  1. thanks for the tip! BTW, Im in Sydney, where are you? BTW the best way to learn how to build the 'box is to start putting it together... you will learn as you go, if you get stuck, just ask for help!! ;)
  2. I sent an email to bg micro, reguarding an order, and how to calculate postage about a week ago, but I got no reply, now I'm a bit nervous to send them any money... any suggestions??
  3. Hey, have a look at the thread "get inspired" to see what pay_C is talking about....
  4. is it your site copied onto another server?
  5. hey pay, do you know if you can do this in LC? I know you can use the lcd as meters, but I haven't been able to work out if you can use them to show position like mb64 (don't really want to build ledrings, but I think I may have to! The box will be heaps better with it I suppose! TK... THIS IS NOT A FEATURE REQUEST! you do enough already!!!)
  6. I'm sure you could encode it into pitchbend data ( I think LC does this) but your application or midi hardware wouldn't know how to interpret it unless it is compatible with such data... anyway, I don't really know, I'm just guessing :-[
  7. Hey, Just wondering what settings others are using for mf voltage, mf speed, ain deadband, mf deadband, and what your results are like. thanks, from Steve C
  8. a thought just came to mind... imagine being able to save patches on an old school analogue synth!!!
  9. This may allready be possible... Just a row of pan-pots (encoders) and use the flip button to switch them into fader mode. This works with logic, but I don't know about other programs. Also, in theory it sounds like a good idea, but having worked like this in logic, it is a real pain trying to look at a numeric value for each of the fader positions... it is nowhere as easy as looking at the fader's positions. (though it may be possible to use LED rings, to show fader positions, but I'm not sure how) Does anyone know if you can assign the fader position to show up as a bar, in flip mode, like with the level meter function? it would save having to make ledrings! well I hope someone can add something useful to this... BTW I think Thorsten has mentioned using LED bar, and slider pots (not motorised) as the faders in an old post. bye, from Steve

    LC features

the emulation is very close, almost the same! But it is a lot of work, not a quick project!
  11. just 250 posts, and you get 4 stars **** ! (OK this is really off topic, but I can't seem to get chat working yet, especially since I removed my second drive, and I don't have space for the chat software!) (I'm putting together a faster pc!)
  12. You guys are going crazy! (not that there's anything wrong with that!) I'm going to have to stop looking at these posts, cos I'm never going to have time to build all this cool stuff! BTW you should take a look at diyaudio.com there is some cool stuff there as well :)
  13. Hey pay_c, I had a look too, and there are alternative payment options, and when you order you can select which country you are in! There are phone and fax numbers on the home page. (I think it was, anyway its there somewhere!) Rowan, I don't know how you do it!
  14. I have a small behringer desk too, and I have used many professional desks, and I have to say that I am amazed with the sound quality (though not build quality :'() especially the eq's! also, go off the sound when buying H/P, not price tag or salesperson's hype, though you need experienced ears to tell if they will be ok for recording or mixing. (I heard some excellent akg DJ h/p the other day for $299 Australian) though I bought nice sony (old style) for $5 at a garage sale! just needed new lead! ;D ...steve
  15. I use the headphone amps built into my otherwise unused cassette decks (very cheap) I just have to keep the record button pressed, to route the line inputs to the H/P O/P. Level controls are nice too!
  16. I'm going to get my brother to make me one on the lathe at his work.
  17. its a challenge for us, (oops I'm definately not being modest here! Probably exaggerating a bit) And it is such a break from the norm! This forum is inspiring, for most of us, there is so much positivity! thanks all! ;D I've wondered this myself, also, I found a midi interface design on the net for mac, that uses the mac's own version of the serial port. (not sure if all macs have these) but due to time constraints, I may buy a usb interface soon. (or maybe not, due to money constraints) bye, Steve
  18. plain old internet explorer, is what I use, but for those who can't see the rollover info, it is the icon with the page and the arrow coming out of it that you click on to insert a quote. lets see how off topic we can get this thread... anyone for tennis? ;D
  19. ;D thats funny! ;D
  20. hey logicat, welcome to the world of midiboxing! see if you can get the use of a pc to program chips etc... It will be easier when asking questions later about configuring the .asm files, and turning them into .syx files, if you can relate them to software that the rest of us are using :'( yeah, I like the mac for some things (like protools!) but for other stuff, it is frustrating that apple try to make srviceable, common protocols redundant! (like floppy drives, serial ports, paralell ports etc!) apple seem to think we all have lots of money to spend!! good luck... btw, what midi interface will you be using? and don't worry if you can't access a pc, someone here (me if you like... assuming you don't try to go beyond my skills depth) will be able to make all the .syx files you need to get your midiboxes going. (assuming you know how to send sysex (.syx) from your mac)
  21. I think the only difference is the device ID or serial number or something. This is just a simple way of mackie and emagic of ensuring product incompatability! (I think when Mackie and Emagic agreed to work on the logic control together, Mackie must have signed an agreement not to release their own version of the logic control... hence the mackie control cannot be used as a logic control!! (pretty frustrating if you buy one! as mackie control is very cheap now, for what it is!) all the details for configuring mackie or logic control will become apparent when you open the main.asm file for the LC, and configure it in MPlab, or equivalent software. (you can easily switch between mackie or logic control over sysex, using midi-ox)
  22. well actually, the button above where you type in all your post dosen't say "insert quote" until you move the mouse pointer over it. (not sure whether 'baloon help' has to b switched on or not) hey LO, insert the quoted text between these [ quote][/quote ] with the paste command
  23. will you guys ever have time to make any music?? ;)
  24. have you looked at the orderlist on smash's order site? apart from that, farnell part no. 302-2754 apart from that, I don't know, and I would also like to know if 1N5819 would work, as it is readily available in Australia! (Jaycar)
  25. out of interest, stanton use an optical fader in one of their dj mixers...
