  1. I completely read over the ModWheel 14 -> 0V part in the main.asm, how stupid of me :-[ I will test the other values tonight and post the results here.
  2. Hi, I can't get my SID to make sound. I'm using a PIC18F4685 with latest boatloader and MIOS, which all were loaded correctly as far as I can see. Uploading apps via MIOS studio is also going good. SID testtone app does not produce any sound. I loden SIS interconnection test and have troubles doing the test. I am using the modulationwheel in MISO studio, man what a B*atch is that. I need finetune capability to send ModWheel 0 through 14 over MIDI but the thing is so inaccurate that the first value after 0 is 5. So, couple of questions: 1. Is it necessary to remove the SID for this test? (I did all the testing with a SID plugged in) 2. How can I send finetuned ModWheel messages over MIDI without a physical modwheel? The reading I can get right now are the following: ModWheel 0: SID pin A0 5V ModWheel 5: SID pin RES# 5V ModWheel 6: SID pin D0 5V ModWheel 9: SID pin D3 5V ModWheel 11: SID pin D5 5V ModWheel 14: SID pin CS# 0V Other ModWheel values are impossible to generate with MIOS Studio, at least for me, but CS# getting no current does not look good to me. What should I check first? Thanks, Alex.

As long as you don't sell anything on a commercial basis I don't think TK will disagree, but better wait for his official statement ;) I might be interested if your stuff is in reasonable condition, and shipping from your location to Holland doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Please post some pictures as soon as you get the ok for the sell.

  5. No, that's not a DINX1, just some protoboard with the buttons and an encoder mounted (the actual IC is on another board, probably a DINX4). You were right about the rubber bands though ;)
  6. I have no way to check that, as my MIDI interface is still in the mail-order. I was just suspicious because the 18F452 takes so much longer to burn the BSL into it, but if you think that this looks right it probably IS right. :)
  7. Thanks Stryd, that was a very elaborate explanation. So, I presume that in a future revision the LCD port pins get rewired in some way? And the CAN bus gets it's own pins? Or is that not likely to happen, because most midiboxes do not use slave cores and therefore have no need for CAN?
  8. After succesful burning of quite a few 18F452 with ICProg, I tried to burn 18F4685 today with PICPgm. Burning only takes a few seconds, and reports succesful burning, is that right? (ICProg always takes a minute or so with 18F452) When I read the 18F4685 the code memory is written until address 000408, after that only FFFF values are there.
  9. I'm probably posting something really stupid, so forgive me ;D If wilba is borrowing pins from another connector to be able to use an 8-bit LCD driver, wouldn't it be easier to use those borrowed pins for the CAN bus instead, and leave the LCD connector intact?

  12. What is the absolute minimum value one could use? Is 100K enough? Also, if I want to create an insert point, I think the easiest way is to place a 2 pin SIL header on the feedback path. If no insert is used a jumper on the 2 pins makes it work the standard way. Any comments on that? Would you by any chance know the output voltage of the SID audio signal? One of the tweaks I have in mind is a couple of diodes for clipping the signal, but I was also told that if the ouput voltage is on the high side, shunting diodes to ground could be dangerous.   14. Hi Seppo, I think D is the best option. Modularity is always a great feature, and all the work you did on this project is not lost in this way (assuming it is less work to split the current design than creating a new one). If it's also possible to use MAX525 with your opamp stages that would be even more cool - I've stocked up on 525's in the past and people who've built the old AOUT can upgrade. Cheers, Alex.

  16. Als je van je spullen voor de SEQ af wil wil ik ze van je overnemen. Zonde dat je niks met je quadsid doet! Kun je die niet prime sequencen met je mpc4000? Ik weet niet of ik de FM erg interessant vind...wellicht nadat ik een SID_V2 en een SEQ afheb ;)
  17. Geen punt. Hoeveel zijn het er? Ik heb hier 10 spare 452's met BSL liggen, je kunt de jouwe naar mij opsturen, dan stuur ik hetzelfde aantal van de mijne alvast naar je op met de 2 SIDs. Of je moet ze langs willen brengen, vind ik ook prima, kun je meteen de SIDs meenemen.
  18. Great, I think the Linksys might have more potential than my D-Link. If for some reason your Linksys is damaged too much drop me a note, our company used to sell these and we might have one or 2 spare lying around, that we will not use for customers anymore - no promises about that though ;)
  19. I do not have a spare wireless router, but I do have a spare D-Link DWL-900AP+ which I am willing to donate to you TK, if you're interested. I believe that some hackers already got Linux working on it, so maybe it is useful?
  20. Soldering ICs gives a better connection than when socketing them, but if they get too hot during soldering your IC is damaged, and replacing them requires desoldering all pins which is a pain, so for us "simple" people socketing is the way to go ;)
  21. I think the proper name for the plastic jumpers is "Jumper" ;D - no seriously! You can get them from an electronics shop or salvage from old PC equipment. if you're referring to the optimized PSU schematic you indeed do not mount the 7805, but instead solder a piece of wire (cut-off leg from a used resistor will do fine) between the holes for pin 1 and 3.
  22. Ik ook ;) Als je nog van spullen af moet wil ik trouwens tegen betaling (van mijn kant) wel het eea van je overnemen als ik het kan gebruiken. Maar waarschijnlijk heb jij al je coole goodies nodig voor het SID_V2 project? Als het goed is krijg ik over een week mijn midi-interface binnen (heb mijn oude verkocht een tijdje terug) en dan kan ik mios en applicaties in gaan uploaden. Het is de bedoeling eerst een simpele Step A SID te maken, kijken of ik dat nu wel aan de praat krijg - heb in ieder geval een prima voeding nu ;D - maar ook een SEQ staat op het verlanglijstje. Jij hebt toch ook een SEQ gemaakt? Ik dacht zelfs met van die uber-coole doorzichtige knopjes met ledjes eronder? Als dat klopt hoor ik heel graag waar jij je spulletjes daarvoor hebt ingekocht, want zulke wil ik voor zowel de SEQ als de uiteindelijke SID_V2 gaan gebruiken.
  23. A jumper is a wire connecting 2 points on a pcb, usually to cross tracks without touching them. A jumper is also a little plastic thing with metal inside that fits exactly over 2 SIL pins, like on computer equipment. In my post I meant the latter one. To "stuff" is slang (I think) for mounting equipment on PCB. I meant you can make a full DINX4 board with all the sockets for the ICs, and then only insert one IC in the first socket and leave the other 3 empty.
