I haven't tried the automation yet, but just being able to run both CTRLR in Live is a huge help. I can now edit patches on the fly without having to exit my DAW :) That and the interface is improved in many places. Quote
'tini Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) awesomeo! will try it out first chance i get. beer bought. Edited April 4, 2012 by 'tini Quote
TK. Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Thank you! :) I uploaded a new version to the DDB with some minor improvements for the bassline editor: the keys are reversed (like on a piano roll), and the octave is selectable in a combo box to improve the overview. technobreath Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Yo TK! This looks really really good! Quote
julienvoirin Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 that's clearly an awesome job ; unfortunatly I can't use it as I've a Powermac G5 and ctrlr app seems made for Intel with 10.6. If someone has a trick, it is welcome  Quote
TK. Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 No idea how to solve this for your Power PC. Topic change: I failed to upload the new panel (a click on the panel downloaded v1.0 instead of v1.2), it's fixed now in the DDB Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
gslug Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 This looks fantastic, but the Linux version of Ctrlr can't see my MIDI interface! Anyone else using Linux? As an alternative, I dug out my prehistoric iBook G4, only to run into the same problem as julienvoirin...... Quote
TK. Posted April 5, 2012 Author Report Posted April 5, 2012 Linux issue: could be related to this issue that I reported some time ago: http://www.rawmaterialsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6669 If you are a Linux user, you probably also know how to patch Juce and recompile the application by yourself... ;-) Best Regards, Thorsten. flimboscompletedhisquest Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 (edited) Thanks TK, your awesome, shame i droped my sammich and the encoder is sort of jumpy between forward and back when turning fast, and backlight has failed.... other then that thumbs up...shoudl be easy making patches etc...however one thing from the java editor....can you store patches? also i may have overlooked this, but how can you see your patch list per bank? (refering to new editor) Edited April 5, 2012 by flimboscompletedhisquest Quote
gslug Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Thanks for the Link TK, I'll have a go tomorrow. Quote
TK. Posted April 5, 2012 Author Report Posted April 5, 2012 other then that thumbs up...shoudl be easy making patches etc...however one thing from the java editor....can you store patches? According to this posting the program manager is still under development. As long as this solution isn't working, you can store patches with the common save function directly from the sammichSID control surface (-> SAV page). From my point of view this is very intuitive and the preferred usage anyhow. also i may have overlooked this, but how can you see your patch list per bank? (refering to new editor) You will see it once the Ctrlr based program manager is fully functional. Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote

skweeegor Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 (edited) Anyone have this working in Windows? I'm trying it with revision 934. I think I've set up the MIDI correctly since the "Init" button does initialize the patch, but none of the other controls do anything. Have tried in standalone and using the vst with the same results. Edit: Okay, played around a bit more and a few of the controls do work, but poorly. For instance, some of the Env controls work in the multi engine; the cutoff controls have some effect in the bassline engine but they respond quite strangely with a lot of jumping back and forth between values; in the lead engine only a few of the osc 3 controls work, etc. Edited April 8, 2012 by skweeegor Quote
TK. Posted April 8, 2012 Author Report Posted April 8, 2012 It would be interesting for me as well, if anybody is working under Windows here? See also my question in the first posting: probably only the "lost" r945 will work correctly, if somebody has this binary on his harddisk, please send me the file. Best Regards, Thorsten. P.S.: Roman wrote in the Ctrlr forum, that the next nightly build will be available this week. Quote
Param1 Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Thank you Thorsten for your work! This looks very promising! It does not work for me yet but once it does I will be happy because this basically seems to be better to work with than with the Java Editor with two sammichSIDs. I can open two panels with different Midi assignments and safe them. That's nice! Plus I could probably get rid of Midi Yoke. As noted in the original post, Ctrl 964 fails completely but I can't use 934 either because I get this: I can't select Sid1, Instrument 1 or Lead Mode. When I click on those nothing happens. The editor also takes a long time to load. The receive button seems to work. I am on Win7 64 Bit, testet both 32 and 64 bit versions. I actually did not do any further testing yet, I don't know if all those buttons actually do anything ( should have tested that I know...). It's a shame that the Ctrl autho deletes all older versions !! Quote
igi Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 (edited) HI! Same problem like Param1. I use winXP 32bit. Ctrlr 934. I can access SID1, Lead engine... with arrow keys, but not with mouse.(is the same on MBFM editor). But MBFM editor workin good, MBSID editor almost not working for me. Best regards, IGI I have 833 stable version on HD, but not working. Edited April 9, 2012 by igi Quote
Melted Hugo Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Nice, it looks really great! Perhaps I'm stupid or something but I can't get Ctrlr to send or receive any MIDI signals... (Running Ctrlr r946 and your newest version on OSX 10.6.8) It just does nothing, my USB MIDI Controller does not indicate any data traffic. I assume I need to check the two boxes in the MIDI device settings of Ctrlr for the correct input and output device... Any idea? Quote
TK. Posted April 9, 2012 Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 Yes, the order of the MIDI configuration is (unfortunately) important: - start Ctrlr, ensure that the MBSID panel isn't loaded yet - click on the green "MIDI Device Settings" icon and select the IN/OUT port of your MIDI Interface - load the MBSID panel - in the lower toolbar, select the IN/OUT port to which your MBSID is connected. This procedure is only required once, the setup will be stored. Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
