  1. Hi T... Okay, so i sent that syx cmd and got this feed back: F0 00 00 7E 40 00 0D 01 00 5A 44 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 F7 which means if has selected the graphical LCD, so it all seems good so far... I originally connected the LCD last week sumtime - did u change the pdf hook diagram in this time? I'll check the connections with the one on the site now neways to make sure... Cheers... Dan
  2. Hi... Can peeps using the panasonic motor faders from allcorp gimme a few pointers with using them and tell weather or not they were able to make use of the touch sensor input capability on the core module... cheers... dan
  3. Hi... I've started putting the parts for my LC box together - including the Graphics LCD which is the Displaytech 64240A. I followed the hookup diagram in the LCD section of the site and when i apply power to the core it powers up fine and the pots work as expected (lum (pot on core) and con(additional pot wired in)). However, after burning the bootstrapper to the pic, and then mios via syx, I dont get the MIOS welcome msg on the LCD like i've done with the character LCD used on the 18F Sid i started. I put the appropriate ID Value in ICProg for the KS controller before burning the bootstrapper (0000000000001000)... After sending mios and applying power i get: F0 00 00 F0 7E 40 F0 00 01 F0 F7 00 but it doesnt repeat every 2 secs, so that makes me think that mios sysxed correctly and so should display the MIOS screen...but it aint :/ it just stays filled black as before... Have i missed summin?
  4. okay, np on the pdf - i can see now that the faders are just connected as regular pots, it's just the pins of the motor itself connected to the MF module... Ye, shudda seen that MF calibration test - been to that page enough times ;p Thanks... BTW: For the LC emu, where are the LED rings connected for the encoders, as the MF module is already using J7 of the 18F core?...
  5. Great! things are moving so fast ;) So, with this step A job i just need a din connected to the 18F sid? soz, i'll wait for the documentation...;p
  6. Hi... T, are there any test firmwares that'll work on the 18F with the MF module connected to test the motor faders? Also, the PDF link for mbhp_mf_interconnections.pdf on the site is dead, can u send it me pls? Finally, how do utilise touch sensors capability with these panasonic faders, can it be done? Cheers... Dan
  7. okay, a cpl more q's :p... 1. In this post: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=news;action=display;num=1042125068;start=15#15 (Launch of SID 1.4 f/w) you say: Does that mean that i can as of now connect the midi out of the 18F 1.4 SID to the MIDI in of the 3 other 16F 1.4 SIDs and control them, as i'm running the 1.4 f/w? Do i connect just the audio outs of the 3 16Fs to the IN of the 18F too? 2. In the same post, you also posted a rather tasty layout for the control surface front panel ;) Is this all still doable? I'm in the process of panel contruction for my other boxes now, and wanna do the SID control in the same hit too if i can. I'd do more-or-less the same design except mebbe replace the encoders for pots, and just have the one main enocoder (by the LCD in ur design). Is this okay? will i have the same functionality? I'll leave the q's there for now ;) Nice Dan
  8. ;D ;D ;D this is all too much :P ...but i like it ;) D
  9. Great! ;D i'll prolly hold out for the control surface to arise then, at least now i have all the internals workin ;) also started refurbishing and ol c64 case to put it all in...;p Besides, i've still gotta finish my original MB64 and MBLC in the meantime... so plenty to keep me busy until the MBSID control drops.... Thanks again... D
  10. T, again u've suppassed urself - I'm now a member of the SID 18F club :) ;) It works puuuuuuurfect! Can i hook up the other 3 16F sids i've done with this rls tho? Also, am i able to have all the pots/buttons/encoders/leds etc on that SID 18F core? I've had a read and look, is there where i havto to modify code :( In 4 SID heaven.... Dan

    Drum sequencer?

Hey dave... I was looking at doin the same exact thing with Trevor's 909 - mentioned on the introspective list that summin using the mighty MIOS would be great for a seq like app for the new machine he's planning... On the coding side - i aint to hot myself, but i've seen a few posts here that talk about a similar idea by peeps who know they're code, so i guess we gotta just sit tight and see how it pans out... Best... Dan
  12. T... Can i be the guinea pig for a 18F 4 Sid monster - is the mios code dun with this rls, soz the whole MIOS thing kinda pass me by a bit - needs much more readin ;) Only cos, I've built the 4 cores and sid brds already ;) the master with the 18F and the rest with the 16F Also, i'm gonna use a 4x40 LCD (as i have one already) for this sid control surface - would i be able to make more use of the added character space? Peace D

    PSU for MBLC

Hi... I've seen an open frame AC/DC Linear psu that gives voltages from 12-15 and is rated at 1.7A. Would this be suitable to power both the MF and Core module for the MBLC box? If so, that's be a result...;) Nice Dan
  14. ;D ;D Great! another box to do :P :o :-* Nice D

    Re: PIC18LF...

not sure on the first q, but i believe all that needs changin from the original core to the 18F version is to swap the 20MHz xtal for a 10Mhz one... best Dan
  16. Hi... Just wondering the best way to power the MBNG LC box. I'd ideally like to use one wall plug to power both the core and MF module, even better would be if anyone has a schem for an internal transformer psu...how are other mbhp'ers powering (or will be) they're MBLC box? On another tip - would it be possible to have a password protection system written in the f/w so when u turn a box on after the initial boot f/w screen ud have to press, ie a button combination, to 'unlock' the box - the reason i say this is cos the amount of work that goes in to these gems, it'd be nice to know that if one ever got stolen the theif wud have unfunctional box - which would at least bring some comfort for all the effort we put in to these beauties... Ta Dan
  17. So here it is...;) Made this as a primer before i tackle bigger MB64 and MBLC. Def pleased with it, gonna use it as a portable jobbie - might wack a handle on the cover :p kinda midi lunchbox stylee.... Best... Dan
  18. cheers Ian! will post some pics later today hopefully

    16 MF

Hey peeps... Ian - same boat as you as far as the MBLC goes, even got the same panasonic faders and was also wondering about the touch sensor bidness. Encoder wise, i made mine from some old serial mice: Note: i also used the mouse button housed under the cover (which is off the ball of the mouse ;p) they still need connecting and testing with the din (that'll be another 50 posts no doubt;p)... I'm doin more or less an exact clone of the LC itself for my box, here's my layout: WRT to (some) of ur q's: i think u can now have upto 128 digi inputs with the new OS, so it should be cool. The jog wheel wil work too - look at the mblc ini file and all will be revealed ;). 36 is the resolution for the encoders I think, tho the 24 ones from Alps will be dandy i'm sure too - thats what mentioned on the site neways... peace n dumplins D
  20. yeah, it already had a few wires beneath due to bad tracks :P - I was using the PNP for etchin (my attempts with the exposing/developing way resulted in 2 cracked glass sheets - which were from the coffee table!, due to the heat of the lamp - the lady was not impressed :o) - but they didnt come out the laser as clean as i expected (prolly due to the toner cartridge), once etched the tracks were pretty grainy and un-even... has/is been tough tho, i came into this with NO EE knowledge what so-ever! the reason i wanted to etch myself was cos I wanna make MANY midiboxes - in the hope of finally having a studio that is totally custom to how i work...and this is/has/will be possible to that supercharged genius of yours! BIGUP THE T! :D Nice1 Dan
  21. ;D ;D i ended up just ripping that core out and using an old one that i restuffed - working midibox followed!! no more error messages ;) the bankstick doesnt appear to work still but i think thats down to me a) wiring the pinouts wrong, or b) killing the eeprom when soldering on the pins - who knows? i'll check, and check, and check... phew....
  22. burnt the bankstick test f/w and plugged in the bank stick (new unused eeprom), LCD just reads 'Please connect/unconnect Stick'... Tried with 2 eeproms - same message
  23. it wasnt 5.8V it was 5.07V i had the gnd probe on the dc in vss :p so, i just replaced the 1K resistor - made no diff... I'll still try adding a bankstick cheers
  24. all other test points are correct - gettin the 5v elsewhere including after the 7805...
  25. 5.8V I'll try now... Cheers
