TK told me it should be within 3-4 weeks, and that was about 2 weeks ago (panasonic driver)

looking 4 the perfect settings 4 panasonic mf
Steven_C replied to hallucinogen's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
Hey, Squirrel, I was only asking for interest... and by the time you have finished yours, TK most likely would have finished the driver for panasonic faders ;) Actually, I wanted to see if "Hallucinogen" had tried them yet ;) -

Yes, Secret Squirrel, (did you ever see that cartoon?) and, I also suggest you wait for Thorsten's comments on the panasonic faders before you decide which brand to buy! BTW, Hallucinogen, did you try those settings I suggested? how did it go? -
:)that's good :)

actually, I'm not sure if the daft punk album is really called discovery... I don't know what gave me that impression, I just looked, and it just says "daft punk" on the cover, and it is silver and multicoloured, and not silver and brown, like the old one. BTW it is on Virgin records, and I got the Vinyl LP edition ;D ! Sorry to get so off topic!! bye ;)

BTW, I spent probably over 50 hours testing for the best settings! -

Ok sonic oops, halucinogen, here's the best I managed... (change back to mios 1.2 until Thorsten finishes the new firmware 1.3 didn't work at all for me... sorry TK) I posted my best settings once before, and I think it was this... 6.35v (I think) AI 05,(though dosen't make sense, still after a month of testing this is the best) MF 02, CD 0F, CU 0F. Now, until you get the new firmware, use flip mode, and use encoders to set the fader levels, and switch to faders when programming automation (faders will last longer anyway! ;)) I don't recommend new users buy panasonic faders until Thorsten proves that they are ok for the LC/MC (though LO says that his work fine) changing the resolution to 128 instead of dB reading in LC prefs may make a very slight difference (but then you don't see the dB reading) good luck! -
oh the joys of electronics! when I was 14, I put scissors in the active pin (240v mains) and shorted them to the metal grounded socket panel in Science class, and blew the tip off the scissors, and I reappeared out of the smoke screen cloud a few seconds later! The teacher just laughed! (Hey kids, don't try this at home or anywhere else, you might die!)

but you can't grind aluminium without coolant (don't try this at home folks, you'll hurt yourself!!)

Don't push the man! He's not a slave! TK, take some time out, and make some music or something!!! ;) (but I know you enjoy this! Living out the techy dreams of your 80's youth!) do you like the daft punk album,("discovery"), I think it is way 80's and cheesy, just like us!!

hey pay, if you have one encoder, you can use dpdt toggle swithces to switch the one encoder into whichever pins on the din module, thats what I did until I got the rest from Ian, then I pulled out the switches, and stuck the encoders in! The switches were in the holes for the encoders, and the single encoder was mounted in a milkbottle plastic bottle cap, and held to the panel with one screw!

tips... (hopefully not too useless...) you might not beleive it, but to reduce flicker/jitter, use massive earth rails/wires (1-2mm diameter) put a few 100n caps around the place, especially across the 5v rails, close to the pots, get some small ferrite beads, run the CV wire (centre pin) from the pots through them (but this may be not practical, if you have more than 8-16 pots) Make sure you have a big power supply (1000-2000uf) power your unit from a filtered power board, and use a star earth, no earth loops, and you will be amazed at the difference... I was! Make sure your firmware is newer than v28 if you are using MB64 (PWM dimmer... bad news) BTW I mean the hollow tube ferrite beads you poke the wires thru. whoever is compiling (FAQMARKER (for you TK ;)) FAQ, please quote this! well that was totally not what you wanted an answer for, but I wrote it anyway! maybe alps pots? (the real answer? :-[)

me too! I think he does it while he's sleeping! ;) Thats the only way he could fit it into his life! ;) I wonder what he dreams of while he's doing all this!!

use the volume control on your amp... save heaps of effort!! Logic only sees 8 faders max per 'box... as for cool edit... I've no idea...

I just spent 1/2 day >:( looking for a dry joint on an analogue synth I built, and then realised it was these crappy trimpots from Jaycar... (I think they sell good ones too, but I'm not sure) When you flex the board, the frequency of the circuit changes too! >:( At least I know what it was now! :P

No more graphical LCD screen questions! ;)

This is so cool! It isn't some sort of joke is it? ;D I can't help laughing at that pixelated screen ;D :D But that makes it all the more cheazier ;) yes, I'm glad I didn't throw away that amiga monitor! (also brings back memories of the C64 ads, with cheezy wooden panneled '70's TV's :))

MIDIbox of the week (MIDIbox LC and MIDIbox SID of d2k)
Steven_C replied to TK.'s topic in MIDIbox of the Week
Nice! I like the invisible wires going to the LCD! Make sure you stop building, and use it sometime! ;) -
Please don't take these companies for a ride... If you can afford to support them, then you should... If getting the parts in your country for a reasonable price is difficult, then go ahead and order samples... but don't ask for more than you need... remember that there are very few major companies like microchip that offer such great 'hobbyist friendly' products, and I'd very much like to see them in production for years to come! BTW, I think that the reason that the samples are not available in Australia, is because sample orders need to be nameised by the Australian Microchip office (in Epping, I drive past every day!) and Australians are very tight when it comes to free stuff! don't take offense to my views, you have the right to dissagree! ;) (Now I'm being too soft!! :P)

Yeah, I thought about trying these, but it sounded too hard! Do you need a PSU with -v? or an AC transformer? wanna post a circuit diagram of this?
-
Hey TK, So much for 'leaving the customisations of the new MIOS projects to the users' ! don't overdo it, or over exert yourself! ;) (don't worry, we all do! ;))

Hey, I didn't see this thread 'till after I started the 'midibox LC tutorial' thread. (Thanks for pointing it out, TK) once enough has been contributed to make a tutorial, I will make a document to post on this portal! (in pdf, or .html format ;))

Hey, Thanks for that link, Boss! ;) Has anyone tried the 2x40 LCD with backlight from here? :oWOW! :o look at those big LCD screens! imagine an SSL digital console or digico 5 lookalike midibox, with a few of those! ;) ... Vacuum flourescent! how cool! http://www.eio.com/lcdprodt.htm#2x40

Read all this thread, please! Next step is probably to compile a list of order numbers/suppliers of the more difficult to get parts. just to get started... Panasonic motorfaders... allelectronics (USA) cat#MSP-10k (wait for Thorsten's comments on these before going ahead with purchase, He is testing them in the next few weeks or so) LCD... 2x40 option available from oatley electronics in Australia... no backlight, a bit pricey at $25Aus ea I have tested these, no probs there. I will be testing 2x40 LCD from PMB (with backlight) in New Zealand soon. http://www.pmb.co.nz/ Encoders... Look out for good deals on Ebay, try to team up with other midibox builders to snatch a good deal!! Also, Nat has found a supplier of Alps encoders, but they will only sell in bulk, so you will need to find a bunch of people to order at these good prices, and be nice to Nat, to find out where to order from. Ian has ordered in bulk from another supplier, but these are detented encoders. PIC 18F452- http://www.pmb.co.nz/ or Farnell (expensive) (I'll add other suppliers and part/n's later, unless someone else does) OK, now someone else post some suppliers! (or any other LC/MC clone tutorial Ideas) mental block... I'll continue later....
