  2. maybe we could have a competition, to get a midibox in a photo with someone famous, or on TV or something, by leaving it in the background, where someone famous is about to say something important 8) Maybe in a Daft Punk film clip or something! (No, Honestly, I am not an electronics geek at all! ;)) (such a midibox would have to have the word www.ucapps.de on it ;))
  3. This is the first time I've looked at this thread, and I can't beleive what I see! I think this project will become a bit of a legend! I think the best stuff comes about when people's hearts are in it, not companies wallets! What we see here is really an artform! I like Thorsten's dynamic approach to create the most user friendly tools (which are also works of art!) is the best, not limited to the design brief limitations that companies come up with! truly works of art! BTW, TK decided not to part with those 2x40's after all! (for those who have good memories ;)) cya, from steve

If begginners want a basic 'starting point' firmware, a hex file that simply has to be burnt into the PIC (micro-controller chip) in one step, with all the standard LC settings, send me a private message, and I will send you such a firmware, that can be loaded simply with IC-Prog (free software) and JDM programmer (DIY hardware). currently I can only do this for character LCD version, in two flavours... 1) touch sensor needs to be active for fader to send controller data (touch sensor mode 2) 2) fader will send controller data even when touch sensor is not active (touched)
  5. believe me, if you don't have 'scribble strips' (LCD) it is a real pain, unless you have heaps of units, one for each channel, then you write under each fader/encoder which parameter it is controlling. Speaking from experience here!
  6. Hey everyone, After many months of thinking of a better way of adding touch sensitivity to those pesky panasonic motorfaders, I think I may have something! I realised that whenever I move one of the faders, I put the heel of my hand on the lower edge of the 'mixer' (control surface) and why not use a metal pad, right there, as the touch sensor! This is like Thorsten's original idea of thumb tacks next to each fader. Very cheap and easy! has anyone an idea better than this?

  8. crystal can go in either way. Low value caps that are non polarised, like 10n can go in either way.
  9. it has more led's in the ledrings than your midiboxes I also downloaded the manual, and it has a lot of features, but still, it would be a hassle, without the LCD displays that LC/MC has, in my opinion
  10. I have a Behringer MX3242 analogue mixer, which has amazing price and performance. but I have to agree with Frank on the QC. When it was brand new, I had to wiggle a pot back and forwards for about an hour, until it started to work! and then repair a broken PCB track! and then clean off flux residue, which seemed to be causing interference on the headphone jack! (that stuff attracts moisture) But happy now!

  17. I'm sorry my suggestion meant so much work that went no-where. Poor quality pots... Maybe that is the same reason my MB64 was never really good. (I use only my midibox LC, now, that is the one I isolated the pots on) I bought 128 pots! and never finished my second MB64! (started more than 2 years ago!)

  19. I saw the control XT advertised in a UK magazine for 399. I wonder how that compares to buying the parts to build an LC? (I forget how much mine cost to build) I wonder how hard it would be to hack it, to make the software think that it is a full LC, and just add a jogwheel and a bunch of buttons. Would the LCD be a custom chipset?
  20. guess not... but registered users of logic, on Mac, can emulate HUI with a free download from emagic. (That's me, but no cash to buy PT, or a midi interface for my Mac!) Pity about everyone else though.
  21. If you had looked for previous threads before starting this new one, you would have seen my misadventures with very similar problems. I had to isolate the pots from the metal front panel, and that really cut down the jitter. This was against Thorsten's advice, but I tried it out of desperation, and it worked for me. I have mentioned all the other precautions I took, many times on this forum, and I'm sick of re-typing it everytime, so sorry, but you'll have to find it yourself. (forum search) Be patient, go have a break, do something else for a while, put it out of your mind. When you come back to it, I'm sure it will be easier for you! one thing that just occured to me, but I've never tried out, is putting a ground sheild around the PIC, as it seems to make a fair bit of RF. (my senheisser microphone picks it up, when closer than one foot from the midibox!)

  24. I'm sure it could, but don't look at me! Keep your eyes open, for secondhand encoders. I got a computer monitor off the side of the road, which has an encoder for the inbuilt amplifier volume knob, and it has an inbuilt button! do a forum search on 'encoder' as I'm sure I've seen a link to suppliers of encoders with buttons. If you get really stuck, I will sort you out with one.
