    a few more q's

Ye, sounds a fair bit more work when just a few bridges is all that's needed as you say - single sided all the way then... I also made a cheap bubble etch tray today based on the design found here: http://www.thinktink.com/stack/volumes/voliii/equipmnt/bubltank/bubltank.htm Note: this link may already have been posted, but still a goodun none the less... I'm just using a large footpump (pumps air both ways) to get the air in, it works a treat ;) Yup the cs1x merges just dandy, so that should be cool... LED issue - sorted ;) Thanks man - all this help is truly appreciated...;) Peace... D
  2. Cheers ppl... Once i get the boards sorted for the LED and detector pins - i'll get busy with a walkthrough ;) Right now, building my first MB is the priority... Peace... D
  3. Hi... 100+ posts and still no MB :(, oh well i'm learnin! It's getting to the time to make the pcbs - finally ;) and I've a few q's before i get manic on the ferric cholride... I've already got some dbl sided boards that fit the ain/din/dout modules and my pot/button/led boards nicely. Should i leave one side unetched to act as a heatsink/ground plane? I'm making 3 seperates boxes to start with (instead doin the one mega box as said b4). This will be 2 MB64's and 1 MBLC (waiting for the NG rollout). I've one MIDI i/o and am wondering the best way of connecting it all together. I also have a controller KB. What I'm thinking is this: PC MIDI OUT > KB > MB64-1 > MB64-2 > PC MIDI IN MBLC > PC COM IN Does that sound sensible? I'll also be adding a dual SIDbox unit soon too ;) I guess I could put this between MB64-2 > PC MIDI IN, tho it's prolly time to invest in midi interface... Oh, and on another tip - Is it ok to use LEDs with voltages rated at 2+? Cheers... Dan

    caqs values q

and again...;) Do Reichelt do caps for pushbuttons? I've tried navigating the site but aint got very far... I'm after some round and rectangular ones for 2.8 and 3.2mm posts... Peace...

    caqs values q

On a diff tip, but still a parts q... I got my microchip samples which included the IC's for the banksticks - 24LC256. I also got the AA and FC versions, they appear the same but just they're voltage range is different I think. Are these suitable? i hope so... Cheers...
  6. Hi... Reichelt has got back to me but have said that the RAD1/16 and 10/16 are 'not in program', and put down these 2 as replacements: RAD 10/16 [original] RAD 10/35 ELKO 5X11 RM2,0 [Replacement] RAD 1/16 [original] RAD 1/63 ELKO 5X11 RM 2.0 [Replacement] I assume they're fine, but thought I might aswell check beforehand... Thanks in advance Dan
  7. i should also say that everything is 'ex-mouse' - bar the pink wire...;)
  8. I was thinking of doing a walkthrough - but it'd take a while, plus u'd have to get the same type of logitech mice I used - tho I'm sure a general guide would be a good idea as most old serial mice have similar asthetics... In the meantime, here are a few pics of one of the encoders (i made 8 in total). The mouse switch has been reused and is placed in the rubber housing (used the old mouse ball ;) ). It works really well so far, but as stated there's still a lot to do ;).... The encoder wheels I made (not pictured) have 36 spikes and are made from black CD jewel cases... I was also thinking of intergrating an LED in the button too (it lights up the rubber cap real nice when lighted from beneath), but the LED rings will be enuff I think ;) All was dun with a dremel with various bits used... Cheers... Dan
  9. All is sorted ;) Reichelt has got back in touch, so no worries...! Peace... D
  10. Hi... It's come to the time for component chasing and Reichelt has the lot and at decent prices. I'd rather get it all from one place, insteada parts here n there (i've already had to get bit's from all over of the place and it aint as fun when i first started - this is my first EE related outing)... So, based on the lists Thorsten has already compiled I've put together an order list for Reichelt. If any German MB users can help me out I can PAYPAL you the funds for the order and subsequent shipping costs to London. As a thankyou I'd send ya back a core module fully stuffed with the latest PIC ready for the NG rollout, as I'm makin my boards to save costs... Cheers... Dan
  11. Great, thanks again T - cleared up things nice, tho i'll prolly have a few more q's when it comes to testing (still gotta get parts and make the modules)... However, these encoders are coming on nice ;) i've reused most of the mouse and created an endless pot with an intergrated switch (the mouse switch) housed with a half cut of the rubber cover from the ball, so it acts like a pushswitch - looks nifty, weather it works or not is another thing ;). I'll get some pics up soon... cheers...
  12. nifty stuff T! ;D This is fantastic news for the sidaholics out there and I can't wait till i get my SIDs runnin now! Good to see ya rollin with the dnb too ;) peace.... dan

    Enclosures

Try Hammond's 10 degree sloped range: http://www.hammondmfg.com/dwg16.htm They are priced very well - I got the 508x287mm model for around 20 odd UK pounds... Best... Dan
  14. I measured 4.36/7 V between these 2 pins... So - and i'm only guessing here ;) that the +5 provided from the core would be fine ??? If thats correct then great...:)
  15. Nice, that's good to know the LC7981 could work... WRT to the Reichelt order - heh, i wasn't meanin you personally T - you do too much for all the midibox freaks already ;) I've already gotton in contact with Chris in order to get the modules pre made, but i think for the amount of modules i need it might cost too much for me atm - we shall see tho.... I can get most things here easily enuff - it's just the odd thing here n there... Thanks again...
  16. http://www.vitrum.cz/snail/lc7981.pdf Is there ne1 in Germany who has a Paypal account I could send funds too to order from Reichelt for me - then send it over to london too? Just and idea... Thanks again Dan
  17. Hey T, hope u had a good xmas/nye... Does this include one's using the LC7981? Only diff between this and the KS controller I can see is the CGROM for character generation. It also seems more available... I've emailed reicfeilt (cant remember the name atm) a few times with an order but havnt gotten a respose from them or that Schaeffer Apparatebau place - I thought they both took international orders....mebbe there just slow.... Cheers...
  18. Hey all and happy 2003! I've got a load of old logitech serial mouse in the hope to make encoders from. As I understand the internal electronics of the mouse are not used and only the LED and optical detector are needed.... The LED has 3 pins (looks like 2 are connected to gnd on the board I think) and the optical detector has 4 pins - see attached pic, I hope u can see the routing of the parts on the board as to make sense of it... So what pins of the optical detector do I connect to the DIN module? Best... Dan
  19. Hey T... Like the new nav bar on the site - make's it much easier to find ur way about ;) midiboxes, websites....where does it end with ya eh !?:) All the best, and have a great NYE everybody....! Dan
  20. hey Cyril... I too am new to all things EE and this is my first proper outting with a soldering iron and a dremel multi...;) It's going good for me and the help I've received here has been one of the main factors of that without adoubt... WRT ur q's: Yes, both luminance and contrast - there are 2 trimmer pots on the core module. See: http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_core.pdf You want a make or break switch I beleive - neway it aint a biggy, check: http://www.midibox.org/midibox64_walkthrough/index.html - This is a great walkthrough.... All the best with ur project and happy nye! Dan
  21. Yup, I had to yet another re-plan of my box - but it's def gonna be worth it :)! Now, i'm gonna roll with 2 current mb64's and wait for the NG roll out for a MCLC box...;) Stunning stuff...! WRT the LCD, I'm in the UK and this place here stocks the same model... http://www.steatite.co.uk/ All the best... Dan
