TK. Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 Thanx to Twin-X we have the possibility to test a new server -- which is very fast! :)I've installed a temporary forum so that we can test the connection from different locations:--> http://forum_test.midibox.orgI've also uploaded some .mp3's to test the bandwidth, the maximum download speed I've reached was 124 kb/s (this is the limit of my ADSL line)--> http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/midibox_fm/mbfm_demo1.mp3--> http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/midibox_fm/mbfm_demo2.mp3--> http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/midibox_fm/mbfm_demo4.mp3--> http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/midibox_fm/mbfm_demo5.mp3Please write down your impressions here. If the server is working ok, I will move the original forum to the new location this weekend.Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
sjakie Posted January 21, 2005 Report Posted January 21, 2005 The forum is very fast indeed :)Download speed of mp3 is a solid 130 KB, my cable is max somewhere around 400-500. The limit seems per connection because 2 download at same time still gives high speeds :)From the Netherlands.Ow and hi btw, I'm quitely lurking for a few weeks now, hoping to start building the great SID over the coming months :) Great project :) Quote

illogik Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 great work people; quick as everything else ;D Quote
uclaros Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 8.0 KB/s here!(It's an ISDN 64k though, so it's running TO THE LIMITS! I'm planning to switch to adsl in the next weeks. Here in greece dialup is the rule, adsl the exception!)SMF seems a useful upgrade too!Definitely faster than the cgi version of the old yabb! Quote
moebius Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 Yes - looking good so far ;)And migration was incredibly fast one.. It could be, that I haven't got used to this "new looks", but some fonts in this new board look just a bit too little for my eyes.. Comments?Bye, Moebius Quote
TK. Posted January 22, 2005 Author Report Posted January 22, 2005 I'm also not completely satisfied with the layout and still searching for all the new switches and levers ;-)Best Regards, Thorsten. Quote
moebius Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 ..Yup - it think that migration reset'd the "personal settings".. nothing really, that can't be fixed easily :DBut as TK's on charge.. It's only matter of the days, 'till it's ok!Bye, Moebius Quote
jdutcher Posted January 22, 2005 Report Posted January 22, 2005 hey, i agree with everyone...the new server is AMAZING and the board is lightning fast. however, i'm not a huge fan of the new layout. i switched it to "classic view" in my profile which made things a lot better, but i still don't like it as much as the old one. i think we'll all get used to it though.
