henrygr Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 I know, I know....This question probably jas been asked before, and is hidden iin the annals of the forum, but I couldn't the answer after a lengthy search. So in fear of having my hand slapped, here goes.If I have no intention of putting in a LED, is it still necessary to include the parts for it on the core?In advance- sorry, thanks, and no, I won't do it again.Happy X-mas all from Dublin.MP Quote
doc Posted December 23, 2006 Report Posted December 23, 2006 Hi,f I have no intention of putting in a LED, is it still necessary to include the parts for it on the core?Sorry, but there is no LED on the CORE. What do you mean?Do you mean perhaps LCD? If it is so:If you don't want to use a LCD you don't have to put the parts on the CORE.But it is always useful to put them on because if you want to debug someday your CORE with a LCD you won't be able to.greetsDOC Quote
henrygr Posted December 23, 2006 Author Report Posted December 23, 2006 Oooops. Yes. LCD. Typo. Sorry.Too much LDS when I was younger!! Quote

DavidBanner Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 lolLCDs are a massive help when bulding, programming, debugging etcthey are dirt cheap and well worth the effot IMHO Quote
Jidis Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 Henrygr,FWIW- I have a core, where the LCD sits in a socket and gets pulled out for some stuff, as well as an EQ controller MIDIBox with no LCD, using a custom Core (with a DIN chip, a DOUT and none of the LCD parts). Seems to do fine. I guess it's sort of like disconnecting a DOUT (it just hangs open).George Quote

doc Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 ... perhaps we should ask Mike or SmashTV if they are willing to sell CORE kits with an external LSD connector ... :P 8)... perhaps together with some "preprogrammed" LSD ...This saves a lot of DOUTs and LEDs.... and maybe a LCD also.greetsDoc Quote
stryd_one Posted December 24, 2006 Report Posted December 24, 2006 I'm sure I'm on some terrorist alert list already thanks to all the electronics I import...
