    velocity

Velocity isn't mapped by default. Refer to (skip the introduction posts and read from like #13). I haven't yet played with velocity on my MIDIBox SIDs, but I'm pretty sure it will work. :)
  3. The most lavish MIDIBoxes ever? Impressive!
  4. Great! You are in queue right after henning. Lets give him time to reply till tomorrow. :) I'm away to Poland for this weekend anyway.
  5. I need to finance the upcoming Korg MS-20 in some way. Sad for my sammichSID, which anyway is rendered somewhat redundant by my MB6582. It is from the latest batch, fully assembled and tested, with two 8580 SIDs and switched 12V AC/DC adapter (non-stabilized, therefore not suitable for 6581). Used for less than 10 hours. There are photos in my gallery. I'm asking SEK 3500 (~EUR 400) plus possible shipping and payment fees. It covers my costs including custom taxes and painful burns from the soldering iron. Optionally without SID's, EUR 50 reduced. I prefer shipping within EU. Most preferred within Sweden. Local pickup in Stockholm would be totally awesome. I probably won't ship it the first week, waiting for a possible local pickup. First come first served does not apply in this case. In case I break the rules, please correct me and I will adapt. Permission should be implicitly granted for the first 10 units, no? I promise, this is the only one this year.
  6. Helluva project! Wow... You know why they sent you two, don't you?
  7. Maybe I'll try cut one myself. Inspiring! I have no tabletop saw though... Maybe I can use a hand saw. Guess it will look pretty handmade, but well... So it is. :)
  8. I'd like to have such a case. How did you make it? And what is the extra breadboard you have back there?
  9. This is about the coolest MBSID I've seen! Great job! I have a couple of datasettes too. This is inspiring... :)

  11. Very cool that the MB6582 will be used for something different than just impressing the internal community. Beside, it sounds great!
  12. Yes, this is normal. You need to upload MIDIBox SID v2 to your Sammich. http://www.ucapps.de/mios_download.html Scroll down and pick the file midibox_sid_v2_042.zip, then follow the steps in the sammichSID build guide.
  13. The input connectors are grounded, yes. Not doing so creates far much more noise than what I am talking about. It might be so that I have a misleading reference picture of a noise free SID environment. :) I'll record it and put it up for listening tomorrow or so. Maybe I also need more filters capacitors.
  14. Aww, another happy ending story! :console:
  15. Hm. No. It's still noicy. Seems like the noice came back. Must keep troubleshooting...
  16. The reason for the extra "spots" is that the new type of display has switched the place for the backlight, so Wilba made this board with options for both types. However, one trace was missing for the B+, which is the reason you need to do the patch. Lets hope your displays are still alive.
  17. I'll continue my monologue from the in a new one, to keep the topic unharmed. Maybe someone can make use of my experiences. To sum it up, I wanted to use the power connector and switch on the MB6582 with the Mean Well RPT-60B Switching PSU we ordered together some months ago. I have finally got it working and it looks nice on the outside and somewhat nice on the inside. :) As I did not find an 8 pin DIN male connector in town, I cut the cable from a C64 PSU. The molex connector was not of the right type for the PSU so I had to dremel it a little. When building the MB6582 I initially skipped all power related components and temporarily used PSU option D, soldering wires from an ATX PSU and provided 9V using an LM7809. Yesterday I installed heat sinks on the SID chips and trying to find out how to reuse the PCB traces in the best possible way for custom installation of the PSU. I finally made it work, I thought.... Today was the day when I hoped to start making music! But no. When putting on my headphones, I heard the noice level had drastically increased. I did so many changes yesterday so I took a break thinking of where to start trouble shooting. First up was to just switch the PSU for the ATX one, and voila! The noice was gone. Ironic, no? This little Mean Well adds noice which the ATX doesn't. I remembered there was a couple of big capacitors in the parts kit for PSU option A and B, but that you can optionally install it anyway. Worth a try I thought and installed the caps labeled C3 and C4. The noice was all gone (well...)! Problem solved. Conclusion: These caps are mandatory when using with a noicy PSU. There might eventually come a photo or two.
  18. Oops! Ok, disconnect the display and measure the voltage of each pin. Compare to the datasheet for the display. Second, you will need to patch the board and set the jumper to low voltage display (if you use the display provided with the Christmas 2012 sammichSID batch). The fact that you did not patch is not the reason for smoke though. You won't get backlight to work without patching, but smoke is related to something else. If you can take detailed photos of the front and back of your base board and specially the connection to the display, then maybe we can see what is wrong.
  19. I finally ordered a case. Hard to find a perfect fit. This one is somewhat unnecessarily big, but I guess I can live with that. Beside, the PSU gets a little warm when loaded with eight SIDs and four PICs, so maybe some air around won't hurt. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300376690143 Hope it to arrive the first quarter of this year. I'll report the status when finally assembled if others are looking for the same or similar case. Edit: Continuing this monologue in a
  20. Did you patch the base board for the missing B+ trace? Like to the left of my photo here:
  21. Never get too hasty! I waited to install the PSU until today, and now I can confirm it is working flawlessly. Very neat and completely silent. I planned to use the case and cables from an old C64 PSU, but unfortunately the inners were heavily glued to the case. At least I borrowed the cables from that PSU. I wanted to use the power button and C64 power connector in the MB6582, so I had to patch the mainboard a little. It now works perfectly. I installed the 7809 on the mainboard, so that it will not use power while the machine is turned off. All I need now is a neat case for the PSU. I've seen a few options at the bay, but have not yet picked one.
  22. It takes more energy to heat the SID plus the heatsink than the SID only.
  23. Freddy, that would be great! I'm in no hurry, but having a window would be nice.
  24. Oh. There have been some sammichSID batches then. :D
  25. Is there any MB6582 window left by some cancelled order, or maybe someone bought a spare I could buy?
