  1. Wow! you must have a lot of patience, and good metalworking skill! remember... the panasonics are only US$5 each if you get tired of making your own. have fun! (where will you get the toothed belt and the pulleys from?)
  2. Hey Drift, suffring sukotash is what daffy duck says sometimes! I should change the pic from <<<<<<----silvester to daffy!
  3. Hey nizor, the best way to approach these projects is to start building, and then working out how to get all the stuff into the PIC18F452 chip will start to fall into place. basically, to get the firmware in... 1. build a JDM programmer (see Thorsten's page on this... www.ucapps.de) 2. install ic prog onto your PC (again, Thorsten has made easy instructions on his website) 3. burn the bootstrap loader (mios downloads page) into the PIC (Thorsten has instructions) using ic-prog 4. load the application into the PIC over a sysex midi connection, using "midi-Ox" (Thorsten......) I think that's it... If you have problems, we will help you out, but please put any programming issues in the relevant thread divisions good luck, from Steve
  4. Whoa! If you had offered this stuff 2 yrs ago, I would have saved myself around $800 Australian! (after seeing the 'new prices' I realise that we get ripped off here in Australia!)
  5. there is also an eckersleys in Parramatta (where Ice Cube dosen't hang out)
  6. http://www.revolver.co.nz/logic/lc_undocumented.html
  7. Well I linked the encoder to the scratcher, but it would only recognise two positions, hard left, or 50%. All the other knobs do the same, but I'm sure I've used this encoder in FL before, so either I'm daydreaming, or I've missed an option in one of the dialogs or something. soft midi ports and stuff? These days I'm too impatient to try all these workarounds! (too many other things on my mind) Either it does it or it dosen't! :P
  8. I tried linking the rotary encoder on a novation nova to the FL scratcher, but no joy... so maybe a pot is the only way. hey domas, I'm sure traktor is very cool, but its also expensive! (I have already spent all my money on logic and my diy midiboxes!)
  9. normal for drum pads is for one piezo to send (after adc) both velocity and note- on data. I'm not sure how note off function works.
  10. I have also reversed (by accident) the direction of encoder by reversing the connections when soldering
  11. contact the fruityloops tech support, (assuming you are a registered user) and check that you can control the fruity scratcher with an encoder. Sometimes they are slack at responding, so if they don't reply, then put a question up on the 'looptalk' forum. in the mean time, if I remember how to use the general purpose mode on the LC, I will chack it myself ;)
  12. I looked at my interface, but it is to complex to bother (has an integral 8 bit sampler) but you already have better options anyway, thanks to your midibox pals! good old D paint!! ;) I never got much work done on my amiga, the floppy disks always got corrupted, and now none work at all! I found an A500 by the side of the road a few months back, and would really like to play that game "overdrive" again if I ever find another copy!! (just to hear the cheezy soundtrack! I think puff daddy sampled it in that song where he's in that room where everything goes white. but I can't stand puff daddy!) PS my printer back then took 20mins each page! (Epson LX80 yeah!!)
  13. I got 2 from oatley, and they are not backlit... at least I think not... they are thin, not thick like backlit ones, and have no plastic bit at the end, or on the back... just glass, metal and a PCB, but it would be nice if I was wrong. wouldn't the EL arrangement be a potential source of jitter? was your EL power supply from Jaycar? EDIT... where did you connect the EL power to? I can only see connections for an LED backlight (A, K) but my unit is too thin to be LED backlit, I can't see any indication that it could be EL type either... no markings that say 100v or 400hz :-/
  14. The backlit ones? does that mean you have bin workin on yer LC? or still on yer abeltone live seturp?
  15. I've used crystals from Farnell, 10Mhz 485-081 20 Mhz p/n 569-902 both are around $3 Australian.
  16. me too, but I thought midibox MF was discontinued? or am I confused?
  17. if you can red english... joystick sources have been mentioned on the forum before, do a search "joystick" or something... I'm only guessing what you were talking about though!
  18. wow... is that like an overgrown mb16E? That would be useful, but I'm not building anymore stuff this year! (my teachers have been telling me off for building too much, and not doing enough study/music production! ;))
  19. Pilo... My panasonic faders do not have touch sensors, therefore I had to instal 8 extra buttons on my front panel to act as quasi touch sensors... in the LC application (v1.3b, or v1.4) you need to enable the 'mode 2' in the application setup or whatever its called (I haven't used perl for a few weeks, I can't remember all the details) to enable the mode that stops the faders from sending midi data unless the touch sensor is activated. The digi002 is a control surface/interface for Protools LE, and it uses metal slider knobs, to test for capacitance from your skin as u touch it.... TK... I haven't received an encoder from you... I have one spare alps encoder around here somewhere, did you get the impression that I needed one? I'm a bit confused...
  20. arghh!!!! Its the weekend, please don't remind me of OSX!!!
  21. I will pull apart my old Amiga midi interface and have a look... I hava a feeling it may only use a few parts... but I have to find it first!! I also had software, but all my amiga discs got corrupted! (either moisture or faulty drives) so you still use that 1200 much?
  22. I have to say that it has been a pleasure :D using my LC clone since Thorsten created the new touch mode, where the sensor has to be activated to move the fader. (The Digi-002 is similar to this too, if you touch it with your fingernail only, you can't physically move the fader!) ;D
  23. Hey Smash! Thanks for the reply!! That stuff about M$ sounds interesting! I have respect for Bill Gates 'cos he gives heaps of money to needy causes, but both Apple and M$ give me the ***** with their nasty tactics at the expense of their customers... one day I will learn to use Linux!! anyway I got around the problem!! I converted the .mov into an .avi, and the best codec was one of the indeo codecs by intel! The file is small, whilst playing back smoothly, and at reasonable quality for syncing sound to pictures :) It's strange that I can open .mov's on PC using the Quicktime player, but Logic can't handle it. (Cubasis VST can though!) Anyway, I think I understand codecs now, am I right to assume that sometimes they are handled by the codecs installed on the machine, and sometimes they are handled by the software that is playing it?? anyway, thanks again, from Steve :) Trans-Am eh? we only get to see them in movies over here in Oz!
  24. I hope you finish that LC soon! It will be a lot more fun! ;)
