Hey... Some more machines to (midi)box up ;) picked up one of this old digital voice processors, the vocoder and harmonise modes are much fun for realtime voice processing!, and the midi spec looks pretty healthy indeed :) I've uploaded the owners and service manual's (thanks korg ;)) and would be grateful for some ideas for midibox implementation...I'm thinking with the midi spec as it is I could just use a mbsid/fm kinda menu/control stucture - what do you guys think...? Owners Manual Service Manual Cheers!
  3. seems the search function wudda proved usefull ere ::)
  4. nah man, doubt that tru - patenting joysticks?? neve been usin em for time, p+g make loads of types etc etc... It wudnt be used for surround sound panning - at least not for me, and besides with mios we can use it to send any midi data - cc, pitch, mod whatever...in this application i think theyd work great as a controlling device... anyway, dun seem theres much interest unless the bodz out there are keepin the implementation under theyre hats...
  5. *bump* c'mon i know say some of ya got some ideas with these!!
  6. Just scrape it off yes! use a small flathead type screwdriver and just go gently if your concerned (you'll be fine tho ;p) once you see the original copper colour u know ur there! good luck!
  7. Just increase the 220R res on douts to a value ur happy with - think i used 470R with the blue leds i got...
  8. congrats nico! lookin good :) curious to know what happened to the original bits inside tho! Best D

hehe, well - ya gotta luv those ol C64's cases! I can but try! (expect some ??? to follow tho :P) Cheers!
  10. Hey... Just come across this: http://www.mainlinegroup.co.uk/mless/main.php?act=Card&id_element=3938 I remember the idea of using these in a mios system has been talked of before but did anything come of it? Couldn't find any info on the chips they mention in the description tho....any1 got any idea?? Best D
  11. w00, great stuff T! ::)

forgot to post a pic of it in it's new home: Still need to get round to digipot implementation tho :P
  13. ah, so u kept all the internal ckts of the keyboard right? ie, didnt make/use a diy'ed midi velocity scanning module? I have 2 spare 5 octave keyboard key sections and im wanting to mios them but with velocity sensitivity!! One i used with the regular mios matrix (which works well!) but it still needs velocity really ::) peace
  14. Hey gbeth nice work :) is the keyboard part u've got there interfaced to a MIOS core? velocity sensitive?

y0 Thanks ;) I think i'll try and get a 5204 and use that then - just realised the pitch and mod could also be digipot'ed as they're not controllable via midi and use 50K lin pots connected to the main uC too... One thing tho, will I need a sep core for the digipots? as I've an aout module already using pins C4/5 which cant be shared...could i just go to the other side of the pic and use C1, 2 or 3? Cheers!

heyhey okay, got hold of AD8400 digipot chip to test on - datasheet here: http://www.analog.com/UploadedFiles/Data_Sheets/248207866AD8400_2_3_c.pdf spi control so can be hooked up to a dout and interfaced with mios right? but...im at a loss as to how to go about writing a driver ??? any ideas...? cheers!
  17. hey just come across this: http://www.withandwithoutwires.com/productslist.aspx?CategoryID=10&fr=295200419375 mebbe could be miosified? Seems cheap for the pads/stand alone ;)
  18. good news indeed!! ;D
  19. Hey Rowen easy done ;) What chips did u settle on in the end? multiples of those SSM2402/4's or the single AD8113JST? I aint too hot on the mios programming side so best save the spare chip for some1 who is (pilo - u listening? ;p) But ye def interesting as I'm currently lookin to implement a controllable patchbay in a modular mixer design...
  20. Hey Rowan Did u get this mios controlled analog switch shiz implemented on the patchbay then? Best

Hey... New audio ckt up n runnin - just a basic TL074 config, works well and no noise :) Was wondering tho - do u think the HT button matrix can be controlled by a mios matrix? TA

indeed, i was scoping the SPI interfaced ones from Maxim: http://www.maxim-ic.com/DigitalPotentiometers.cfm

Heyhey hmmz, so u sayin slap in a couple of pots where the 820R/130K and 820R/10K meet up (like VR6/9 in schem)...for more (midi controllable) manglin potential ye? 10K d'ya rek to start with? cheers! O ye, i counted 32 options for the data menu pot - do u think a 32 step digital pot would suit spot on, or would a higher 256 step offer greater range for ?snapping? to a specific menu param?

well thanks for the 'elp! ;D right, now thinking a(b)out  improving the audio section and adding an external input which could be routed thru the filter... for the external input can I just jack in before the vcf? Would some kind of buffer circuit be needed there again? For the audio outs I was thinking of makin each tone and perc signals a seperate output, with the electronically balanced output stage from the ssl comp clone (http://www.gyraf.dk/gy_pd/ssl/ssl_sch.gif)... nice D
