anyone interested in some of these items before i trash them!? one of these has the wires cut off: i don't think this one is working: one is without connector:

according to me is better how it behaves now. when you press the utility button you got a lot of different function for almost all of the 16 GP buttons, and pressing 2 of them simultaneusly could not be so confortable, because for some function you would need both hands. this is one of the most useful buttons because gives access to the most used functions, and maybe you just press the button, then think... hmmm should i move the step, or the whole track? wait a minute, i just save the pattern before making variations... what about some realtime recording instead? so: seeing all the commands at once without keeping the finger on the seq could be better... (IMHO)

i'm not able to develop anything, but what about this: did you consider to use an old C64 keyboard for the keys? the C64 matrix scanner application was developed (by someone i dont' remember...) and you can use the C64 keyb as a set of pushbuttons for the midibox application with an application of this you could just interface the c64 case with core and DIN and you're up and running!

if it applies for seq4, it could be worthwile to consider also the various inversion of the chords... ex: C E G B (maj7) can also be played: EGBC, GBCE, BCEG ;)

./src\seq_buttons.inc:679:Error [179] Unknown opcode "IFSET" from the "unknow opcode" i supposed that there was something completely different in the new seq3.3c code (even because i had to install other programs to compile it, as found in the midibox.org dokuwiki now i will look at the other thread EDIT: it seems too complicated for me, i don't know anything about ASM, even if i have some very very very very very basic knowledge about general programming...

i recently upgraded to seq3.3c and i have a problem in restoring the old customization i did to the buttons. in particular, i changed the "metronome" button to have direct access to the events page. this is my "old" code: seq_buttons.inc ;; -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ;; Enable/Disable Metronome ;; -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SEQ_BUTTON_Metronome IFSET MIOS_PARAMETER2, 0, return ;; branch to events menu movlw CS_MENU_PAGE_EVENTS goto CS_M_HLP_ChangePage but now, if i compile, i get an error message. how should i modify it?? thanks!

is it possible to add now chords to the appropriate table?? i tried to edit the seq_chord.inc file by adding some new chords: SEQ_CHORD_TABLE ;; 1 2 3 4 <----> (6 chars!) CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 7, -1, "Maj.I " CHORD_ENTRY 4, 7, 12, -1, "Maj.II" CHORD_ENTRY 7, 12, 16, -1, "MajIII" CHORD_ENTRY 0, -1, -1, -1, "Root " CHORD_ENTRY 4, -1, -1, -1, "3rd " CHORD_ENTRY 7, -1, -1, -1, "5th " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, -1, -1, "R.+3rd" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 7, -1, -1, "R.+5th" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 8, -1, -1, "3rd+R." CHORD_ENTRY 0, 5, -1, -1, "5th+R." CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 7, 9, "Maj.6 " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 7, 11, "Maj.7 " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 7, 12, "Maj.8 " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 7, 14, "Maj.9 " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 7, 16, "Maj.10" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 7, 12, 17, "Maj.11" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 7, 12, 19, "Maj.12" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 7, 12, 21, "Maj.13" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 2, 7, -1, "Sus.2 " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 5, 7, -1, "Sus.4 " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 8, -1, "Maj.5+" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 6, -1, "Maj.5-" CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 6, 10, "7b 5- " CHORD_ENTRY 0, 4, 7, 10, "Dom.7 " but the last chord i get is "Maj.11", so i suppose that there is a variable, somewhere, that defines the length of this table. can the table length be changed? thanks!

the midi remote control for the sequence is now set with a note (default = C7), and you can freely change the remote note. what about the possibility to activate it with a control change message, instead that using a note event? in this case, you can use, for example, a footswich pedal and keep both hands free for controlling the remote functions. the CC used for the remote function should be configurable in the same way as the actual remote note (C7) edit: with some software MIDI routing tweaks i used midiOX to translate a pedal CC message to a note on/off event.

puoi provare a scrivere a pcb_cc at email.it a me le ha sempre fatte in modo ottimo...

thanks to both! maybe you are right with vimeo, but i feel youtube has the largest audience... you can also listen to the song on myspace (www.myspace.com/matteobosi) and perhaps in the future i will also update my site with a direct download (you can also download the video from youtube - for example http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/ ) @ stryd_one :D actually, the only instrument i am able to "play" in the very sense of the word is the guitar. on most of the others my technical level is very low, even though i can play simple melodies (with some errors :P), but when you record this is not a problem! the hardest was the chinese violin, because it's really different from ALL the others!!!!

Hi! This summer i recorded a piece ("Alchemy of the worlds", you can also listen to it on myspace) in which i played more than 14 instruments. Now i finally succeeded in making the video of this song, and you can take a look here: I am very proud of both the song and the video This is the Instruments that appeares in the video: Electric guitar (Hamer Slammer Archtop) Classical guitar Erhu (chinese violin) Dizi (chinese flute) Pan Flute Fujarka (Slovak flute) Piano (samples from Garritan Personal Orchestra) Bass guitar Acoustic guitar Valiha (Madascar typical instrument) Sitar (from india) Flute 12 strings guitar Electric guitar (Yamaha Pacifica) While the following instruments were also used for the recording: Drying clothes rack Tibetan bell Rainstick Korg 01RW Yamaha TG77 Creamware Minimax and B2003 Shakers Rayzoon Jamstix (drum parts) The mix was powered by a Creamware / Sonic Core Scope system and the recording was done in Sonar 6. please share the link to the world! ;-)

is there a way to download these and watch them at home and not at work?! :P ;D

i had the same problem. i think the issue is related to this: http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,10552.0.html and to the latest software releases. (PS: i didnt tried to solve it, yet, because i don't really need to recompile the application)

i'm sorry, but the deal is already made with Jurbo! :)

Since one of my 2 SID 8580 seems to have a "broken" filter, or at least a filter that doesnt work properly... and i have some spare SID at home... i propose to some of you to exchange 2x6581 with 1 SID 8580 the 6581s read: 1) 6581 R4AR 4486 15 2) 6581 R4 3586 S regarding the "not working" 8580: i have 2 SID modules (of course) and 2 cores (still with V1.7). when i tweak the resonance settings, one SID works well and the other does not. i tried to exchange the SID chips in the two boards, and the behaviour is exchanged... so the problems lies in the SID and not in the board/connections... the two 8580s read: 1) 8580R5 2290 25 (not working) 2) 8580R5 2085 25 (working) all the other synth settings seems to work well... if you watn, i will add also this "broken" sid to the exchange! :-) i'm in italy, please reply here or with a private message/email! thanks!

i recently upgraded to sid CS step C i have part of the old CS, built inside a c64 new model, that is collecting dust http://www.alchemystudio.it/Strumenti/SIDPhotos/SID_construction_(16).JPG if you are interested in this, you just pay the shipping cost from italy... :P find some more photos here: http://www.alchemystudio.it/Ebay/SID_CS_StepB.zip all the things you see are included (although there are NO shift registers) there are buttons, leds, a small PCB for the DIN... more details if you want it! the connections should work, and i will control for broken wires.

this was my first SID unit (built several years ago) http://www.alchemystudio.it/Foto/Old/Images/SidUnit2.jpg then i decided to add at least a minimum control surface (and a second SID!) http://www.alchemystudio.it/Strumenti/SIDPhotos/SID_construction_(16).JPG now, i have decided to upgrade it once more and add a complete control surface (ready for version 2.0, not yet installed) there are 2x8580 inside! http://www.alchemystudio.it/Strumenti/SIDPhotos/A_new_SiD.JPG i pretty happy with it. the only problem i've got so far is with the filter of the second sid. it works, but the filter at extreme settings works very bad, and is very different from the other sid. i have still to check where is the problem, if in the caps, in the chip itself or in a bad solder somwhere.... the question is: why i didnt built the stepC at the beginning?! i donì't know... maybe i was too lazy! :D anyway, i didnt trashed anything, except the case and some buttons! PS: if you are interested in the "new C64 case" (the middle one) with the buttons, 1 encoder, wiring almost ready for connections... you just pay the shipping costs! :P

connection of the control surface increases noise a lot!!
bosone replied to bosone's topic in MIDIbox SID
well, combining these three things worked! :P the 8580 did not worked with the old PSU (16V, 1A) and the 7812, i had the same problems as i described. so it is not the SID type! so it remains either the voltage regulator or the PSU... but since i could not change the 7812 with another one or use the 12V PSU with the 7812... it's difficult to state which of the two was the cause... but since the current supplied by the PSU is the same (1A) either with the new or with the old PSU, i thing the problem was indeed a current supply to the whole machine, and the 7812 was the main "current supplier" since all the other regulators were connected in series to it according to me, the 7812 is, at this point, the only suspect for the murder... ;D but now the SID is working!! i have now 2x8580 SID 1.7303 the only matters that remains is that the filters for the two 8580 sounds very very different! (i don't remember, but they are different releases). instead, the caps i used are the same for both chips. i think i have to try different kinds of caps... or find another 8580!! ;D
